Do you really want us to commit in this thread instead of the private message? I really don’t want people to get the wrong impression on a stick that not yet ready for retail distribution it can confuse Googlers down the road on what the finished product will be like.
Button plugs are cheap, if you’re gonna supply it, then two should be the max since the Razer stick already comes with a ball and a bat top. At the moment, I’m just really waiting for my matching colored buttons and 6 button Noir top panel and plexi to come in. Aside from that, it’s been taken to local tourneys and casuals. The easy opening top is truly the wow factor, aside from that, plays like a standard stick with no problems at all, the only part I sorta agree on is the glossy parts above and below the plexi-glas…my Razer stick is developing a number of scuffs and swirl marks even after I gave my Razer stick a cleaning before this photo:

All my main concerns have been listed either in the private convo thread or in the Razer feedback page, currently no real problems have popped up ever since(considering the colder weather we’ve gotten in Toronto and the only real mod the stick has is a Cerberus dual mod). Not gonna post any negativity about the placement of the start and back buttons, just like how I had the HRAP.3/EX then had to get used to the placement of the two buttons on the back of the SE/TE sticks, people tend to quickly get used to the start and back button on the Razer stick after a play on it. Not to mention, my Qanba Q3 also had a similar placement.
That doesn’t make any sense.
If button plugs are cheap then why should two be the max? What does a bat-top have to do with it?
Well most people just use two so they can have a six button layout instead of eight. Also if they add a ball, bat top, and plugs they start to add up and bring the overall price of the stick up.
Given the popularity of Tekken, Soul Calibur, DOA, KOF, and Mortal Kombat I’d say that there are plenty of people who would want more than two.
This is going to be a premium stick when publicly released. I don’t think an extra $5 will make much difference.
Oh yeah, absolutely forgot about the quick top feature as I was typing but yeah, the unknown retailed price is stil a mystery even if it’s $5 extra for more plugs but I see where gahrling is going with it(just pop the top, disconnect desired buttons and add the plugs), I was still thinking of the standard taking 6 -7 screws off, removing panel, take buttons out for plugs and place panel back on and also 2 button plugs are standard from the sticks I’ve had from the past(Hori VLX & Qanba Q3…or was it the Q4).
Personal preference wise, I prefer 6 buttons stock on my sticks which is why I goto the trouble of actually getting top panels with 6 buttons rather than 8 which is what I’m waiting for…otherwise I would just stick with a full 8 button set if I couldn’t rather than adding two plugs.
I never understood button plugs, frankly. Can’t you just, you know, ignore the extra two buttons? If you have a custom plexi for a cleaner look, I get that, but plugs just look . . . haphazard.
It’s much more comfortable to be able to rest my pinky when there is a plug, thanks to the curve of my fingers (on a Sega/Noir layout, I don’t typically use a plug). It feels weird to rest it between the two last buttons for some reason, and it really feels uncomfortable to have it hover over either last button, if that makes any sense.
I also sort of like the idea of having the room to expand, if a game requires all buttons, or if someone wants to borrow it and has a preference.
Button plugs where originally meant for arcade owners to do easy conversions to arcade cabinets without changing the panel, and not make the said changes permanent.
Sanwa , Seimitsu as well as Happ and IL all made button plugs.
I am fine with the Start and Select button placement, specially since the rear hinges offer no real areas for button placement.
Mmm…I think I’d rather have a 6 button plexi. cleaner if it’s left plain, and more space if you have art.
I think if it incl. 2 plugs…then cool…otherwise…not a deal breaker to not incl. any at all.
Having the space inside with the honeycomb gives you some cool options though…
*have a 6 button plexi for a clean look…and make some little button clamps of your own on the inside to hold a couple of the buttons like in the VLX…and leave them connected so they’re still usable to navigate menus if needed.
*do the same to “Start & Back” and plug the holes (although a pain in the ass if you like to mash Start)
*Daisy chain “Back” to one of the “3P” or “3K” buttons if you kept the 8 button layout, then you can plink your jabs…
Man…the options on this stick are gonna be ridiculous!
Is the final design going to be cramped like most sticks, or offer more space between the joystick and button cluster, like the HRAP Kai?
There is more space on the current beta but not much. They moved the joystick about a 1/2 inch away more than a madcatz stick.
Better than nothing.
I assume you’re referring to the original TE layout. The TTT2 madcatz sticks have plenty of space, iirc.
So, is this a 2013 product?
A little closer to fully done.

The buttons look so great with the clear tops and have leds in them already, I just need to make my led pcb and hook them up. They are bright as the sun, I should probably turn them down a bit but I dont want to
The clear inserts are from Paradise Arcade and are just awesome. You do have to file them a bit though.

Things still need to do.
- Paint the crown base white. Seriously why is it not at the very least black by default what the hell is up with that ugly ass blue.
- Paint the bolts white.
- Make and hook up the LED pcb
- Put start and select back in.
- Re Replace the led under the Razer graphic.
Cool mod there, blklightning21, do share again when its complete
And yes, mdsfx, this will be coming in early 2013.
Been noticing some discussion about the distance between the joystick and the buttons, and also getting some mixed comments on our beta feedback spreadsheet. This is probably a preference thing, having a smaller or bigger gap between the 2, but we have taken this into consideration to allow for ample space without making it feel too cramped. However, would having too much space in between be detrimental to playstyle and comfort?
Re-pasting the feedback form over here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dENkZWJTeFc0dnNQNFg4ZjdoRGFqQ0E6MQ
Do drop by and share your thoughts and concerns! BTW, we’re tracking both the forms here and on www.razerzone.com/bredtofight.
IMO, the space is fine. As I’ve mentioned in my feedback via the Google Docs form, the big issue is how “high” the buttons are compared to the stick.
Waiting for my panels to come in to finish up my razer stick 100%~
Yup, this. I LIKE the distance between the stick/buttons, what I didn’t like was the Y axis distance.
Also, like a few others my top panel button’s faceplate came off after closing the stick a few days ago. I have to super glue it back into place but it might behoove you to perhaps make that more solid somehow.
That looks hot. Nicely done.
