The "Official" Street Fighter 4 PC Thread (read first post)

You may think that, but there are alot of people who don’t have time to go to gatherings and such and online play helps them improved compared to just hitting up training mode. “This is making me a worse player” Lol, only if you’re using it as serious comp.

Seems like more people are starting to pick this up and have good connections(3-4 is fine, but the occasional 5 is awesome.)

No seriously. The lag lets you get away with shit you couldn’t otherwise and prevents you from doing shit that you’re supposed to.

This isn’t decent practice.

Also, trying to explain to a Russian speaker to FUCKING CHANGE FRAME RATE TO FIXED is a blast.

if anyone wants to get some games in anytime add me.

I’ve only had a few occasions where input lag has put a game in someone’s favor. Could be it’s on your side.

I used to think that but after playing on good connections I like it. I would def re-acclimate to non-online play for a good 5 hours before evo though.

waiting for g2 matches are painful, i would be down for some casuals if any of you guys are on.

true that.

So far, playing on PC for me have major pro and cons.

Cons

  1. standards of play definitely much lower (at G3). Winning people of substantially lower skill level doesnt really bring much satisfaction.

Pros
2. Ability to find a reasonable pool of players (Ranked and Championship)
3. Better connection overall.
4. Execution feels smooth (own opinion)

after about 30 hours of offline practice, i started playing online… i noticed that online, there is a very slight delay on the control input which is really throwing me off… at first, i attributed my losses to just me being a new comer online but the more i play it, the more i notice this delay in the inputs… i am getting hit with simple fireballs that i’m trying to jump over… my blocks are so delayed that i get hit even if i see and try to block on coming attacks from a mile away… i have troubles landing simple combos like jumping HK-HP-Dragon punch… i know i need more practice but this delay is really frustrating me…

any help would be appreciated… i’m on a fairly fast cable connection… i’ve set v-sync off and fixed frame rates… i don’t know what else to adjust…

To be honest, i really haven’t had a real problem with delays unless i play someone with like 2 bars then its bad. and im on a cable connection with the same settings.

I guess your mileage may vary, but I’ve had my share of awfully laggy and completely smooth matches. Overall I’m having a lot of fun with this.

Hit me up if you want some friendly player matches. I main akuma (pretty rusty with him, haven’t played SFIV in a month or so) and I’m learning boxer.

so the controller lag i am experiencing is basically dictated by how good both of our connections are…? how do i find out how many bars i have…?

also, sometimes other players have their mics on… i have a Logitech webcam that has a built in mic… how do i make sure the mic does not turn on automatically when i enter a match…? is there a way so i don’t have to hear the other player…?

I think there’s a mute option in the GFW guide, but I don’t kknow if the person you are playing shows up immediately as you play him. The bars that your opponent has indicates the strength of the connection between both of you, so basically that’s your bar too.

Its not slight. In a few months you’ll be able to feel a 3-4 frame input delay and your standards for online play will shoot up.

Guess what, i am getting much better timings in PC version than PS3. e…g Rog’s jumping RH, cr lp -> cr lk -> HB has never been easier.

uhm, i must be dum, my shit sucks. help! im running a 2.6 ghz 3 gb ram geforce 9400 1gb video card, and it doesnt even run smooth with everything off, on its like playing cvs2 live with someone in europe from cali. what did i do wrong?

after playing online and only winning 6 out of 36, i started to doubt myself… but now that i know what’s going on, the most bars i’ve played against was only 3…

i also set hardest vs computer and put Seth against my Akuma… i can beat him on hardest over and over again… i know the computer doesn’t play anything like human opponents but i was gauging how bad i really am and we all know how cheap computer Seth is…

My online win record is simliar. About 7/40. 6 of the 7 I won were against similarly low ranked opponents with almost zero BP. I just beat a really high ranked Seth player with Bison though, and it felt really really good  Doing all the Trials really helped my game.

I don’t have any laggs at all, if I choose the right players. No honestly, I live in Germany and have very good pings to England, France and of course Germany itself. I’m really surprised, the online mode is way better than I thought.

hey its doodwut i played u a couple of times… ur chun is pretty good
