The Razer Arcade Stick Thread!

Agreed, but the two models feel different as well, and I just like the way the As feel.

It’s not a bad concept. Just make it an empty box. That way we can throw a battop, PCB, extra cable, whatever the hell in there.

I would like tools inside that joystick. Have that replaced over the bat top compartment. That would be very handy in a last minute situation in a tourney! (oh fuck oh fuck where the modder at my match is up! ohshit)

Yeah, an empty box with no molding would probably be better over all. I think the best thing would be to make the molding removable, like those moldings for DualShock in the clam cases. That way, you can decide if you want the molding to keep your parts secure or if you don’t mind them jumbling around. I do like the idea of a spare button, a ball top holder, and a bat top holder.

The multi tool idea is brilliant, Razer is definitely thinking about this stick being a tourney stick you take with you on the road.

lol I saw that stick, too.

I really think that when they read about how TE sticks were so easy to mod and how that was one of the big reasons they were so popular, they didn’t really think passed the buttons and the art. That stuff is cool, but the common ground pcb and terminal strip are a lot more important in the modding department.

I think it’d be pretty cool if they integrated stuff from tech talk. Maybe license the Link from phreak and make that a Link compartment. Have mounts in the molded plastic for extra PCBs(chimp/chtulu/dual strike). Maybe even a cover for the extra PCB. Definitely need the terminal strip and color coded wires. They want the stick to be heavily modable, so why not go all the way?

Oh wow, I must’ve missed this pinball plunger madness. :frowning:

I want a pinball plunger too if we’re just saying random shit now.

Was there a stick like that? I was just joking.

Apparently Rtdzign made it possible. Wow.

Oh yeah, I am aware of that worklog. He used a PSP joystick for the analog. I would pay for one.

Exactly. The thing’s gonna ship with 8 buttons, no matter how many 6 buttons tantrums are thrown.

The argument isn’t whether is has 6 or 8, it’s whether we can have the extra 2 buttons off the face.

.

Strange. Was my post with suggestions via image deleted? If I did something wrong let me know.

Your post and any post referencing it were deleted.

I can’t imagine why.

Razor pulling strings?

They’re about to take ALL of your ideas into consideration… and also credit.

jk

I think this is what official Chinese internet must be like, minus the Secret Police Rounding my family up.

@rtdzign - WTF that was one of the best responses in this thread, maybe too good? Don’t worry it’s been well documented http://www.d3vlicious.com/

I’m almost certain they will have an 8 button layout by default but they really should at the very least leave an area for the buttons to be moved to. If I decided to remove them from the face of the stick I’d still like access to them in some form. The Back and Start buttons need a new location either on the turbo panel or on the back of the stick, anywhere but on the right side pf the stick ;).

You guys know me, I’m all about modular built sticks so my suggestion is for as a kit with the 6 button plexi top and 2x 24mm holes for the select and start buttons. The side of the stick already has the holes for the buttons removed from the face, 30mm preferred but I could live with 24mm. If the Start button is moved to the face of the stick it must have a lock so we don’t get accidental button presses. Actually it should have a lock no matter where it is on the stick side and back included. Sorry just thinking out loud.

Here’s a thought remove the turbo function all together and add the Home, Select and Start buttons to that panel with a locking switch of course. Now this stick will be taken for a serious tournament stick. Turbo isn’t allowed at any tournament and most people frown on it’s use on and offline anyway so who is it for? Oh yeah scrubs, cheaters and trolls.

I am not a Tech Talk expert by any means, so feel free to correct me if I am off here.

I wonder if Razer doesn’t have a very unique opportunity here to capture both the traditional ā€œstickā€ market as well as the emergent ā€œsticklessā€ one. The modular design seems like it would allow for switching between a stick and stickless interface very painlessly. I know for myself that if the stick allowed me to access both styles (even if the ā€œsticklessā€ parts were an extra add-on), it would move the Razer stick from compelling to MUST BUY.
