The PC Gaming Thread Phase II, The Masters of Gaming. No console peasants

They cost more money and are harder to make and harder to replace. I dunno. I use a 15 dollar keyboard and it, and the couple before it, work perfectly. Only place Im picky about anything is the mouse and the mouse I like is 40 bucks.

Edit - shit, I cut out a square of cardboard and use that as a mouse pad. Im a tightwad

I been using a mechanical keyboard for 5 years now and I find it difficult whenever I use a membrane keyboard. The keys feel like mush, itā€™s not as responsive and it will stop registering my inputs if I type too fast. I feel handicapped when using a cheapo $15-$20 keyboard.

The key to mechanical using knowing which switch to use. My keyboard has cherry MX red and they are perfect for me.

Iā€™m getting some screen tearing on this TV. Itā€™s not the PCā€™s performance, itā€™s the refresh rate on this monitor. Even when I cap the framrate at 60FPS I still get some mild screen tearing in some games.

Do yaā€™ll have any suggestions? Is it just my TV? Do I need one with a better refresh rate or?

Turn on V-sync. Eliminating screen tearing is what that feature exists to do. If you donā€™t want to sacrifice your frame rate and/or input delay for V-Sync then get a monitor with a higher fresh rate.

Also, do you literally mean TV, and is it an older model?

There have been TVs where ā€œ60ā€ fps was actually 58 or 59 fps.

Yes, itā€™s not a monitor. Itā€™s a 60" Samsung TV and my PC detects it running at 59 for the refresh rate, so I probably would just need a new display I guess.

I shouldā€™ve mentioned that this is with V Sync turned on natively through the GPU itself.

Maybe if I set my FPS cap in some games to 58 I guess? Otherwise should I just invest in a 120 Hertz monitor or something?

Well, I enjoy the hell out of G sync at 120hz. But capping your frame rate at 58 or 59 is free and easy to try.

Iā€™ll give that a shot. Thanks folks.

Have you tried turning on the V sync directly in games rather than the GPUā€™s ā€œnativeā€ settings menu?

Yes.

Reviews for the 3300x are out and they are amazing for gaming only budget builds.

Also Zen 3 will only be compatible with X570 and B550 boards. I guess my future upgrade will be a 3000 cpu.

 at Intel still charging $600 for a damn processor.

They need to hold the L for a while, I think.

That chip is supposed to compete with the 3950X. $600 is exactly competitive price wise.

So, was checking out my GPU usage the other dayā€¦ It keeps bouncing back and forth between 0%, 99% and 100%. Iā€™m pretty sure this isnā€™t normal? What do you guys think?

I want to say Iā€™ve been noticing some very slight stuttering in some games that wasnā€™t there before, but I could be crazy.
