The Razer Arcade Stick Thread!

No, a perfect world would also give you the opportunity to mount a Fanta.

You cant have a dual modded controller produced by a US company. Microsoft/Sony will get in dat ass mad hard with their attorneys.

First of all if Razer wants this to be the “Ultimate” stick it HAS to work on Xbox 360 / PS3 AND PC out of the box and if it has Auto detect? even better! Im sure this feature would make this a better selling product because not every one uses the Xbox 360,not everyone has the skill to really modify the stick, not everyone has more money to spend to dual mod their stick. Like it has been mentioned take the popular EVO championship series for example, they use PS3’s for the games. I also worked at Gamestop before and there was always problems with fight sticks only working for one system and the person looking to buy one had the other system insted. There are a bunch of tourneys that only use 1 system over the other. This feature would probably make the best selling point(besides price) for Razor if they really wanna “Knock out the competition”.

Next, Make it more modder friendly with supporting both American and Asian Style Joysticks and buttons.

The replaceable top panels…very nice idea for people who wanna change the layout 6 vs 8 vs MK,etc… then you dont have to argue cause it’ll have those options. And if those options are available at check out? :clapdos:
Also a problem I see with the detachable USB cable is that it would probably disconnect easier then RJ45 style wich like clicks steady into place.

Thats all I can think of right now…

It’s cool. I think on this board, unlike other boards here, the regulars here, even if they disagree somehow keep the discussion civil, which I find amazing for the internet.

.

The stick is obviously going to be 8-button. People who like 6-button will just put in button plugs or get a top plexi or something. Maybe Razer will even offer them. Making it 6-button by default excludes a lot of customers who prefer 8, while 8-button excludes almost no real-world customers.

Dual-console is out. MS will not license their security chip to Razer for a stick that supports other consoles. Razer has corporate presence in the US and is subject to US law. MS could sue them under the DMCA if they used a 3rd party chip; they cannot get away with this like Qanba.

Happ/iL support is probably out. It would make the stick too bulky. The design as-is looks pretty low clearance, and I wonder if it would even fit Sanwa RGs or OBS-M-1 switches.

It’s the location. They wouldn’t get anywhere suing in China, and the few distribution channels dont move enough for it to be worth Microsoft’s legal fees to stop the distribution. The first time it was tried with the Datel stick, MS pounced hard because they would have gone through normal large retail channels. The few that come in from Qanba are no where near the numbers Datel was going to go for, and if Razer tried, it’d be pretty devastating to Razer.

Gamestop love people like you for reading fine prints and purchasing game informer magazines. Get powered up and get dat madden!

Much <3 Marcus and Robokrikit .
It would be nice concept, but again the legality of patented technology prohibits it.
Btw Toodles., you should move out to Cuba or something and start designing those boards haha.

and crown 203Cs would work in this as long as the case depth allows, because they’re threaded buttons. Sadly, the 203As just won’t, they’re snap-ins, and the panel is built for Sanwa OBSFs, as they’re more frequently used.

.

Darksakul said that us 6-button guys should use Button Plugs.
We want 6-buttons? Fine, put in Button Plugs and move on.
We want the missing ones on the side? Fine, use drill.

Well I say the 8-button guys should do the modding.
Want 8-buttons? Fine, use a drill to make holes.
Even a handheld power drill isn’t hard.

Just live with it people.
It is why we have members on the Forum offering Custom Panels.

Some of us want the 6-button.
Next person that speaks of 8-button, I’m going to take as a Troll.

do you mean for not* reading fine prints?

too bad I dont love Gamestop…hence why I dont work there anymore? cant do that bullshit anymore not worth the low pay and borrowing games lolz

Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids.

.

8 or not, I’m not too worried about it. I’ll turn it into a 6 regardless, without using button plugs. Word to that man.

Hahah, that would be nice.

8-Button Drill Service Option … $9.99

I wonder if people would actually be more willing to store a bat top or whatever if they actually could swap parts on the fly. Up until now, how many sticks actually offered this ability? It might seem silly now, but most manufactured sticks you have to take apart with a screw driver and then some, so the thought probably never crosses anyone’s mind. I know every time I think about tweaking something in my HRAP, I cringe thinking I’ll need to not only take the screws out of the bottom, but then those bolts on the face as well. I will say though, I love how solid it is.

.

They said there’d be a multitool in it for undoing the top bolts. I’d be very surprised if it didnt include a flat blade screw driver for balltop tightening and bat-top swapping, since I think that is all that is needed to swap.
