better soul spark, better U2, better sc.mk from what I’ve seen.
She’s just better in general, especially vs Abel. Not to mention, we actually have an ultra we can hit against Abel for atleast 60 damage.

And then this happened:
Also sparks don’t help for a pressure game unless you FADC… so an expensive novelty. And unsafe any way you look at it against both of Abel’s ultras.
Jump it and figure something out.
If you think about it, you wouldn’t spark Abel if he has ultra.
And FADCing is probably the best way of spending your bar with Rose, barring actual Super.
What does Abel have without meter or without ultra?
Nothing except blocking the shit Rose is going to give him.
He has to be crazy psychic to beat Rose.
I never spark fadc (outside a combo), i rly prefer to poke with c mp then confirm with a ex spiral or super, or save it if i’m in a big prob to ex spiral fadc.
And i agree it’s minimum 6 4 for Rose against Abel. St Mk completely shut down everything Abel have and give huge mixup optio and force Abel to do a random cod or try to tech or try to TT/EX TT… Plus, unless you do a completely unsafe spiral, abel can’t punish it at all.
So i’m thinking Rufus and Bison are now Roses hardest matchups. Rufus U2 is fuckin stupid. He can still pressure you like a mofo with dive kick mixups and on top of that can punish you for throwing sparks pretty much full screen. Bisons pretty much the same matchup defense wise just replace dive kicks with scissor kick/PC shenanigans.
Bison is just a pain in the ass. You cant really pressure him on wakeup since he has several ways to avoid it while he can pile on the pressure pretty easy with c.lk, scissor traps. A turtling Bison sittin on U2 is a tough shell to crack. Really hard to mount a solid strategy against him since he has so many ways to avoid and/or punish sparks. Main offense I seem to fall into is block string into crossup attempts and ticks. U2 changes the game completely since sparks are punished hard on reaction.
Pressuring Rufus is a little easier due to c.mk on wakeup factor so going offensive against him isnt nearly as hard but you still have to deal with him getting in and going into mixup mode. Once he has U2 you have to be very careful since he can punish pretty much anything you do offensively with it. Orbs will get you out of trouble once per round for the most part which is nice but once its gone you’re just as open to his pressure as anyone else. I find attempting to beat him in the air with j.HP/j.HK is necessary to keep him off of you moreso than attempting to rely on ground AAs as the variance in dive kick timing can really screw with you. Faster c.HP helps a little but either way is a risk IMO.
SAQS NEED TIPS against bison pls. My hardest matchup along with Honda. I didnt got the chance to play a rufus yet.
Yeah Honda too is a tough one. I hate his jump in and stupid walk up c.jab xx hands. We must defeat Sheng Long Luff!
i just started using that technique last friday. i’ve been doing kara throw with crouching fierce though.
That’s basically kara throw with hk and game chooses which option? So just plink hk~lp+lk?
Wouldn’t you want to kara throw with c.hp instead since it’s 2 frames faster, is cancelable and hits the jump just the same?
Honda and Rufus (with his new ultra) vs. Rose are retarded matchups for her. Honda just walks you in the corner with jab xx hands and neutral jump fierce (stop sign). Once Rufus gets ultra 2 goodbye to fireballs. (I know Guile has an option select for Rufus dive kick pressure. It’s cr. fp and throw. The cr. fp stuffs dive kicks and the throw will tech. With Rose’s fast cr. fp, could this be possible with her. I would test myself but I’ll admit I’m not very consistent at testing option selects in this game. If someone could do this it would be awesome!)
The Bison and Balrog matchups I feel are better but annoying. Rose better not do any unsafe spirals because of their fast jabs and shorts respectively. They are both long and drawn out matches unless either completely dominates with wake up pressure. No slides or even cr. mp unless it’s max distance in this matchup! It’s a bad habit to break for some people. cr. lk and cr. mk are better in these matchups as most people know.
I lost to two good Honda and Bison players at ECT2 singles. I’m gonna try and get a good session and record it with Skye who just placed top 8 at ECT with Honda. Luffy, we must defeat Honda!!!
Bison? I would say that’s 4.5-5.5 in Bison’s favor for the fact that we have tools to keep Bison in check.
c.mp counter hits everything bison has.
But the blockstring pressure he gives to us is like bambambambambam.
But now, we have soul satellite to stop that, but I don’t think that once for a round is really much of a difference.
The Bison really has to make mistakes, but don’t forget that we can beat his c.lk with c.mp.
