ugh, computer is down so im posting from my phone. write-ups will resume the INSTANT I get it fixed.
Double F: give all credit to member DrDogg. he wrote an EXTREMELY informative strategy guide that you can grab at gamestop. im mostly transferring his guide here. im just building on his foundation. as far as when to use what button im seeing that
LB is the ONLY way to reverse the INITIAL grab and RB is the ONLY way to reverse the INITIAL strike, but afterwards in a strike combo or chain grab ive been able to use either. I would still try to train myself to use the proper button but thats something ive noticed.
SoVi3t: yah I noted the HS thing a few days ago in post #1. I also put in something that wasnt in the guide about tactical rolling.
sorry for the delay guys. will get right on it as soon as i can.
I can’t discuss anything about the DLC wrestlers that hasn’t already been revealed. However, it’s not hard to figure out their classes.
…and if you’re playing someone who can’t reverse very well, one of them is arguably the best character in the game.
I’ve had a super busy weekend, but I’ll take a look at the write-ups when I have more time. Based on what I glanced through, it looks pretty on point. Some good observations that are not in the guide, coupled with what I’ve already written.
Just about any strike-based Finisher that has a quick start-up animation is almost impossible to counter. Edge is one example.
If you press the wrong button within the counter/reversal window you basically lose the chance to counter/reverse. There are some instances in which you can still do it, but very limited.
Does anyone know Hulk Hogan’s preferred or best chain combos? The strategy guide has them all listed as repeated quick strikes. Has anyone figured out what the last few are supposed to be?
Over the weekend, I forced myself to properly learn how to use my HRAP3 V3 SA with All Stars. After doing so, believe it or not, my game has improved dramatically! Being required to occasionally toggle stick control to the right analog stick is a hassle. However, I am now able to rapidly pull off moves and combos that I was unable to pull off with the PS3 controller. It may be useful to compile a FAQ for using a HRAP or TE stick with All Stars.
If you’re having difficulty using your joystick with All Stars, don’t let your frustrations get the best of you.
Once you figure out how to properly use your HRAP or TE/SE with this game, you’ll be rewarded!!
All Stars is extremely addictive, and when using a joystick it is even more fun!!
Not to be rude, but this game doesn’t exactly require difficult motions or button presses that
would enable you to pull off combos otherwise impossible or very difficult with a standard controller. Your individual fun factor may be increased when using a stick, but anything other than that is being unrealistic.
I think I’ve been the only one harping in this thread about TE use. LOL. My thumbs are just terrible with timing and I don’t want to buy a ps3 pad just to play. funny right? The combo system seems like timing is important. So if indeed RS isn’t needed all that often, your post may have been the info I’ve been needing.
I’m glad I was able to help. IMHO, All Stars provides a much better experience if you use a quality arcade stick to play.
It’s much easier to dash and pull off precise directional motions with a joystick opposed to an analog thumb stick.
The RS is only needed to focus on specific opponents in 3-4 way matches.
The digital directional pad is only needed to taunt.
My hands are too big to properly use the PS3 controller with fighting games.
It’s difficult to pull off precise directional movements with the tiny analog thumb sticks on the standard PS3 controller.
That’s what I’m sayin lol, there’s no visible meter for it to suggest that it’s a struggle state, like with the pins and subs. Knowing that would be kind of important, you’d think.
Hi does anyone know if it’s possible to control the timing/direction of your wake-up after being slammed to the ground?
Seems to me like in this game, once you get slammed onto the mat, you’re basically in a world of hurt because your opponent can just use the wake-up timing to trap you in an infinite loop of grapples. The only way out seems to be reversing his grapple (you can’t even do the grapple counter/escape because the grapple comes in just as you wake up, like a meaty attack).
Also, is it just me (perhaps my TV has too much input latency), but some wrestlers’ grapples are a lot easier to reverse than others? I can nail The Rock’s QG reversal nearly all the time, but I can barely even do the reversal for CM Punk’s QG.
Just because there isn’t a bar, doesn’t mean it doesn’t work. Dead or Alive for example has a struggle system and meter that isn’t displayed to the user.
I really haven’t verified if a struggle escape is in the system or not. I just do it out of habit. Sometimes it feels like I get out of a stun faster but it could be lag, it may not be lag.
Side topic, RS is only required in a 1v1 fight for changing grapple positions, and even then you have more than enough time to change the stick to RS, do what you need to do, and change back. The stick isn’t required to continue chain grabs.
Just bought this game last night. I have NEVER liked WWF/E games, to me they have always felt like there is no real fighting system. I love this game however, its really really good fun. me and my mate had some epic battles lastnight, (admittedly newb friendly battles) the game is just great fun to play.
Thanks for drawing my attention to it. Maining Randy Savage and Curt Henning thusfar, will prolly pick up a brawler and a big guy for fun as well. REally need to learn the timing on the reversals and counters; i totally fucking suck at it.
Theotzu; on xbox live if anyone wants a game. (all tho if i ignore you, its prolly cause i have a RL mate around and we are playing it - just send a Freinds request).
Is there a list available anywhere that tells witch arcade ladder unlocks witch costumes?
I wanted to get Hollywood Hogan but I ended up picking the Undertaker ladder and got 2000’s Hogan. I was pissed.
