The PC Gaming Thread Phase II, The Masters of Gaming. No console peasants

I agree, I dont need a half dozen launchers on my PC

from what Iā€™ve read so far, RDR2 will be out on Steam sometime in December. I think the announcement said December 5th if my memory serves me right, but I still think the Steam version will have the Rockstar Launcher tied to it no matter what. Theyā€™re also trying to drive traffic to the Rockstar launcher by offering pre-order discounts and the ability to choose from a list of I think either 5 or 6 of their games.

That being said, my Conductonaut and Arcticlean came in yesterday and I applied that to my CPU and heatsink. Previously, I had bought some of the Corsair thermal paste and had it on there and it was causing temperature spikes all over the fucking place. However, the Conductonaut is a fucking champ and hasnā€™t gone above 50C yet in my limited testing. Since my grandsonā€™s birthday party is today, I wonā€™t be able to fully test it until later this evening.

I just need to know the specs, so I will know ahead of time to prepare my rig!!

As far as the Rockstar launcherā€¦unless thereā€™s a major issue with service thenā€¦Fuck it!!

I will take some of the free stuff for using it!!

Even though I had bought most of those games through Steam!!

the system requirements are rumored to be announced this week sometime. Iā€™m putting odds on them recommending CPU wise a Ryzen 7 2700X for AMD, and a i7 9700K for Intel. For the GPU, Iā€™m saying theyā€™re gonna use probably 5700/5700XT for AMD and probably a 2060 Super/2070 Super for nVidia.

These odds are for 1080p High settings.

It will have a be poorly optimized port if it needs that get that kind of hardware to run the game at 1080 in high settings.

different engine that what GTAV uses. Wouldnā€™t be surprised one bit if we see RTX in the game too.

If Red Dead can do RTX then would be used as a marketing point. God forbid Nvidia needs it. RTX is only supported by five games that I know of.

Iā€™m still running a i5-6500 CPU and a Radeon RX 480 GPU

Probilly much less than that, as Ryzen 7 2700X AMD, and a i7 9700K Intel is much more powerful than what the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X has.

So Iā€™ve chosen my components

If Iā€™m lucky the motherboard will arrive before the 16th. Hope everything goes well. :man_mechanic: :+1:

PC specs and more details are out!!

ā€œMayā€ need a new CPU, because as stated by the canyourunit site, my Intel Core i5-6500 doesnā€™t meet the recommended rating.

I donā€™t see a game like Red Dead to be so CPU intensive that a new CPU would be needed. This is not Civilization game or Total War.

Those specs are tame

OS: Windows 7 - Service Pack 1 (6.1.7601)
Processor: Intel Core i5-2500K / AMD FX-6300
Memory: 8GB
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 2GB / AMD Radeon R9 280 3GB HDD
Space: 150GB
Sound Card: DirectX compatible

Ah okay
So I can pretty much let my i5-650K rock for now?!

My results from the canyourunit site

awesome, looks like my PC will run RDR2 with no problems. Only thing Iā€™m close on is gonna be the memory (got 16gb RAM currently).

Your I5 can rock. The recommended spec is for a 4th generation i7. You got a 6th generation chip. You should be more than fine.

I wish I could do that shit, but I canā€™t unless I donā€™t want to be let in the house or being murdered while I sleep.

I think you said your wife is too tech savy to fall for that.
