Metroid Arcade
Hi there, I’m new to all this stick building business. But I’m interested making a custom SE and I came up with this template after toying around with Photoshop a bit.

I plan on using Seimitsu PS-14-KN Buttons, a Yellow Bubble Top, and I want to paint the case Orange.
I would like some constructive criticism from the experts if they have any opinions. (please tell me it’s not terrible. :wonder:)
I like the game cases along the bottome, they will look cool with the slope of the case. you should deffinately use matching buttons with clear plungers that you can insert the art into. As far as criticism maybe add something to the black background…
Well I read through the 70 pages of this thread a few weeks ago and started gathering information on paper, lami-label, size and such but still had a few concerns about the whole situation.
This prompted me to re-read up to page 36 today to get a better understanding of the procedure and I’ve noticed some people saying lami-labeling and then cutting might allow the front side to come right off or something of that nature. Some posts suggested printing, cutting, lami-labeling, and then re-cutting the buttons holes so that it seals better.
So…yea…
I know there are people who are selling pre-cut templates, so you can cut first, but it makes me a little nervous, especially since my art has circles around the button holes, so I want to make sure it is lined up perfectly before I apply and cut.
I am going to be using a back light to illuminate the holes when I stick the image to the stick.

I dunno. I know for sure I’ll be taking a list of demands to Kinkos telling them my exact needs so they don’t mess it up.
MocPac11, that is slightly too busy. Perhaps shrinking a few of the images (like the Metroid and those Chozo statues) would give the art a little room to breathe. I think the word “Arcade” can go as well, unless you’re attached to it. Still, the cover art is lovely!

Metroid Arcade is sort of what I’m naming the stick, so you could say I’m a bit attached to it. :rolleyes:

Better or Worse?
There’s no accounting for taste, but I would try a version with the deletes you did above the box art, without adding anything else. In other words, the first version with the statues and Samus in the elevator removed.
I think the new version is nice, but now the background is competing with the foreground.
I think it would be cool if you put the background on its own layer, and set the opacity to about 50%, that would look sweet
The new version I like a ton better and the map was a fantastic add.
It’s a personal thing but there’s something about the row of games I just don’t like. I feel like they should have that small to large scrolling icon bar like macs do.
Other then that it’s awesome. (Just preference remember)

people cut there templates a few mm short on all sides so that the template is smaller than actual, then they laminate it and cut it to the actual size of the metal plate so that the seal isn’t hindered. hope this helps.

For some reason my PMs aren’t going through, but could you make a SE version of that stick? I’d like to use that… and I’m sure others would too, it looks sick as hell.
Can anyone direct me to some usable Metal Gear Acid artwork? I’ve been looking high and low and every pic I’ve found is too low-res. Feel free to PM me if you find anything, as I may forget to check this thread again.
