No doubt. It’s almost worth another thread or a sticky to tell people…everyone in fact to put it on FIXED.
I run a fairly powerful PC (110fps maxed on benchmark) and even so I run it on Fixed. It just seems to react better.

So ‘fixed’ is what it’s supposed to be on to maintain the correct game speed correct?
I have it set to ‘fixed’ but sometimes when I play people the game will get choppy. Is this what happens if the opponent is playing on ‘variable’?
PC version seems to refresh the bars a lot more. I have had much better connections in general so far. I am running the game at full everything 1680x1050 on my desktop and I have to run it in a window on my laptop but it runs pretty well. Pretty happy with the PC release, though I have been using a 360 controller because I can’t find a comfortable place to put my joystick in front of my computer.
Yeah I have my joystick on the desk to try and I stand up to try and mimic arcade feel. But I have to do like half-splits to get down low enough so my leverage is right.
I seem to perform best this way though. I’m alright with it on my lap but the joystick slides around too much.
My mic is still not working, what exactly did you do?
Also, is anyone else getting 4-5 bars and then after 10-15 seconds it drops down to 1-2 bars?
Thanks, but I got it covered. It was a bad shortcut I guess. I opened it up in steam and it worked o.O. Having a wonderful time online, I personally have found a few good players -with- it set on fixed, too. Getting whooped on and whooping on some ass, lol. I’m more used to the 3s roster so the whole sf2 gang is a new deal for me.
Played it all day today. I found out two things.
While quite playable, I have been playing with everything on low except the model LOD which is mid. The Spec are a LIE! Anyway I had some pretty enjoyable games. It seems that the timing is different on the PC version than on the 360.(ugh!) That will take some getting use to. I have had tactics that usually succed just die at the controller.
BTW setting you framerate to Fixed and your V-Sync to Off is the way to go. Also Make sure you have at least the March 2009 release of the DirectX Redistributable Pack installed.
Alright guys so ive been hyped as heck for the pc release of SF4( since i dont have 360 r ps3) so i was wondering whats the best wat to get it like steam r just go to target r sumthing? i have a pelican to ps3 converter so hopefully im set. i also scored a “B” 55 avg fps with everything maxed. i was wondering whether if the online is good to go? any advice from you guys that have it yet? thanks for the input guys!
I seem to be having a different experience.
Overall it just seems more inconsistent connection wise. Whats with the (literally) slow motion matches? I heard it was a fixed/variable frame rate issue…how stupid is that?
I’ve had matches that seem to run in real time but have an input lag of almost 2 seconds (literally i’d go to crossup and i’d hit the ground and do a standing mk 1 sec later).
Really i’m just pissed that most of my inputs for punishing stupid ken-ryukens were dropped and I ate the followup ken-ryukens. Literally the guy somehow was able to get two back to back hp.shoryukens before my TT punish would land (I play Abel). Trust that I know the timing perfectly…I pride myself on punishing Kens.
It seems like I’m going to have to learn a whole new timing for PC online play, aside from XBL online play and ACTUAL game play. God forbid I want to participate in a tourney someday.
which version has the most # of players online?
I’m gonna assume XBOX LIVE.
It seems like those super laggy amtches are people trying to run the game on systems that can’t handle it, and as a result it has to slow the connection down for you.
i like the steam version cause you can join the user created street fighter 4 goup chat and talk to people while playing there jus like GGPO
try pressing “HOME” then go to settings then choose your mic there. I use my USB mic on it just fine. I just dont have it turned on cause i go crazy after performing a clutch ultra and i dont want to piss the other guy off haha.
Ugh, I guess my connection is just more garbage than normal, since out of the 3 matches I’ve played online, all of them required as Balrog I put in his ultra motion before I see his headbutt start on screen. Though locally it runs beautifully, and no obnoxious occasional slow down on the Drive in level too!
Finally got my key. This shit is great.
Haha indeed.
Played all day, was a blast. Even though I still don’t understand alot of things (character specifics) it was enjoyable. Seems like I only ran into slow motion games from new people, everybody seems to be catching on to the “fixed” frame rate or just don’t play. (TY)
anybody that’s good hit me up Metric3s, I need good practice, I’m literally like 103-7 on ranked matches, I feel like Daigo over here owning keyboard users.
anyone know how to configure the home key? not using a xbox joystick
thats a good question, even if you get it to activate , i cannot move around in GFWL with a stick, can any 1 navigate with a pad or stick in GFWL??