As a Bison player, I don’t really think this is a bad MU for Rose. Bison has footsies and pressure, but Rose’s footsies is kinda of superior in this match, a not-even-that-well-spaced c.mp gives Bison hell as pretty much every other footsies tool Rose has. If the Bison player is a roundhouse spammer, remember to focus absorb and dash forward to throw. He can actually tech, but most likely won’t.
Scissor pressure: Bison is at 0 frame advantage after a blocked lk scissor, means you have the same odds of hitting him out of his c.short with a c.jab, Bison only generally comes out on top because he is more used to the timing. Alternatively, after looping it a couple times, c.short into lk scissor won’t be in range for it to be a real blockstring so you can mash a reversal and hit him out of scissor. Don’t abuse of jumps to escape because he can punish it hard with hell attack ultra combo. Rose shouldn’t be so scared of Bison pressure, just don’t get cornered.
What else… Rose’s mk (both) counters his c.short pretty often too.
Psycho Punisher: Is kinda slow, Bison can’t really punish fb on reaction that well, he has to be looking for it, so feints like whiffing a lk in a context where the opponent would think you would do a Spark is a good bait.
I recommend U2 for the same reason I recommend Dhalsim players to use U1, you can’t really hit him with it, but it’ll force him to back off a little. Just beware of his ex pc, it hits Rose out of the orbs, and avoid doing it if he’s too close (like after a non looped c.short xx lk sk) because you may get throwed.
Not really a good MU for Bison, don’t be scared.
I agree with this, No way in the world Rose beats Abel 7-3. He can mix you up just as bad as you can him on knockdown. Difference being he hurts a lot more than you do.
Edit: On Honda, Makvelo jumps a TON. Honda doesnt need to jump in a lot to give Rose problems. c.jab xx hands is more than enough. The threat of a jump in keeps you honest. Have you played Vermillion? I hate that dudes Honda
Isn’t spamming close MK gdlk against Abel ?
Jumps over all his crouching lights, it is fast and invincible to throws. That’s pretty hard for Abel to do anything against Rose in close range.
Well theres always blocking. Or backdashing. Or EX COD. Or Ultra. All risks that Rose can punish but no sc.MK is not a win button. Great for wakeup EX TT users tho and great for keeping constant pressure.
sc.MK would be godlier if it were possible to hit confirm into anything better than c.lp aside from c.mp/HP on counter hit. Just using sc.MK and going into spiral isn’t safe on block, so you’d have to know it would work, or gamble during a mix-up. Or just waste meter with FADC.
On an unrelated note, I have definitely been picking U1 against Adon. Since I can’t focus worth shit against him, I have to make my 1 chance at an ultra completely worth it. And going for chip damage from U2 isn’t enough to make a comeback in the match in my opinion… Adon is a solid aggressor so I feel forced to play Rose as a runaway character.
Backdashing gets beat by a follow up spark or spiral. His Backdash isn’t that great.
Blocking, well, let’s just say you could continue to apply pressure by doing a spark FADC. No Abel will just do an ultra because he’d be prepared to miss it.
EX COD is beaten out by a Kara-canceled j.mk.
S.MK beats out Abel’s ultra of choice; Breathless. If it isn’t a win button, it is very close to a win button.
Well, when it comes to Breathless, you have to time it so that he cannot delay the Ultra to catch you after you land from close standing medium kick, but it really does kill a lot of his options.
How do you beat EX Change of Direction or whatever it’s called? Kara-cancelled j.mk? I kind of get what you mean, but can you explain a little more?
About Rufus, I have read in this thread about close hk - throwtech option select, but I don’t think it’s really possible, if you press hk+lp+lk a regular throw comes out.
It certainly works with cr.hp, however.
But I think an even better solution could be soul throw - throwtech option select. Just do df, d, df+lp+lk. Or add a mp if you want the ex version.
I also tested (in training mode) a focus backdash - throw tech os; just press lp+lk+mp+mk and quickly backdash. You should be able to absorb a divekick and dash to safety, or tech a throw.
Indeed, if it really works this could turn out to be a quite useful universal getaway os that works against every character. I should really try testing that in actual matches.
It’s the sc.mk kara throw.
You’ll see him flash when he does the COD.
Look @ Renegade’s video (see! free promotion hahahahaha.) and skip to the part where it shows the kara throw being done on T. Hawk. I’ve found you can also do it against EX C.O.D. but you have to predict it. Besides, due to lack of a reversal and he now knows you have sc.mk, he won’t bother to TT anymore lol. He’s just losing out on 208 health, and Abel’s don’t like not having the health lead.
BTW; even if he does delay the ultra, just keep doing sc.mk. You’re in the air for like all day, or if he does delay it longer then is shown, jump to the other side of him and/or EX Spiral.
