…c.mk will lose to ex low and swing blow but you can go rock/paper/scissors on his wakeup bigtime. Nothings changed from Vanilla except for Satellite getting you out of inevitable corner hell.

And Metro, you need to stop being so worried about match up analysis and frame data and learn how to play the actual game against the characters…

And the fact that Balrog can’t kill you as fast as he used to, which, actually gives you more chances at getting out of that shit.
And I’ve found it easier to Soul Throw him out of his jump ins in this game. Because Soul Throw got buffed.

Oh I feel pretty content with my skill level as of now. I’m not worried about frame data, but at least I’m aware of it. Don’t be irrational. Knowing “how to play the actual game against the characters” IS match-up analysis. Just fewer words due to the directness of the word meanings.

You need to take criticism in stride, pal. I was only poking at you because you initially declared tier placement off of one goddamn normal attack in a specific situation (being meterless Balrog, like that ever happens), as if that was the whole point to your post. c.MK is good, but it wouldn’t change ranking. It’s still too early to even consider character ranking.

By the way, I’d say the match-up is more in Balrog’s favor partly because of his overhead, EX or not, having glitched invincibility against Rose’s slide.

Why does everyone keep saying this? SThrow got buffed in combo ability but as a AA IMO is has remained mostly unchanged (the 1f more invince on ex.). So am i missing somethin? Not trying to be an ass i just dont understand where this is coming from.

Anyone? I just don’t know how to play this matchup, have similar problems with zangief. I have trouble keeping them out, should I be mostly using s.hk,s.mk to space?

The biggest thing is i’m used to playing bison who has a relatively easy time getting out when trapped. Not sure what to do with rose.

@ Metroxylon ----- There is a difference between playing the game and “theory fighting”. I’m basically saying what happens during my match ups, and I’m seen that that extra 140-280 damage from throws helps a ton.

@ KazDa - probably the fact that you can see everything coming now. basically, if you activate ultra, you can see where you soul throw from. that’s the same exact spot you should soul throw from.

Saqs, what are your RPS mixups on Rog’s wakeup? Obviously you can cr.mk throw, but what else?

That would be OS c.RH to stop backdashes. Or just blind c.RH if you’re psychic.

It doesn’t matter how terrible the sweep is on block when it’s OS. Don’t think it’s a safe possibility against headbutt though. I could be wrong. I don’t use OS.

it matter, the sweep is kinda slow on startup, there’s a chance the opponent can block it even after a backdash.

Ive never seen anyone block a sweep during a backdash on wakeup. What characters can do this?

if you do a sweep minding a backdash it’ll work, but a c lk, clp ~ c hk (OS) wont work on char with good backdash.
Now a day, with c hk leaving us at -10… it’s a risk to do a sweep :frowning:

Ah I thought you were saying it didnt work on Balrog. Im guessing Chun or Gen would be some it may not.
Yeah I rarely use sweep or piede blind these days. s.HK it is now.

I am not sure. I think the range of the grab on a Soul Throw was increased, as it seems easier to use in this incarnation.

(Roogle whats up havent seen/played you in a while) Maybe it did, its hard to tell since there isnt any data on SF4 SThrow range but even then the current range is the worst air throw in the game which is kind of sucky for a special but the combo ability makes it a little better and the slightly quicker cr.hp. But it would be nice to have it AA better imo.

Did anybody notice the buff to Ex.Reflect it makes the Ex. fireballs back to two hits so now ppl cant cancle it out with a normal projectile and have to cancle it out with another Ex… I caught it the other playing my firends sakura and thought it was a decent buff. I catch myself trying to hit ex.reflect a lil more now.

Soul throw as an AA has it’s uses, but you need to predict or react to far jumps. An easy setup when your opponent is low is get 3/4 screen and lp fireball xx fadc dash forward and watch for a jump forward and insta soul throw them.

If you do a meaty cr.HK (sweep), from max range, on their wake up, it’ll push them back far enough that you’re safe, yes?

What are some options I can mix up between when my opponent is getting up?

My Rose oki game could be A LOT better.

Yeah, I noticed that it beats a lot of attacks and jump ins too. It’s kind of a good ‘get off me’ move I think…

meaty c lk, a late st mk to beat techthrow/option select throw, a throw, a backdash then dash to throw, walk back st hk, ambiguous crossup with mk.

My Fei hunts for those cr.HK’s. Especially when it’s a move that’s more than 7 frames of recovery.
