The Razer Arcade Stick Thread!

$200 puts it in competition with dual-console stuff like the Qanba and the OMNI. Seeing as it’s not dual-console, that’s not a good price to put it in. Not even ease of modding can compete with being dual-console right out of the box.

There is a round of revised sticks being done… Signed up this week and hope I get selected this time!

Is this is true, i will keep my fingers crossed. Lol. Where did you sign up? Thought that ended a long time ago

While the dual modded stuff is definitely a better value, it’s not really competing with them. Dual modded sticks have an inconsistent supply based on their legality and their production cycles. Razer’s access to production and distribution would put them on the same level as Mad Catz and Hori. I think it’s more fair to say that it competes with the Fightstick VS, which is a $200 stick that doesn’t offer a dual mod out of the box.

That said, I would love to see it at the $150 price point and compete with the TE. I just don’t think it’d be realistic.

Oddly being dual modded from the start is not a huge thing for me. I can assume that may also be the same for others as well.

While the mentioned quanba is dual modded, it doesn’t really have anything worth it other than being dual modded. Feature wise, that’s about it.

Plus, dual modding on your own is more fun anyways…

Has anyone had any problems with the rubber material on the bottom peeling or ripping over time?
Any issues with the longevity of the latch?

Only the latch button. It’s held in by four thin plastic pegs which definitely breaks off over time. Everything is still intact since September.

well you can easily put the panel back with glue, its glossy clear plastic with the razer logo

^Indeed, that’s really the only issue I have, other than that, no catastrophic failure of any sort.

I’m wondering about that, too.

There’s a second Beta test wave???
(I could test the hardware on Mac and PC for compatibility. I admit I’m getting interested in the product and they KNOW I’d tell the truth about the design…)

How long did it take for people to get confirmed from the first wave of testing?

This second testing phase should probably be way faster for confirmed testers. The first one went through a painfully long process as some remember, it started out as a thread here in the Tech Talk section then months later in September 2011, the Bred to Fight signup page went online then probably a year or so in July/August 2012, Razer|Wrathchild updated the thread with the green light of the 200 Beta sticks to be sent out. Confirmed testers probably got their sticks within a week or two, I got mine sometime in September.

Depending on how many fighters with Wii U will get, the Razer stick looks ideal since you can pop the top open and hid the Wii-mote or whatever it needs to connect to a Wii/Wii U…

Thats precisely what I’m modding mine for. But im getting the power A remote which is a little smaller. I test fit the regular remote and it does fit, but just barely.

Will Razer Arcade Stick be available for Ps4 and the new Xbox? Not so sure about purchasing a accessory made for a product that it’s at the end of their life cycle (Ps3/Xbox 360)

Anyone hear anything about the next testing phase…I signed up but haven’t heard anything on being selected or not

this is something i’m curious about as well, i would assume not unless the new systems specifically offer backwards compatibility for their controllers. But i’d also assume this generation of consoles will be the one to use for fighting games for at least another year or two.

Unless Fighting game companies don’t release new titles one it’s out. I hope that I can use Ps3 or Xbox 360 accessories on their new Console. Would be suck to wait for someone to make a adapter that it’s compatible.

My question is why would they not use USB… USB is like the most universal of serial buses

It can be USB but doesn’t mean the ps3 accessories will be compatible. The same goes for Xbox 360. The would not waist a opportunity in selling new accessories. Hopefully it doesn’t change make like the Wii U that allowed the use of Wii accessories.

The connection type shouldn’t be a problem IMO, it’s the proprietary software for next gen consoles. As we all know, Microsoft uses some sort of coding and Sony has had the firmware USB update the past but as long as the item has been licensed by the company, should be all good…I think…It’s been established and proof that USB is the choice connection for modern and upcoming devices.
