The Razer Arcade Stick Thread!

Come on now…
We all know they’re not made in the same mold and most parts aren’t directly exchangeable, but it’s overall aesthetic borrows heavily from the TE. It’s a familiar and safe design with some new shit added. Overall impressions = Meh.

What’s the familiar safe design that they share because I’m not seeing it.

Um, its a box with buttons, a lever and a pcb…duh! :stuck_out_tongue:

The front plastic part is pretty similar to the side parts of the TE. Before I saw the Razer stick, if someone had shown it to me, and told me it was a modded TE, I would have believed them. Also, this is coming from someone who hasn’t owned a TE, but seen them around and at tournaments. I’m not intimately familiar with the TE, but I stand by my opinion that they look very similar.

Obviously you never saw a TE then.
Their Side and front views look nothing alike.
Here are pictured is a modded TE-S Chun Li Stick and the Razer Stick (buttons and ball top been replaced)

They look NOTHING ALIKE

I’m not going to keep arguing about how it looks like a TE, if you don’t see it you don’t see it. Cheers!

Maybe it more obvious when you have both sticks physically infront of you; but you are seeing what is not there. Like that piece of fried chicken does not look like Jesus Christ.
The only similarities is that both used Sanwa parts, both has USB cords, both have 8 buttons and a Joystick, and both has guide areas.
That where the similarities end.

The Mad Catz TE and TE-S was made to mimic a Veiwlix control panel and has a very defined angled front and for the Regular TE the sides as well.
The top view of the TE is square (well rectangle shape, when I said square I referring to the corners being 90 degree corners)

The Razer stick as a slight 30 degree angle at the front and back of the top panel and there are 45 degree corners.
But as the sides go down, each side is 90 degrees from the top and bottom panel, with a slight curve as it heads to the bottom of the case.

This is like saying a Qanba stick looks just like a Project Giant Sword stick case.
No offense to Montia and Valjborn which there works of art looks nothing like any Qanba stick.

I think people are just confusing the “square-ish” profile, button layout and control panel placement to the TE sticks. My SOUL edition is in pieces at the moment so I had only my loaner TE, my personal stick and Razer stick to make compaisons:

All three sticks follow some sort of resemblance but all have defining differences to them.

To be fair though, I would confuse the Razer stick to a TE-S with a full plexi at a glance but yeah, the Razer stick has some tell-tale signs that they’re completely two different sticks(cosmetically/physically), build and design wise, they’re completely different as Darksakul mentioned.

I’m waiting to see some of the beta tester’s that got their hands on custom top panel replacements, I went with the typical Noir 6 button layout with the turbo panel intact…actually if I were good at cutting and custom mods, I would probably have moved the turbo panel on the left side of the stick or even the backside…oh well, order already made and paid for.

I do believe you just snuck in the first pic of an art-replacement. Looks good.
I couldn’t see any headphones in the picture though.

Yup, problem about the plexi on the Razer stick is that they cut it to fit exactly with no room to give in between the stick and plexi. My Hori FE has some give so it always sits flush/flat.

Trust me, when you have it in front of you, it looks quite different from the TE.

Hey guys,

Sorry for the lack of activity here - some of you guys might also be in the other Beta conversation that was created, so I’m posting here as well to be sure everyone sees this

We have just finished another round of internal discussion with the community’s feedback so far. We’re making good progress - polishing it off and trying to add in features and accessories to the final product. So, please keep the feedback coming!

I’ve created a simple form here at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dENkZWJTeFc0dnNQNFg4ZjdoRGFqQ0E6MQ where you can leave more detailed feedback on the different features/areas of the current Arcade Stick. You guys can use this form in addition to our feedback form that you guys have already been using.

Also, for those who have received your beta units, it would be really cool if you could post images of your modded sticks, or works in progress. I’m hoping to be able to share them on our community channels, pretty sure the fans will love it!

If you ever have any questions, please feel free to PM me or ask here. I will be glad to answer.

Keep fighting the good fight!

Well if you want us to post the work in progress shots then I guess I will just post this right now.
Here is my Razer right now. Custom panel so I can fit my crown in there(this will be my dedicated tekken stick.)

Stuff to still do to it are

  • black plexi
  • paint the base of the crown white because that blue is just ugly
-buttons, either clear or white rim clear or clear rim white. I think I will probably go with white rim clear.
-Not sure but I might change the led to white, I changed it to red but white might go better.

All white on black would look sexy

Damn right my wife is sexy on me hahahaha couldnt resist.

LOOOL your wife is a lucky woman

.Cobra posted this in a separate thread. Props to him - i think it’s pretty cool!

We’re gonna feature this on our Facebook page over at www.facebook.com/razer soon, head over there to check it out. Also, keep the mod images coming in! Looking to feature more modded sticks

Bumping this up for further discussion!

Some of the more common feedback items we got included having the stick in a matte/anti fingerprint finish, and also to include button plugs to cater to layouts with fewer than 8 buttons.

What do you guys think about this?

Also, keep the feedback coming at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dENkZWJTeFc0dnNQNFg4ZjdoRGFqQ0E6MQ and keep sharing those mods!

Button plugs sound like a good addition. Not sure how many though - perhaps up to 5 to cater for the VF, Tekken, and SNK players?

what about a finish like the Razer Onza xbox 360 controllers a rubber-like finish, either way I do agree anything but gloss. The bottom section next to the the rubber matte is already looking really bad with scatches from just relocating it around in the house. I have not even hit the road with it yet.
