if you wanna drive from ny to canada. you dont have to pay anything. if you wanna drive from texas to mexico you dont have to pay anything. but if you wanna drive from one state into another. you gotta pay a toll. and the toll wont let you pass if you dont. how is that better? and the vast majority of people outside the usa, europeans, south americans, asians and africans do everything you say is so hard, without an issue. i think its more you rejecting a new idea thats very new. unfamiliar. so its repellent do to its newness. not because its a bad idea. we may be heading down the road of states leaving the union whether we like it or not.

post office hasnt been federally or state funded since the early 80s. their only income comes from us the public their customers. hence why usps service sucks.

yes i have thought about the economic differences between states. california has the 9th largest economy in the wordā¦if it was a nation. cali will do well. north dakota may not.
but i dont think a state will be 3rd world nation level of poor. imo.
that said. new york went bankrupt in the 70s. so even a affluent state being mismanaged can wreck its own economy. but as long as the states are fiscally responsible. it should go well.

also, each state has its own militia already. besides no one is invading the 50 states now or ever. whether foreign or domestic. theres 500 million guns in america. no one is ever gonna invade based on that alone. the populace is armed to the teeth. this isnt switzerland.
and states i do not believe would bother invading one another. that just resurfaces the same problems that would cause separation of states in the first place. its why the civil war solved nothing. the states in the civil war were trying to invade each other, forcing their unwanted ideology on one another. and solved nothing. if the states in the civil war just left each other be autonomous and self ruling. none of this would be happening.
you cant tell me the states are united. not really. east and west coast have their own ideology. the mid west and south have their own. and they dont mirror each other. theyre complete opposites. its not really gonna work out. social media just let the masses vent what theyve always felt for 200 years. which is misrepresentation by washington d.c.
no matter which side wins every 4 years. 50% of the country wont be happy with the outcome. lets be real. this has been boiling over for 200 years. its not going away tomorrow with chump leaving office. i feel its only the beginning.

its not republicans vs democrats. conservatives vs liberals.
the division in the public. in the states is far deeper than that i think.
its ideology. philosophy. culture. differences.
those people storming the capitol feel, misrepresented. they were willing to kill their own vice president pence rather than accept biden.
i doubt thats just party vs party.
thats culture vs culture. lets be honest with ourselves. this isnt going away. it has never gone away. its been like this. since day 1 of the union.
You donāt pay anything to cross state borders. Do you even drive? At MOST on a toll road you pay an exit toll, which you would also pay if you left the toll road without crossing state lines. Pro tip: stay off toll roads.
Meanwhile you can only cross between the US and Canada or Mexico because of ridiculous multi-layered bilateral treaties that can be revoked or renegotiated literally at a whim. You really trust 50 groups of local politicians not to jerk that shit around constantly?
You want to wait in a customs line at every border? Shit, in New England you can cross 4 state lines running errands.
You want 50 different currencies, and maybe your Virginia bucks arenāt any good in Florida? Or do you want an EU situation, where one rich country uses the single currency to fuck over all the poorer countries?
You want to get drafted into a land war when your state has a reciprocal defense treaty with either of any two states that share a river and disagree about water rights? Fuck, say what you want about US imperialism and manifest destiny, but that shit is the only thing that kept us from turning into Warring States era China.

The division doesnāt go away by tearing the Union apart though. Even in a world where the 50 states go separate youāll still have Texan cities being much more liberal than the rest of the country and upstate New York not liking the big city a lot.
