SF4 Rainbow edition, great idea  Not.
My laptop is running an 8600M, and with everthing low or off (excluding backgrund which is high, and a fixed FPS), I can manage 60 throughout an entire match with supers/ultras. What CPU are you running?

I have an 8600m in my laptop as well. Its a last generation macbook pro with an intel core 2 duo 2.4. I had to drop everything from v-sync to the lowest resolution, and kept the background at high and models at high, particles at medium. I get an average of 58-60 fps that way. Im not sure if that is good enough or not, I will just have to see when I try it online I guess. Its so annoying how for the most part macs cant handle games.
Game runs superbly on PC with a decent build. I’ve got every single thing maxed out with 2xAA/8xAF and V-Sync on:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40Ghz
2GB RAM
GeForce 8800GT OC’d to 675/1950 (I have 2, but SLi makes this game run horribly)
Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit (Going to upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit in a few months)
Framerate very rarely dips below 60 @ 1680x1050 resolution.
Phenom X3 8650 (stock) with 4GB DDR1066 (stock) and a Radeon HD4850 (stock).
1680x1050 0xAA 4xAnisotropic provides a completely stable 60fps experience. Adding AA to the mix causes loss of framerates during certain motion blur “slowdown” events (certain ultras during startup or after connect), but even at 8x it’s otherwise completely stable.
ATI cards aren’t a real problem with this game if your card isn’t old as sin.
As a note, I would’ve also enjoyed seeing something other than shaders that PC users got, but LAN would almost completely undermine the use of LIVE via Hamachi (and when MS puts money into a game, they make sure to bank on their investment). I’ll get over it since I can at least play with 2 input devices offline, but if I REALLY wanted LAN (or no-LIVE netplay) capabilities, I’d probably try something involving PPJoy. It’s a pain in the ass, but doable.

Finally got the game and one thing I noticed was that setting the frame rate to “Fixed” is the ticket in this game being played online 100% perfectly with machines that meet the lowest standard. Pretty sure this effect doesn’t work on the download-able benchmark that came out.
What this feature does is forces your frames to 60, regardless of what you throw at it, it will try its best to equalize the settings as best as possible and keep it at 60 frames so when you’re online you don’t make the game play slow motion.
I went from having to play on 800 x 600 with fixed aspect ratio (takes off widescreen force; eats more fps ;nvidia settings) everything on low except background quality to playing on 1280 x 720 (widescreen! huray) with medium or high model quality, everything else i just set off for the best results. I kept it on medium due to it not feeling as smooth. Vsync On and Off had the same effect.
Another note, this game was almost impossible to run on Windows 7 on my PC, had to downgrade back to Windows XP (200 mb on idle) rather than (800mb) makes a huge difference.
My computer specs: (3 year old computer)
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Single core (2.2 GHZ)
2GIG Ram
**Geforce 6800 XT **
Windows Xp
22" WideScreen.
I think some of the first “mods” we’ll see are nude models for cammy and chun. Who doesnt wanna see them with patchy miscoloured boobs and a pink line down below instead of the panties, huh?
Does anyone have any luck using a PS1 controller? I have tinkered with it a bit but i cant get it right.
I also gave xpadder a try but to no awail since SFIV kindly autodetects that i have a pad plugged in (my custom stick that is, hacked PS1 pad).
Any pointers?
You CAN change much smaller things such as the music. Just because its SFIV doesnt mean its stamped in gold and should never ever be touched.
Offence should be taken for this kind of blanket attack that obviously hold no research or thought out opinion.
Edit: OK, it can be done with a lot of patience and tinkering. Damn i wish they listened more to Sirlin on button configuration…
guys can you all test turn down the bgm fully in the options menu can you still hear the Bgm (music ) playing???
turn up your speakers and test it out, i want it fixed, when i play with no music and just sound fx cos i hate the SFIV soundtrack , i still hear the goddamn music.
No it doesn’t.
To get rid of the bgm, you can swap in empty text files for the bgm files, which will disable music. Gotta be sure to rename the text files exactly what the old bgms were called, though.
There’s a thread here or on capcom unity showing how to do it in more detail
linked arcade machines = lan
The console versions are the same way, but at least they give you the option of playing your own music through the media player. There’s no option for custom music in the PC version. You can’t even play MP3s because you’ll still hear the shitty music playing softly in the background.
I played the PC version at a friend’s house. I’m still in shock that they don’t force frame-skipping online. Input delay is bad enough, but the PC version has the additional ‘benefit’ of forced slowdown if the person you’re playing with decided it would be a good idea to disable frame-skipping even though his PC is 5 years old. What the fuck, Capcom? Hire some roundeyes to do the internet code next time.
i have problem with fps drop in sf 4. after a couple of fights the fps drops to 40 to 45 from max 60. this happens randomly. i tried tweeking with the settings but that didn’t solve anything.
my pc spec amd athlon x64 dual core 5200+ with leadtek gf 7600 gt and 4 gb ram
please help
^Have you turned off variable framerate?
Yeah, but that setting goes out the window if you play someone with it enabled.
I’m not going to worry too much about it. Once the game is released everywhere it’s going to become pretty obvious to Capcom that it’s a problem. It will just get patched.
What are your system specs? The background setting didn’t do much to change my fps. V-sync, character models, and AA above 4x were the kickers.
It shouldn’t. Have you tried upgrading your drivers? SLI can be a tricky thing to get right.
The players and the system its running on?
You would be surprised
