This ended up being the issue. Dug out an old Windows laptop and managed to get the installation done on the thumb drive. Thanks folks.
Got a question. Iām using 2 monitors and I turn both off for the night(pc still running). Upon powering my 2nd monitor back on, all the windows get moved to the 1st monitor. Seems my PC thinks the 2nd monitor has been disconnected so the settings get reset including the wallpaper. Is there a fix to this? This is with my new 5700 XT. My RX 570 didnāt have this issue.
I hate windows sometimes.
All done.
Obviously my final setup wonāt have all these gross cables exposed and laying about, but for now while I download stuff and wait for my wireless K&M, Iām pretty fuckin satisfied.
Everything Iāve tried so far has ran at max settings pretty damn smoothly. Mostly been trying older/well optimized stuff like L4D2, Iām waiting for Tekken 7 and Dark Souls to install among some other more graphically intensive stuff.
Another thanks to everyone in this thread who answered my dumbass questions along the way .
You got PC Tekken 7? We gonna play some games.
Sure heckinā do. I game share it with a buddy so I can play it when heās not on.
Anyone whoās got Steam, go ahead and add me.
Iām michaelpohara on Steam. Once you find the dude with his arms folded, thatās me.
Looking nice.
I downloaded the RTX Voice software that nvidia recently released and itās fucking socrery. The noise suppression on it is mind blowing. It completely blocks out the noise of my keyboard, it can block the background noise of videos, screaming children and a half decent job at blocking loud music. Anyone wanting good noise surpression for their mics should give this socrery a shot.
I hope it is not as cringey as last yearā¦
As long as it doesnāt have a fucking monitor advertisement in the middle of the damn thing, Iām good.
Ran into a few problems with RTX Voice. So it boots on startup which I definitely donāt want but the problem doesnāt show up on the startup tab of task manager. It doesnāt show up on any startup menu I can find. I needed to download autorun to find the fucking thing and disable it. Even then I needed to run the thing as admin to do it.
According to Gamer Nexus, closing it on the system tray doesnāt kill the program. I need to go into the task manager to do that. Thatās going to be annoying. It also causes a performance hit to games when turn on.
Iāll have to wait until nvidia irons out the kinks before using it regularly.
Ok PC gurus. What the hell kind of noise is this? It only lasted for about 30 seconds and itās gone now. It sounds like itās form the cpu, but I canāt be sure. It didnāt last long enough to really tell.
Tell me Iām crazy and it was just from outside. Lol.
Sounds like coil whine. Identify the part thatās causing it and see if you can RMA it.
Gonna assume itās from my GPU since itās the new part. Or can it be cpu cooler too? I just replaced my stock cooler with this wraith prism my friend gave me since he went with an AIO.
But like I said, the sound is gone now. Iāll try to locate it again if it comes back.
definitely coil whine. You can either setup an RMA as @hawkingbird has already said, or you can give it some time to see if itāll go away by itself.
Spent about 2 and a half hours today tweaking this Ballistix RAM I got recently. Got everything up enough to where it no longer boots at 2666mhz, but at 2933. The 3200mhz timings are unreasonable and do not work, but I bet I can reach 3600 speed if given enough time.
Been using this corsair k95 mechanical kb with brown switches for over a month now and idkā¦ I donāt see the hype about these kbs. My old membrane kb was perfectly fine for gaming, and much better for typing. I just like the usb passthrough it has.
Considering returning it since I got til June and try out other keyboards. Sucks I canāt exactly go into the stores and try each kb out.
I need a low profile one I think.
