The Penn State scandal

On top of that I think that for many states, failure to report child abuse is actually a misdemeanor and in some states it a felony.

Maybe Pennsylvania is one of those states where rapists are more able to run free.

How come Joe Paterno’s name keeps popping up more than the ACTUAL CHILD MOLESTER. Save for a few people in this thread, the rest of you are a bunch of tools.

It was Mark May:

[]Had he saw the act in progress he would’ve done something about (physically or verbally) - not gone home and told his father
[
]That while Paterno should be gone, the Grad Student (who was 28 at the time) should also be gone
[]That PSU and culture in general is more concerned about the football aspect instead of the victims. Was disgusted that the first question asked at the press conference was who was going to coach on Saturday
[
]PSU committee knows a lot more than they’re telling the public due to the decision to fire Paterno was unanimous.

Overall he was just angry. Not “hey look at me acting angry” - he was legitimately pissed off about the situation.

Because he just got fired yesterday after 46 years over the whole thing. Where were you the previous four days?

Chillin’…I just skimmed the newspaper yesterday at work and saw something about it. This thread is the most I’ve read about it.

I was thinking that Sanduscky(sp mistake most likely) should’ve been brought up more.

Koop brought up the power Paterno has, but I think that was more at the school, not with the law.

You’re trolling us right?

Nah - he ain’t trolling. Grew up Philly and people love this dude with a passion.

From the article:

>“Can you imagine if everyone involved in this thing were black?”

>JERRY SANDUSKY, FOOTBALL COACH AND CHILD MOLESTER: "Monster. Sickening. Monster. Monster of inhuman monsters. One million years buried beneath the jail is not long enough for this monster. One second is too long to wait for this monster’s lethal injection.

>JOE PATERNO, HEAD COACH FOR LIFE AT PENN STATE AND PENNSYLVANIA’S MOST POPULAR MAN, FOR SOME REASON: Monster. Damn near as bad as the monster molester himself. Why didn’t he do more…something… anything to stop that monster? I know why. Those types always stick together.

>ALL THE PENN STATE STUDENTS WHO RIOTED AT THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF PATERNO’S FIRING: Jesus Christ. Thugs. Animals. Can you believe these thugs, burning and looting to protect their great hero, a common criminal?

>Of course if Penn State were a black school, none of this would have been a huge national story anyhow. In post-racial America, HBCU football sucks.

Who does this guy think he is? Why does this fucker feel the need to make it about race? He’s not even black. He tries to backpedal and say that it’s a social experiment. What an asshole.

I don’t care if you win 50 olympic gold medals, run 109 yards on a return catch for a touchdown behind by 6 with 1 second left in the 4th quarter in the Super Bowl, Hit the winning GrandSlam to win behind by 3 in the 9th inning of game 7 in the world Series, Hit a full court 3 pointer trailing by 2 from the corner opposite of the basket with 1 second left in game 7 in the NBA finals, hell you can do all that in the same evening and fix the economy on top of that.

I still expect you to call the police if somebody tells you that somebody is raping a 10 year old.

humanity disgusts me more so after learning the reactions to the people living in that state

im outi

Roberth

Did Paterno rape the kid? No. They just need somebody to fire and he was the best person they could find to lay off. It’s all college politics. The university doesn’t want the bad press so they asininely fired the greatest living coach. Penn State officials are idiots

fuck anyone who is acting like paterno did enough. also, fuck the people who want to let him coach another game with some spiked, steel dicks. in their eye sockets.

There’s one at Jezebel that’s almost identical, except it’s “what if the victims were girls?” There’s actually a pretty funny comment thread on Deadspin related to that where they just speculate on how every megablog on the internet would try to spin it to their own content.

You have no right to call anyone an idiot.

I already did and they are

OF course you did, because you’re a fucking moron.

What the fuck is with you? I made my point and you’re acting like a 5 year old about it

If you truly believe this bullshit that you’re spewing, then I hope nothing ever happens to you where you need help beyond your own power. What if that was your child? What if it had been you? Would you be cool with people sweeping it under the rug? After all, according to you, as long as somebody didn’t actually touch the kid, then they have nothing to be ashamed of, right?

Its a simple dumb mistake when homeboy only knew about the one incident and thats as far as we the people know he knows. If it was still going on after that one incident and he truly didn’t know, it comes down the higher ups who didn’t act on it when it was brought to their attention initially.

That’s right, Paterno didn’t touch kids, so all he did “wrong” was not reporting something that would have gotten him fired. He had to look out for himself, the university and the football program and he did the best he could. And what’s with your hypothetical nonsense? If I had kids would I be angry? I can’t even answer that
