On his wakeup i like to hit em with the spiral at the tip so your safe on block, it avoids him doing the ex run because it’ll break the armor. If he goes for a leg throw, it’ll whiff right over you, setting up for c.mp> spiral. Once he gets ultra, they’ll prolly throw it on wakeup so avoid doing the spiral n just jump over it and punish. Ive beaten soo many fuertes using this strategy, actually, checking my ps3 data, of the 50 fuerte matches i played, i have a 100% win rate on them lol
You’re misunderstanding the use of the move. She’s only throw invincible for a couple of frames during the kara.
It’s really only useful to avoid command grabs, and even then you could have just CS.MK->c.LP->SS
Any advice on dealing with Blanka? This is the matchup that aggravates me the most. I am not sure how to approach Blanka, and feel at a loss.
i play against a very good fuerte locally every week. if he knocks you down you really just have to guess your way out. backdash, forward dash, focus, straight up blocking, or jump back. neutral jump isn’t so hot because he can go right under you and punish since rose doesn’t have a move like chun’s nj.hk that hits both sides on the way down. slide is safe IIRC and many fuertes attempt tick setups involving s.lp afterward because it’s a pain to get out.
on HIS wakeup, his options are just as limited as yours. he can ex guac to get out (throw/hit invulnerable), but you can punish it on reaction. he can ex run away and attempt to tortilla or whatever, but it’s not throw invulnerable and spiral breaks it’s armor. beyond that he can wakeup super and ultra, which is a really risky gamble on his part.
basically your strategy is to knock him on his ass in whatever way (lucky focus crumple, blocked splash -> sweep, backdashed tortilla -> spiral, throw, whatever) and put him into meaty throw / tick throw / frame trap hell. if you stay right next to his face his options are pretty limited because run game doesn’t work at that range and his normals are terrible compared to rose’s. obviously watch for fuerte’s great focus attack too, because RSF into stun is no fun to eat.
Some top players say Rose actually has the favor.
If you’re losing the fireball fight, you’re doing something wrong.
Rose wins the fire ball fight with a mixture of reflects and soul sparks.
If 8/10 matches you play don’t end up in time, either you or the Guile player are doing something wrong.
Just continue to fireball fight.
if you want to get in, keep it midscreen. >.> (out of flash kick range).
This match is at least even because between sparks and reflects, Rose is one of the few characters that he can’t force to come to him. He has to rush her down at some point to get a lead and THEN turtle to keep it, which is difficult to do against her normals.
Blanka’s wakeup sucks, you really need to get a knockdown on him first. Afterwards you can meaty into combos and tick throws. His ex reversal will hit you, but you can actually punish it after getting hit. His electricity will beat your crossup attempts though, so it’s best to avoid that.
U1 punishes blocked rolls for blanka. U2 always has its uses though.
I am fairly new to Rose(about two weeks) and I have two questions really…how do y’all deal with Cammy and her dive kick game. She puts on just as much if not more pressure than Rufus and deals out stun like a champ. Second, how do y’all deal with Blanka’s jabxxelectricity pressure…HP electricity is like plus 10 on block some other such nonsense…its almost as bad as jab hands from Honda
You can backdash/focus backdash both characters means of attack. You can focus attack Cammy dives, or s.MP. I think there are a few answers to Cammy dives, just never try to counter it with a crouching attack.
that only works to a point…i believe Cammy can OS spiral arrow to stop backdashes but it seems very good against Blanka…i was try s.MP and the best i was able to get was a trade and i don’t really like to trade against Cammy because of her damage output.
I actually don’t think that’s too much of a threat. Considering how often Cammy players tend to go for instant dives, that’d be a lot of inputs in a small frame of time. Also I think there might be too much (barely enough) recovery on her dives where she actually can’t OS. I don’t know for sure, but I’ve yet to get caught with anything for backdashing.
I also speculate that Rose would have completed her backdash by the time Cammy finishes whiffing her dive, so that furthers my lack of concern. Just try it out. Don’t put faith in doubt.
i see what u mean…the cammy i play really goes for safe dives and he comes from viper so his execution is ON POINT but im definitely going to be abusing my invincibility frames
Why for everyone does it say ‘basic strategy’? If you are going to say this it would be very helpful to us noobs if you say what the basic strategy is in the first post.
cammy is a wrecking machine… i main cammy and i HATE playing against good cammys… lol…
her tech throw/dive kick game is very similar to rufus…
instant dive kick = free combo/ultra
forget OS c.lp+c.lk… TKCS beats it CLEAN… change it to something else…
for cammy mirrors i use OS c.lp+c.lk+c.HP … to tech throw… but just use it during the throw attempt… i assume this will work for Rose too… since her c.hp is good anti air…
benefits:
- tech throw
- if she goes for another dive kick your c.hp comes out knocking cammy off and away…
but theres no guarantee… she could frame trap by dive kick then Cannon spike FADC when having meter… or dive kick close standing mp (it does stuff alot of crouch normals, and comboable into c.mp -> hk arrow)
i tried that os tech…the hitbox on cr. hp is to vertical…maybe c.s. hk…i know all about her dive kick game trust me…and i hate that stupid cr.lk to s.mp frame trap
Or try to do as I suggested in another thread and use the cr. LP+LK+MP+MK tech/focus option select. Just do it sparingly because if your opponent sees it coming he can do a cr.mp -> spiral arrow which will beat your focus attack
When in doubt, focus+backdash
The “new” grapplers are making me salty. I’m not sure how to approach them. Any tips on zoning them.
T-Hawk’s easy. As long as you don’t throw Sparks at Dive punishable ranges, he can’t come in from the ground. As for the air, I think c.HP beats Dive clean, and EX Soul Throw beats everything else.
I honestly think Hakan’s a tougher fight than Hawk, but he still isn’t THAT tough. When unoiled (which most people seem to be going with these days for whatever reason), Rose’s throw range is actually larger than Hakan’s SPD range. Short of him using EX SPD, you can pretty much just do what you normally would when he’s unoiled. Be careful throwing Sparks though, getting hit by that Slide is not fun.
When Hakan’s oiled, now we’re in a different part of town. Now his command throw range is obscene as are most of his moves. When he’s oiled, STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM HIM. Bait out a Slide, punish, then run the hell away. When you think the oil is soon ending, go close to mid screen to make sure he doesn’t do it again.
That is my same basic gameplan…but what are some of the better pokes against them. It seems like Hakan’s CR. MP is out prioritizing mine (gay) especially after slide (improper spacing)…this is angering
