This thread is for discussion of Street Fighter 4 for the PC only. Make sure the discussion stays legal! Also, no talk of obtaining alternate costumes in any way beside legit DLC!

Q: Can I use my Mad Catz Fightstick on my PC?

A: If you have the Xbox 360 version, yes, though you may have to download some drivers from Microsoft. If you have the PS3 version, it depends on your motherboard chipset. As far as we can tell, Intel chipsets don’t have any problems whereas Nvidia or AMD chipsets might not be compatible. But the fix is usually to get a cheap PCI card with USB ports.

I forsee the whole variable/fixed fps options causing a bit of trouble, if one person has it set to variable the game crawls it seems. Also configing the buttons goes a bit haywire if you try to do it from the launch screen, it’s crashed a tad for me but prob cause i have an old system, otherwise it’s pretty awesome, good to be able to have a game going in a window, and alt tabbing to whatever in the lulls. Also being able to type a msg out to the guy you’re playing real quick is pretty win. Those are my thoughts.

What sucks is they don’t have any option for low res backgrounds, they can be either on or off and they use up the most cpu it seems.

I havent had any trouble hitting combos once i got used to the ps2 usb controller. Also you pretty much wanna be able to run the game at 60fps if you want to be able to play it competantly. What sucks is they don’t have any option for low res backgrounds, they can be either on or off and they use up the most cpu it seems.

Ahh, this is what I wanted to mention! I was really upset when I came to the sad realization that my Nvidia 8600M 128 MB couldn’t handle the background. I wish they made a low res version without so much detail because it totally kills my PC. With it off I get a steady 60 FPS until someone does a crazy ultra and it drops to 30 FPS for some reason

Definitely a thread worthy topic, thanks for creating. I agree with you that The GFWL top bar accessed by the dashboard/home button is a fantastic addition to the game. Everything about the gameplay incl. combos seems to be exactly as the XBOX 360 for me though, maybe a different rig has a bearing on that.

I want to chat about the XBL->GFWL compatibilty. The funny thing is that players on XBL have a hard time determining that I am playing on PC and they keep on challenging me. Do you think that is created in this way on purpose? To leave open the possibility for future cross compatibility?

Or they are just jerks. It’s probably something they didn’t really think about, most games that are on both lpatforms and use GFWL so far have had cross platform play.

Could be. Maybe they overlooked it. I always see friends with achievements for the game called something like “Grand Theft Auto 4 - PC” I think they should add “:PC” after SF4 so friends can tell what you’re playing.

I’m also hoping they do add cross play out of the kindness of their hearts. If they do decide to add it in an update, it’d be wise to have an option to select for windows play only or windows/xbox.

It’s a 2.2 Core2Duo. 2 GB RAM. My character models are on medium or high I think so maybe that doesn’t help I don’t recall my other setting offhand.

I was wondering if you use keyboard can u use keys for kicks and punches or do u have to use the mouse (right click kick, left click punch for example)

I would prefer to use keys as it would be like way of the exploding fist all those years ago!:karate:

Since there are 3 levels of each punch and kick you need 6 buttons so a mouse wont work. People use keyboards if they don’t have an xbox controller or fightstick around. It will work

Someone needs to start working and hack this game. Give us options to record, add custom made characters ala mugen…Or is this wishful thinking?
