i’ve done that a few times as well
Dogg, did the developers happen to mention which characters were the best? What about your personal opinion? You rock, by the way!
Listing of moves, chains, which chains are TRUE (cannot be countered/reversed), footsie strategies, whiffing strategies, and a whole bunch of stuff. I do not regret it one bit.
Of course you would, you commie bastard. CHEAT TO WIN lol
And ya Dogg, you really do rock. The guide is amazing.
Found this site while looking for edit wrestler formulas for All Stars and came across the following site.
Great edits of Ziggler, DDP, Razor, Christian, Diesel, Barrett, Kamala, and, Sin Cara among others.
I loathe the term “CAW”!
I’ll be online on and off throughout the weekend if anyone wants to play against an adult who won’t rage quit, or fight cheaply.

ok can you break these combo’s into x,y,a,b PLEASE!!!
NEVER MIND! I’m getting the hang of your lingo
Some Finishers are broken, but Macho’s actually isn’t. The start-up makes it easier to escape. Even if you store it first, it gives me plenty of time to do whatever I can to avoid another KND, knowing that the elbow is coming. Plus… Hogan had a ton of opportunities to finish off Macho in that match. lol
I explained this better in the guide, but here’s a quick rundown: There are counters and reversals.
Counter - Performed on any strike or the initial grab animation of a grapple (cannot be performed on grapples at the end of a combo unless they only lead to weak or strong lockup). LB performs grab counters, RB performs strike counters.
Reversal - Performed immediately after a counter or during a grapple. In both situations the reversal icon appears. Technically, you’re supposed to use RB for this, but in some cases, LB will also work (I think this is a glitch).
Signature Moves and Finishers can only be countered. They cannot be reversed. Because of this, you have to know what type of Finisher or Signature Move it is. If it starts with a grab animation, you need to use the grab counter (LB). If it starts with a strike, you have to use the strike counter (RB).
The timing for a Signature Move or Finisher counter is much harder than a normal strike or grapple. The timing is even more difficult during the KND stunned state. However, it is still possible to counter a Finisher when you’re stunned. Think of it like a 1-frame link. I pulled it off enough to confirm it can be done, but the timing is extremely difficult because it varies depending on the Finisher.
Also of note, you cannot counter Strong Strikes at all.
I tested this a little bit and I don’t think it’s negative edge. I’ve only noticed it happening when an opponent is blocking or attempting to block mid-combo. As long as the next attack is not a Strong Strike or a true combo, you can counter it. Since a counter is virtually instant, if you try to block, you get a counter instead because of how quickly the next attack in the combo executes.
There were many times when I was breaking down the combos when I’d get a counter, but all I wanted was to test if you could block mid-combo. I’d have to wait until the first attack connects, then immediately try to block and instead of a block I’d get a counter.
This is true on all accounts. Reversal blockers are probably the most important strat in the game behind knowing your true combos. They cut the reversal window in half and make it far more difficult for the opponent to reversal. It’s still a big enough window for good players to land the reversal, but you really have to know the timing to do so.
Rating the wrestlers was kind of a no-no. WWE wouldn’t be all that happy if I say Macho Man is awesome, but Kofi is terrible (with an actual rating). Online also changes a lot since it’s really hard to counter/reverse (especially if you’re using blockers).
Guerrero, Hogan and Sheamus are all top tier IMO. I also think Undertaker is pretty solid. But that’s all assuming your opponent can counter/reversal well. If you’re fighting someone who can’t use reversals well, a lot of characters become really good.
Scrambles with everyone else to go try out Eddie
Pretty cool how we have guide writers on SRK.
Yeah I figured it would be a big deal if you made out a tier listing. But with what youve given us its pretty easy to figure out whos good.
Ive been trying to take everything you wrote and transcribe it and add a little further to it. I actually think its cool to be sharing our input with you.
So if I may ask, what are the classes of the DiBiase men?
EDIT: Also if you dont mind Dogg, would you go over my write-ups and tell me if theres anything I made an error on or any strat I need to point out or emphasize. PLEASE.
I would assume both are grapplers.
Thanks for the heads up on countering and reversing.
To be fair, Hogan had 8 chances of finishing the match before that.
Jake ?The Snake? Roberts: Grappler
Counter Style: SUPERIOR
Jake was one of the first wrestlers that brought psychology to the forefront of wrestling. Who else do you know could chase Andre the Giant out of the ring by throwing a sack into the ring? Jake knew how to get inside your head, and it helped that he carried that python around. Damien was as much a part of Jake?s game as his moveset. Jake comes into All Stars as a solid grappler with the WIDEST variety of strike combos in the entire game. And I will say this much, if you play a noobie that doesn?t know how to reverse, you can pretty much OCV (one color victory) them or even get a perfect, as his game revolves around a few true strike combos and possible stunlock.
PROS
CONS
Signature Moves: all require 1 stock of super bar and build roughly 25% of finisher bar when successful. All of Jake?s signatures are your standard standing moves.
