The "Official" Street Fighter 4 PC Thread (read first post)

Oh thanks, I didn’t know that.

So as I was saying I got a real problem playing at 30fps (while recording with WeGame). Otherwise it’s a perfect application for me.

UPDATE

I’ve tried Xfire video capture feature here’s what I found:

  • uses it’s own codec, bitrate is ~160mbps
  • can’t control video bitrate or quality
  • framerate selection: 25, 30, 60, 100

Everything seems good, but when I was testing the video capture my framerate was in the 38-42fps range. Now that is really weird… I tried Full and Half Size options, I tried that Flashback Capture thingy too (on Highest memory usage, didn’t max out my RAM anyway), tried disabling sound recording too.
I found it’s their “Xfire In-Game” (Tools–>Options–>Chat). If I disable it then I the record movie button doesn’t work at all but my fps doesn’t drop (even when I run SF4 with Xfire and am not recording my framerate is still hammered to ~40).

They’ve been available for about a week now. No discount for those who already have the console versions yet, so I haven’t bought them.

interesting, but how come when i first plugged in the ds3 to my computer it said drivers successfully installed from windows itself? i was told by other sources no drivers were needed with an intel chipset also…know anything about that?

i didnt need any drivers as well
asus a8v deluxe

im trying to save a replay on my hd and then to post it in a forum, is that possible? How can i find the replays file inside my hd? Or at least the link for the replay on Lives server?

ps: Do anyone findout how to save the replay from any match already? Id like to record “player matchs”, mainly due the players imputs.

Okay, for some reason the Search function has decided it will not work for me today. I just wanted to ask: What kind of stick is everyone using?

I’m planning to get this for PC next week, and I wanted to get an idea of what I should be looking for in a PC stick.

I’m looking for a moderately priced stick, just something to hold me over while I get started. One that doesn’t have a lot of PC compatibility issues would be great. I’m open to recommendations.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Also, adding a list of sticks and pads to the OP would be extremely helpful as well.

I’m seeing a lot of opponents yesterday show up in alternate costumes (I don’t think they’re skins). Even if they were skins, don’t I have to have the skin in my game directory for me to see them? Did Capcom release the alternate costumes without me knowing?

Yes.

You already have them. DLC is only some code that unlocks the possibility to choose them by yourself.

I still think paying for alt costumes is BS. It’s like getting a HDTV but the VGA ports are blocked and you have to fork out another $50 to unblock them.

Or like buying a TV where they put black electrical tape over the IR sensor in the factory and you have to fork out another $50 for them to take it off and give you a remote control. Oh, wait, that was normal business practice before all new non-portable consumer TVs came with remotes. I guess they could’ve instead just not made the alternate costumes at all. Or charged everyone $5 more for the game and given everyone, including the ones that don’t care about costumes the alt costumes.

So what’s the verdict on which recording program to use? Preferably while keeping the game at a steady 60fps.

I wrote to Xfire’s forum about the slowdowns in games when Xfire is running but no reply in 4 days.
I’m using Fraps for now. I really wish WeGame adds 60fps mode and it’d be perfect.

I’m pretty sure that’s because remote controls were fucking expensive back then. So you really aren’t paying for the “electric tape” but rather the remote control.

Us? We are paying for the electric tape.

BTW: Do you think it’s possible to mod SFIV PC for GGPO play?

You don’t think putting together a team of developers to create SFIV Costume’s is expensive?

Why use VGA when you can use DVI or HDMI ?:wtf:

TVs with a VGA port commonly have zero processing on it but might have processing that you can’t disable on the HDMI or DVI ports.

Well you get what you pay for.

I got the Madcatz TE Fightstick (Xbox360 version). It’s really sweet.

You could get the regular edition of it, it’s half the as much. Then later down the road you can swap out the parts for better ones. It’ll end up costing you just as much but you won’t have to spend as much right now.

Oh I’m sure it takes time and money. I’m just working with the analogy. The files came with the game. So therefore the DLC is the tape removal. It’s DLC that you don’t really D. I think it’s like more like bgf’s analogy than ZeroSum’s. Most DLC, at least you get a remote, but with the SFIV PC DLC they just take off the tape.

The SFIV PC DLC is straddling that line between “I already paid for it” and “This is something extra.” I mean if the content is actually on the disc that you paid for, doesn’t that mean it’s yours to do with as you please?

What if you buy a game, and only half of it is available until you pay more money? I mean of course that is an unlikely scenario (I hope), but IMO it’s just an extreme version of what this DLC is.

Anyways, if you support the DLC that’s fine. I’m not getting on anybody for liking or buying DLC. Personally, I just don’t think its worth it and part of me thinks that we are paying for something that used to be given as a courtesy. It’s like booking a hotel room and then having to pay extra for the little shampoos and the mint on your pillow. Sure, the hotel is just trying to make some extra money and part of me respects that, but I still miss having free little shampoos and feel a little burned having to pay for them now.

Is anyone else constantly getting randomly disconnected from matches? For the past couple of days I barely get through round 2 of any match before it starts lagging and then I get the connection lost error. So annoying.

Virgin Media is my ISP, in case someone else is having the same problem.
