The "Official" Street Fighter 4 PC Thread (read first post)

yea the comp on the PC is pretty weak too unfortunately.

in championship mode i typically will do a quickmatch and if i dont see anyone i’ll start a game up myself. the wait usually isn’t that long.

Slightly? lol.

I just want to thank Capcom for making this game on the PC. Now i have NO MORE problems in recording my matches for my own viewing anytime and as long as my hdd has space…

Get it guys, i’m using this wegame and it works flawlessly with the recording.

sample here.

uhmm not quite sure I understand what you use for recording?

that wegame thing is it a tool or what?

it’s a software… just download and you can record anything u do on the pc with a single keystroke.

sounds great man, im downloading right now!

What a coincidence… I’m actually looking for a video recording program for SF4 that suits my needs. I’ve tried 3 so far, here’s what wasn’t suitable:

Fraps - couldn’t playback the sound when recorded with the video, no control over the recorded video (gives a couple of problems 1) the video compression of the raw file is too fat (~440mbps) and even my overclocked PhenomII to 3,6Ghz cores couldn’t keep a steady raw file playback, not that you will only watch the raw files, but still… 2) since you can’t lower the video bitrate you have to have a pretty decent PC if you want to play+record and not feel any slowdowns 3) you must have an another program for recompression of the raw files 4) the insanely huge bitrate equals insane file sizes (30 seconds of recorded gameplay at 60fps came in at 1,7GB). Fraps would be perfect if only you could control the bitrate or control what codec you want to use for recording.
WeGame - max fps can only be set at 30 (too big of a framerate hit for me), uses MotionJPEG for recording video (this is great actually, since it can be played on any PC without any additional codecs installed). The video bitrates were around 29mbps for this program which is by far enough for HD videos and I could maintain a smooth raw file playback (unlike Fraps’ monstrous ~440mbps…). As far as I see it this program would be perfect for me if only it’d allow for higher recording framerates and a small addition of an FPS display in games like Fraps has.
HyperCam2 - couldn’t get it to work with SF4 ().

If anyone has any other programs to suggest then just drop the names here and I’ll check em!

I play on a little 13" macbook pro (not exactly a beast) but I have had no issues recording using Fraps set to 30fps and half size. Do you really need more than that for a replay?

I agree that the raw files are huuuuge but it makes sense that encoding on the fly would be too much of an overhead. Re-encoding can be done with VirtualDub which is free.

Yep I got VirtualDub, but I use another program for reencoding to Xvid/x264 where I reduced the workflow to 3 mouse clicks hehe.
As for recording at 30fps, well I only use Full size (but that’s not the problem since my PC is good enough to do it at 60fps). I’ll give you an example of what I get:
If I record with Fraps @ 60fps - I get 55-60fps ingame and it almost feels like I’m not recording.
If I record with Fraps @ 30fps - I get (obviously) stable 30fps but it also feels like it’s twice worse, the gameplay is choppy.

And as you know WeGame only allows for 30fps… which sucks to play during recording
I’m not sure if every PC has the same feel of the 30fps as I’m getting. Now the reaaaaally weird thing is that human eye don’t need more than 24fps (or whatever is the correct number is, I know it’s below 30) like in movies/TV. But in SF4 there’s more than an obvious difference between recording and playing at the same time at 30 and 60fps.

I am happy with wegame really… screw capcom for not giving us this option in-game though. lucky we have other software to help us.

Just ‘caught’ a ragequitter on wegame. LOL

stupid nick to start with, filthysandman.

This is because tv and movies use motion blur. 30FPS on pc looks like shit!
Try pausing a movie on your computer next time, you will see that the frame is blurry.

I’ve had a bit of success with Xfire.

SWEET GFWL… When I start street fighter, it changes my mic quality to crap. Its not just for in game. its for my entire comp.
I use tools like skype and ventrilo while I play, so when I start the game, my friends cant hear me as well.

Is there any way to change this?

Mute your in game mic by hitting home and clicking options in GFWL.

that didnt work

I’m not sure why people need ‘HD’ quality for your video capture. You are not sending it for some ‘best video quality’ competition right ?

Played him earlier. Dropped during my winning ultra cinematic when his electric spam nonsense didn’t work anymore. Don’t waste your time with this guy.

That aside though, are alt costumes available via DLC today or something? I saw a bunch of people all of a sudden playing with alt costumes today for the 1st time.

should my ps3 controller have the P1 light on and blinking? or all 4 lights on?

i set it to what you said and still get absolutely 0 response from the ps3 controller

i have an intel chipset with asus mobo running vista ultimate 32-bit, and i was told i dont need drivers for it…so i have no idea how to use this controller with my pc at the moment, any help would be appreciated!

in fact, in game where it says under options, ASSIGN 1P INPUT or whatever and asks to press a button on the device or enter on the kb, nothing will register on the controller so i always have to press enter

Is there much G1 here?

Because I arrived G1 yesterday and I did not succeed in making a match in G1 so much it is deserted.

what is it the rush hour of G1? O_o (at the same time we are only 40)

you actually do need to get drivers for a ps3 controller to work on the pc. the 360 controller is plug and play.
