The Political Thread 2021

Looks like Pence brought the meth problem from Indiana to DC, eh?

Thatā€™s a fitting definition as well, according to the dictionary.

It seems America prefers to lean on the other definition with the political motives. However they fail apply the other definition to say - street gangs. Despite street gangs using fear, intimidation, and violence to manipulate the citizenry. The message being ā€œthese are our streetsā€. I bring this one up as it preceded the Great Recession locally. So we had punks targeting the elderly and murdering old women on the streets, and then the bankers leaving homes to rot - unpunished.

Itā€™s frustrating as I was complaining about this as it happened; but partisan hackery prevented any objective observation from my peers. Then once two terms had passed, objectivity enters the chat. :expressionless:

Didnā€™t matter if Trump actually believes it or not, he repeated and pushed for that narrative and would not relent.

That whole Trump was the reasonable one is BS, you are telling me Trump didnā€™t know how unhinged his legal team was and they were not a bunch of yes men following his wishes?

Even though I am all for equality, that is some real bullshit, I hope it never gets off the grounds.
Sure if you want to talk about general populace, sure keep the terminology neutral, but when you are focusing on lets say womens rights talk about women and not ā€œtheyā€.

Bah. Interesting, but I donā€™t agree nor disagree on it. I will say that I revolve my lifestyle around gender neutral concepts, which isnā€™t limited to androgynous clothes and products.

Though, I think Democrats are trying too hard to be inclusive on diversity, where even among the most anti-traditionalist persons (me) cannot be a champion supporter of everything.

Geezā€¦I wonder who it was that supported the appropiation of objects and all the information within it in this threadā€¦

His name kinda evades me at the time

Accidentally discovered North America because his calculations on the size of the world were wrong and he thought he would have got to China.

The greatest American patriot.

I donā€™t think Columbus even knew North America existed. He was too busy raping little boys in South America.

I think it has to do with whether one considers the Caribbeans as North or South America.

Geographically I know theyā€™re considered North America, but theyā€™re Latin countries so they tend to be lumped with South America in some peopleā€™s minds.

It is what is it yo. He ā€œfoundā€ it, accident or not.

Ugh another columbus debateā€¦:expressionless:

Not my fault people wanna make a big issue out Colombus. He stumbled on land. Thought it was somewhere else. Handed out some blankets, went home, died poor and alone. The End.

U left out the rape and slavery partā€¦

People can argue about Columbus all day, but Trebek was Canadian. And Einstein was Germanā€¦

Also, like no visual artists other than Norman Rockwell, who idealized America in the 20th century.

Whereā€™s Warhol? Whereā€™s Pollock? Whereā€™s Basquiat?

Fucking lame

Follow the moneyā€¦

Then again, it wouldnā€™t have been the pre-modern era without rape and slavery.

In fact, even in the modern era thereā€™s no shortage of either. Rape is just slightly more gender equal and slavery can still be found both in its traditional variant and its new ā€œwage slaveryā€ vest.

While this is true no one historical figure has been whitewashed as much as columbus.
