The Razer Arcade Stick Thread!

yessssss thanks toodles, i forgot what it was called. SOCD.

Looks like the compiled impressions i did (based mostly on rtdzigns image) made the front page.

It would be cool if they implemented “The Link” removable shaft and have the bat top holder hold that instead. I also agree that the Sanwa only quick disconnects are the wrong choice.

Would also be nice if it came already duel-modded or at least a common ground PCB.

that will deffinitley be released at launch of the stick line with an ultimate keyword.

asking for that is a waste of time and discredit to all other opinions you supply them with… this stick is not a street fighter exclusive.

Will most likely happen once Seimitsu brings out their LED lit buttons.

No fighting game in existence uses more than 6 buttons.

If they get rid of the sanwa-only QDs. >_<

Very good idea. I wonder if the link maker could mass produce those for a commercial stick. Then you could take out the button holders too, and while everyone wanting that space for PCB’s wouldn’t be 100% happy, at least we could all agree that space isn’t wasteful anymore.

I couldn’t imagine any issues with Sanwa in using a modified version of their product in the commercial release, so long as they’re getting their money.

yeah but it’s not a fighting game exclusive stick. what about shmups and beat’em ups?

Do they need more than 6 buttons?

I like using the top 4 for SNK games.

some do like castle crashers.

Shmups and Beatemups usually use 3 or 4 buttons most of of the time and very few use 6 buttons. Never heard of a shooter that uses 7 or 8 buttons. Beatemups, depends on definition, like God of War 3 is a beat em up, but you have to play that with a PS3 pad anyway.

When I was looking it up a long time ago, I read somewhere that Radiant Silvergun shipped in its own cabinet that had 7 buttons, 6 for each of the primary weapons and 1 for the Radiant Sword. Of course, just like the original pneumatic pressure pad version of Street Fighter 1, it got phased out super quick and was converted to the simpler 3 button control scheme that you see on most RS cabinets. I find it kind of amusing that while RS lost 4 buttons, SF ended up gaining 4 buttons to reach its “simpler and more intuitive” control scheme.

Yeah on Radiant Silvergun most of the pictures I saw 3. I plan to play it using 3 buttons only.

But Castle Crashers is a pad game. Playing that on a stick makes as much sense as playing Tekken Force or Devil May Cry on a stick.

just because it was made for pad doesn’t mean it’s unplayable on stink.

Then why did the makers of the game have a cab designed?

I… most certainly could, but if they’re anything like Madcatz they have a deal with Sanwa for the entire JLF assembly. So unless they want to buy the assembly and disassemble every one (and then scrap the original shaft?), I’m doubting it would be a standard. But hey, I wouldn’t argue if they did otherwise :stuck_out_tongue:

Not unplayable, no. But far from ideal.

Haha! I stand corrected on just one example then. But that button layout… nah man. Props to them for trying something new, though.
