Wake me up when there’s an RTX 3060. These new cards are impressive, but are set at vanity purchase prices and probably only vaguely worth considering if for some reason you feel you can’t live without 4k+.
Feel like the 3070 is at a pretty reasonable price if it’s truly double the power of a 2080. 2080’s are still sitting around $700 from what I can tell.
It’s almost certainly a better purchase than a 2080, granted.
I just hopped on the 1440p train this past week so if my 5700XT can’t handle modern games at at least 60 fps(looking at you Cyberpunk), I’ll consider an upgrade. Maybe I can get $200 for this card.
I really don’t ask for much out of my PC. If all my games hit 60 frames and I can max out the settings, I’m good. That’s why the 3070 looks very promising to me. It should slap these next gen games no problem as long as I’m not going for 4K, which I’m not.
Shit, I think even a 2080 will slap all these games as long as you’re not going for very intensive things like 4K or raytracing.
4K is still a meme to me really so I don’t mind playing at 1080p/whatever FPS I can hit.
I’m fine with playing my games on 1440P with over 60FPS. I’ll fuck with 4K once it’s more practical.
I still haven’t upgraded my monitor beyond 1080p/60hz. Next rational upgrade will be 144p 144hz Freesync- but I’m happy enough with a solid 60 for now (haven’t tasted the forbidden fruit of higher refresh rates), and my 1070 should continue hitting that for a while.
I would like a better refresh rate monitor, just so I can turn V Sync off without constant fucking screen tearing.
Getting a faster refresh rate monitor is going to be a bigger quality of life improvement for a lot of you than a brand new video card would be.
I could really use both. I can deal with Vsync more than I want to deal with the small amount of games that I can’t max out performance wise.
I may try getting a 3080 from nVidia directly on the 17th, but I’m not expecting stock to last very long (I’m thinking their initial stock will be gone within a couple hours, if that).

EA is giving away Rocket Arena (Origin) for those with Amazon Prime…
Woah, I already own it, but FUCK that is a steal.
This is kind of a big deal…
