The "Official" Street Fighter 4 PC Thread (read first post)

Do you think that a MacBook Pro with the 2.53GHZ processor and 8GB of Ram would be able to handle it? I can get my hands on one of those.

^^^ Could it be your laptop overheating?

Here’s an idea,

DON’T BUY FUCKING MACBOOKS TO PLAY GAMES
It sucks for gaming. The processor is shitty and so is the graphics chip.

What’s really funny to me, is that my gaming PC (which by the way plays SF4 great, and gets 7938 score in the benchmark with everything on the highest settings) cost LESS than a macbook. Fancy gaming keyboard + mouse, monitor, 4gh processor, fancy case, EVERYTHING, cost less than buying a weak-ass macbook.

For the price of that mediocre macbook, you could’ve bought a really good PC.

Lol, im pretty sure my stick is better than yours. Ya seriously, if you cant help, just sthu Mr Knowledge.

Where do I neg rep you?

Doing this has pushed it up to 28fps immediately. Thanks

OK, no dice. Even on the worst settings known to man it still scores a D.

Can someone tell me if a MacBook Pro 2.53 Ghz with 8 GB Ram and an Nvidia 9400m card would be able to run the game?

The only reason I ask about Macs is I can get them at a significantly discounted rate as opposed to a gaming PC laptop.

No, stop being a cheap ass and buy a freaking gaming PC already if you care about actually playing games instead of watching controlable slideshows.

As much as I love Street Fighter, I don’t want to spend 1100 on a laptop just to play it. That’s a brand new 50" TV for my front room. Or a month’s mortgage payment.

I’m just confused because this MacBook exceeds the Recommended spec but can’t run the game properly. If anyone can tell me sensibly with some patience for a layman if a MacBook Pro could handle it, I would be greatly thankful.

Who said you should buy a laptop ? I’m talking about REAL gaming PCs aka desktops.

And your MacBook is far from exceeding the recommended specs.
Your GPU is a entry-level GPU aka “not made for gaming”. Not only that, it’s also a entry-level GPU for laptops. I’m talking about a really shitty GPU.

Dude, the 9400m is a shitty video “card”.

Let it go, macbooks suck for games. LAPTOPS suck for games. Do you have to get a laptop?? You could cut the price in half easily (and more) if you just settled for a desktop PC.

That’s the thing! He doesn’t have to be cheap! Whatever he’s willing to spend on a macbook is MORE MONEY than a way way way better PC.

Macbooks are just expensive fashion accessories, like a new purse.

If I wanted to play SF4 in my house I would do it on the 360 and PS3 I own.

I wanted specifically to be able to run SF4 on a laptop because I want to be able to play the game when I go away for work and am stuck in hotels for 5 hours with nothing to do.

I understand why you are saying get a desktop PC, and from your frame of reference it makes perfect sense. But I need a portable laptop system, small as possible. The MacBook was the best option for me at the time because I got it for half price, the specs were above the recommended level and it was on 13 inches in size which meant no need for a huge bag when I get on the plane.

So would you be able to tell me if realistically an apple running an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.53GHz with 8GB of RAM and a GeForce 9400M would be able to push out SF4 at an acceptable standard? I would greatly appreciate the views of people who know more than me.

Thanks.

It should definitely be playable. I’m running a 2.4ghz Core 2 Duo iMac with 4GB of ram and a Radeon 2600 HD. That’s a better card than the 9400M, but still in a similar class. I get about 50 fps on the benchmark at 1280x720 resolution and default settings. With fixed frame rate on, it’s quite fine. A RAM upgrade might help you the most at this point.

Regardless of system specs, Macbooks are not built for gaming, unless you count the old Halo port, Marathon, etc. A 60fps 3D fighter is a revolution for PC gaming, which has already has a glorious legacy.

Technically it probably has something to do with how the motherboard is structured in a macbook, in addition to what Parallels/Boot Camp/VMware Fusion is doing.

The downfall of the PC version of SF4 is that a lot of people have bought the game not meeting the recommended requirements, Ive had so many matches and most of them lost because the game runs at 30fps cause my opponents PC sucks :\

fyi a 9400M doesnt even meet sf4 minimum requirements, a 6600 is faster. 9400 is just a geforce 9 generation 6200, and on top of that its the mobile version of the card which is probably downclocked and has less shader units to save power.

I figured out my problem, moved from wireless to wired and presto, a lot less lag. Now, if only that didn’t involve me moving my PC every time I wanted to play. ;l

For serious?

:frowning:

That’s what we were trying to tell you since page 56…

Macs are overpriced fashion accessories for old ladies and little girls who can’t figure out how to operate a proper computer.

They don’t break and they’re easy to use. That’s great, but for gaming, they’re crap

It would have saved time if you had stated it like a normal person, rather than in a rude dismissive manner.

wanders off to find a 15" PC laptop then

Recommendations welcome.