Short Arm Clothesline[throw]: QS+QG Best KND length to set up the DDT
Inverted Atomic Drop[throw]: HS+HG
Gut Wrench Gut Buster[throw]: B+QS+QG
Knee Lift[throw]: B+HS+HG
Finisher: requires full finisher bar
DDT[throw]: tap LB(L1)+RB(R1) to “prime” finisher then tap them again to perform. Standard grab&smash finisher. Imo, the animation would look better if it were swapped with Edge?s Edgecution.
Strike Combos
QS>[TRUE]QS>[TRUE]>QS(KB) Your basic true 3 hit QS combo. Use it for guaranteed damage if the initial QS hits or after a stun.
QS>[TRUE]QS>[TRUE]>HS(KND)
QS>[TRUE]QS>[TRUE]>QG(KND)
QS>[TRUE]QS>[TRUE]>HG(KND)
QS>HS(KB)
QS>QG(WLK)
QS>HG(SLK)
B+QS>[TRUE]QS>QS(KB)
B+QS>[TRUE]QS>[TRUE]HS(KND)
B+QS>[TRUE]QS>QG(KND) Good KND combo that can be followed up with a HG on the ground for pretty decent damage.
B+QS>[TRUE]QS>HG(STN) STUNTIME! One of his many STN chains, so either use it to start or use after a previous STN chain.
B+QS>[TRUE]HS(KND-K) Because this leaves the opponent kneeling, you can follow up with a HS to juggle and follow up with F+QS>QS>QG for more damage. Also a good idea to use after a STN chain.
B+QS>QG(WLK)
B+QS>HG(SLK)
F+QS>QS>[TRUE]QS(KB)
F+QS>QS>HS(KND-S)
F+QS>QS>QG(STN)>STRICT>QS/HS/QG/HG(STN) STUNTIME! A nice double stun combo, although the second STN has strict timing, so practice it. Good to combine with other STN chains to keep mixing the opponent up.
F+QS>QS>HG(STN) STUNTIME! He steps on your opponents toes. Ring psychology and one of the dirtiest players in the game. Just another chain to throw into your mixup game so the opponent has to keep guessing with STN chain you will use.
F+QS>HS(KB)
F+QS>QG(WLK)
F+QS>HG(SLK)
Chain Grabs
(WLK)>HS>[TRUE]QS/HS
(WLK)>HS>QG/HG>QS/HS(KND)
(WLK)>HS>QG/HG>QG/HG>[TRUE]QS/HS(KND)
(WLK)>HS>QG/HG>QG>QS/HS/QG(KND)
(WLK)>HS>QG/HG>QG/HG>QG>[TRUE]HG
(WLK)>HS>QG/HG>QG/HG>[TRUE]HG
(WLK)>HS>QG/HG>[TRUE]HG
From what you can gather, Jake is a pretty solid all around character. And yes he does depend a lot on stuns, but they aren?t too hard to achieve and the only negative from doing them over and over is that the opponent can learn the reversal times, but that?s why you have to mix it up. Also having a SUPERIOR counter gives Jake even more STN?s into his arsenal. And yes, I have decided to use him as my main, although Piper and Kane aren?t too far behind. Hopefully if I learn more tactics, I will post them as soon as I can. And thanks to Dogg for writing the guide, truly truly helpful. Even though we are plagiarizing it here on SRK lol
Thanks sir. Your write-up has been linked/credit given
Will be adding a note to the initial post giving credit to Dogg for his outstanding work as well.
John Morrison will be done by tomorrow. Hopefully have the DOUBLE write-up on DX done by the weekend.
Hey guys, I actually bought this game on release day (to take advantage of the Gamestop power-up trade-in bonus), but i haven’t really started playing it until today.
I just read the majority of Orochi_Negro’s writeup on page 1. That info was VERY helpful. I was looking all over the place online for any combo information, and there’s nothing out there. Then i thought, “I’ll bet SRK has a thread for this…”
I can already tell this game is a step above any wrestling game I’ve played before. I’m just beginning to understand the combo system.
The only thing i don’t really understand yet is the reversal / blocking mechanics. When exactly should LB(L1) be used over RB(R2) ? Is L to counter grabs and R to counter strikes? Also, you mentioned that an HG requires different reversal timing than a QG… what are those differences?
Ok wondering of anyone can lend a thought.
I was really hoping this game was going to be arcade stick friendly. Largely because I don’t have a working Ps3 pad anymore. I just use a TE stick since I only play fighters anyway.
This really simplfies my controller life since its dual modded. Anywhere I go its ready to go. 360 or ps3. Problem is with all stars seems like people are only playing this on 360. Least any offline circle. So I feel like getting this game and learning it with the Ps3 pad puts me behind. Just thinking about using a 360 pad after muscle memory on a ps3 pad just gives me a brain fart.
When using the controller, it really isn’t much different.
You could technically still use your arcade stick in 1v1 matches, as long as you don’t need to change positions in a grapple or taunt. Even if you do you can always flip the switch on the TE to do so and flip it back once the input has occurred.
Hit me up with a FR on PSN and we can probably play some.
Kane write up plz.
Which ones are then?
any chance you could plink the LB and RB counters, to get a better chance of landing them, or does that not work in this game?
well that info would’ve helped earlier lol
Reversal blockers meaning when you hit RB while doing a grapple/strike, so the opponent has a tougher time reversaling your shit???
lol @ Kofi Dan
I really do gotta learn Guerrero
