but unless they’re doing wakeup ultra/super, I don’t see any way you’d get cl.mk off and good Akuma players won’t do that nonsense. Especially when they always choose teleport to escape whatever on wakeup.

Has U1’s hit box been changed at all since vanilla? Today, I was playing a Zangief online and tried to catch him out of him jumping over my spark with U1… What ended up happening was, he pressed HP in the air and somehow knocked me out of it. Now, I know if Rose is hit in a certain place that she gets knocked out of her U1… But Zangief was almost at the tip of my scarf (nowhere near Rose’s hand or head). Or maybe his j hp has a hugely ridiculous hit box… So my question is: Where does Rose have to be hit to cancel her Illusion Spark?

On her head basically. And that’s very possible once the initial invincible frames wear out. Giefs j HP has insane reach, sounds as a pretty good candidate to beat U1 with from a distance

Speaking of akuma’s teleport… it can be telegraphed as fuck and I still can’t do shit about it… dash slide? If I don’t have super I’m just kinda clueless on that. EX soul spark I guess.

depends. If you see it and he’s going to the other side, you might be able to get dash dash cr.MP>Spiral or something (maybe dash s.HP or Soul Piede?). Otherwise you can’t do anything unless you have meter.

I main cammy but started alting rose, so i figured id throw my 2 cents in for the rose vs cammy match.

1st off, do not use U1…Arturo hit me with it twice (1 of which was a blocked dp and 1 was an execution error) but doing an ex strike beats u1 clean as it changes cammys hitbox and if you space the non ex divekick correctly it also beats u1.

Secondly, the OS with cr.fp doesnt work against good cammys as mentioned before, not only will a delayed divekick beat it, but there are other ways around it

Lastly, while arturo is correct that ex Spiral beats cammys OS cannon strike setup, it will actually lose to cammys Ultra OS (the only thing that beats this setup is activating u2 on wakeup)

So I’ve seen a lot of people ask about the Honda matchup and hasn’t really been addressed clearly (or at least in a string of posts like most other matchups).This is one of the 2 charge character matches that irks me in this game (other being Balrog/Boxer). I know it’s not in Rose’s favor but what can you really do here? Especially when you’re down in the life lead and Honda can lame the hell out for the rest of the match? Only thing I really know in this match is to not get hands lain on me.

What punishes headbutts? (if anything?) does a super punish EX Headbutt? or are we stuck with Honda always being safe?

This matchup is the most annoying for me. I’d also like to know how to punish headbutt. When I bait it, it seems like I can’t punish it. I tried punishing ex headbutt with super and its a no go. Anyone have any ideas?

you can’t punish headbutt unless it’s the HP one with EX spiral/super. If u know he is gonna headbutt, jump back and punish it during its recovery with cmp spiral (the chp whiff often)

I played the Rufus matchup last night a lot and noticed a lot of normals get completely stuffed by his dive kick.

Is it just me or is standing HP extremely good in this matchup (From a distance). It seemed to hit Rufus quite a lot or traded (in Rose’s favor). Does anyone have any thoughts about this matchup? I think it’s obvious to use U2 but does anyone else have any experiences with this matchup?

I see that cr.HP is good for anti air but once he dive kicks anywhere it gets stuffed. Pressuring with sparks is okay but Rufus seems to close the gap quite fast

Pretty much a option select game when it comes to dive kicks. If it’s a really high dive kick, cl.HK stuffs it. Far away dive kick? s.HP. If he’s doing low dive kicks for pressure, option select with cl.HK>LP+LK.

ultrawise, I’d use U1 just cause of the possibility of the rufus player using U2. U2 is fine for a quick breather but Rufus will be back in your face. Plus Rufus’s U2 nullifies Rose’s U2.

Does Rose’s U1 catch Rufus’s U2 (avoiding chip damage also?) Orbs isn’t exactly nullified by Rufus’s U2, the orbs stay while Rufus chips away at Rose til the end. The only way orbs can get nullified is if they use EX Tornado twice

I know this may be awkward but…how do I deal with a Rose mirror? I haven’t had too much exposure to mirror matches, and I just had a couple with hnrfp, losing most of them. I can tell that U1 is the better Ultra here, as I couldn’t get in with U2. I know that I could punish Soul Spiral on block with c.MP, and not to use Soul Spark, except the EX version (the opponent’s Rose will very well use LP Reflect on an incoming regular Soul Spark). Besides those already kept in mind, any other effective approaches I could take?

former Guy main, so i know this matchup like the back of my hand

vs Guy:

–AA’ing is KEY ! cr.HP beats command elbow and bushin elbow CLEAN, but u have to learn the timing of it, its a bit tricky
–EX soul throw beats Guy’s Run/Overhead & elbow mixup (if timed properly)
–u can punish HP hozanto (used to go under fireballs) with cr.mp xx Drill
–after u successful drill, u can cross his up faily easy with a forward jump mk, even is he uses his only solid reversal (ex tatsu) u should jump right over for a clean punish
–u can pushing a blocked run/slide AND poorly spaced cr.HK with cr.mp xx Drill
–u can punish a poorly space run/overhead ON HIT with cr.mp xx Drill (timing is KEY)
–drill spacing is really important, he can punish a poorly spaced drill with his bushin target combo which can lead to his mix up
–if u sense an ambiguous cross-up, cr.HP will stuff his cross up MK but u have to use it a split second later, making it REALLY hard for him to cross her up

Guy matchup isnt too difficult, he lacks footsies, but he’s REALLY good at baiting and punishing…also, be careful with the fireball abuse, he can punish them quite easily with EX run, EX Bushin Flip (200dmg) wall jump mix-up, etc.

i dont know if anyone knows these things or not, but i just wanted to post it :slight_smile:

Okay…i seriously need some intel on the Guile match up. I’m having a load of trouble with.

Guile…damn…i ended every blockstring with Soul Spiral, low and med versions, dunno if i used heavy, but they all got FK’ed on block : \ I can’t seem to fireball war with him and when it comes to some rush down…geez…im free lol How do u guys been handlin’ this matchup?
