I already have some ideas for things I want to test and what mods I want to try to do for the sake of seeing if they’re work.
Yeah I do realize some people do not like button plugs as a solution, there are also always been plexi and panel replacement options.
Hence why I suggested in a earlier post that Razer should make some optional alternate panels (and other random parts) for this reason (like what Mad Catz have with there MK Panel). Like you know that one spot on the Razer stick with the Razer emblem, what you don’t like it, what if razer offers a clear blank piece where you can leave blank or add your own design in. Lets suggest things like that. Insted of spending alot of money to fabricate a custom part, lets suggest some side parts ordered separately that cost less because there more mass produced than the custom plexi pieces we often have made.
Lets have some options on the side. Maybe not apart of the package with the stock stick, but something we can grab for a few extra bucks.
What ever 6 button layout you want, hit box, MK, Honestly I don’t care but lets leave the stock panel 8 buttons as its now pretty much industry standard.
Most of us void our warranties as soon as we get our arcade stick home any ways. Moment we pop open the panel and start taking a screw driver to the parts, or a soldering iron to the wires or PCB the Warranty is long since been voided.
I think it was funny and cool when the 6 button vs 8 button thing was a quiet in-joke. But as you guys get more serious about the issue and you demand more products become 6 buttons the more I just want to wave a red flag and say HOLD IT PEOPLE, not just I want my 8 buttons damn it, other people do too.
Having that 2 full rows of 4 buttons each give me mapping options I can’t do with 6. And there some games I can’t remap buttons that I need my L2/LT for.
I use my arcade stick for more than just fighting games.
I say its a troll because your hatting on others because of a difference of opinions. If you want 6 buttons in the past, you just mod it to be 6 buttons, you going to mod it any ways. Change out the buttons for the type and color you like, change out the ball top for a stick top that suits you, change the panel art, or the whole entire panel to a layout that suits your needs and sensibilities. I get mad when someone have made perfectly good stick and someone puts it down because it has EIGHT BUTTONS. I feel the 6 button issue is being rammed down by throat .
Maybe a compromise is in order, what if there 2 spots on the side wall, looks solid, but 2 holes can be punched out or something easily to make room for buttons to be replaced. No drill involved, something that be done tool-less or with a screw driver or something that would be easy with minimum effect the outside appearance.
But, If I got to be 8 buttons to get my point across so be it.
Lets remember people we we do make suggestions for this stick, lets not make it so many options built it and so expensive that we scare of 90% of the people who might buy the stick. its Given Razer fans and Stick enthusiast are going to buy it. But sometimes more is less.
@Taikoubou, it was notthing personal with you. I was lashing out at the whole forum for something I felt went too far.
This actually isn’t true. I bet we could come to a consensus pretty easily.
Use a universal joystick mounting plate for Sanwa/Seimitsu compatibility.
Drop the Sanwa quick disconnects. Many users prefer Seimitsu buttons.
Use a common ground PCB with better placement for additional PCBs.
We prefer USB B or another connector for a more solid connection.
The button and bat compartment is clever but pointless. We would rather have room for mods.
Bonus: You don’t have to use eight face buttons. Using six would differentiate you from the competition and appeal to our core crowd. Here is an example of six buttons on a retail stick.

Is anyone from Razer lurking in this thread? That would be helpful.
oh the VSHG, my first REAL stick, ( i had several BS sticks before). I still have it lying around collecting dust. I did put the chtullu PCB in there, but my SF game with the stick remains inferior to the 6 button pad. Can’t wait for VF next year where that fact was in reverse, and I could use it more frequently again.
I too vote for a 6 button controller, way too many 8 buttons to chose from, no need to compete against the popular TEs, plus the variety of Hori’s around. A true Great 6 button stick would be very much welcomed.
Yeah just Ignore that 8 button dark sakul, he too opinionated for his own good .
You should infract him Kyle.
I’m sorry. I hate 8 button. We can still be friends. I don’t give out many infractions.
I’m half inclined to recreate this thread if the Razer people see it as a clusterfuck of differing opinions. It gives them an excuse to say, ‘Well we can’t please everyone’ and ignore the obvious.
TBH they should probably stick to the vewlix 8 button standard for now since it is their first stick and they would get more sells having an 8 button stick than they would a 6 button stick. This is not me arguing for 8 buttons because every stick i own i have ditched the vewlix panel and have modded them with an astro 6 button panel. It is just from a sells standpoint they would get more units out that way because we modders that prefer 6 buttons are the minority compared to the masses and casuals that like to have 8 buttons for navigation and the false sense of completion and other things.
Less rage more logic that my [S]rants[/S] posts
My only gripe is to ditch the extra buttons + bat top holder in the stick. I can’t think of a time where I have wanted to swap out my bat for a ball on the fly, and the inside of the stick is desperate for space as is.
But if it’s just for navigation/completion, then they can have the last 2 buttons somewhere off to the side.
what kind of beast I spawned?
Alright so aside from the fact that button count is completely unimportant as long as there are at least six and no more than eight, what else can we look for?
I wanna stress test that hinge. Also, I agree that the button/bat-top storage should be nixed. A wonderful idea on paper, but unless you have the depth of a MAS, it takes up space that could be better utilized.
I know one of my personal pet peeves about arcade sticks is that I can’t stand attached cables. Neutrik usb, rj45, as long as it’s detachable I’m happy.
Easier for Replacement/ Repair. I agree with you
I installed an RJ-45 Neutrik jack on my TE and I love how sturdy it is. It also allows for multiconsole support.
Regardless if it’s a 6 button or 8 button, I will make a custom plexiglas panel cut out for a six button and put some art over it.
8-button is phallus.
But 6-button has been done to death.
If they want to be original, they should do 10 buttons. That way you can feint on both sides, and Select-plink on the left without using the right 6.
It also needs pinball buttons on the left and right sides, and a pinball plunger on the front right.
Now that I think about it, the “bat top” storage compartment would be great for storing the pinball plunger top in when not in use. Definitely leave that compartment in.
Why a pinball plunger haha. Good for a matching theme though.
It’d be sweet for pinball games. Also, map it to KKK or PPP. Then when someone whiffs a DP, look them dead in the eye and ultra with the pinball plunger. Bam.
