wow good effin luck man. all LT characters.
Well besides Ganon and Falco. =/
Though at high level play it can be quite difficult to get that grab in with the Ice Climbers. Tournaments show that it cannot be easy enough to do to make it take over any tournaments, since wobblers donât really win them. The technique itself is decently easy, though I have been practicing for months and still donât have it down perfectly.
w/e bra you are terrible at everything
lol Ibanez has negative rep, what up son?
Yeah, ended up not being able to make it to SF, but I did head down to some other town and played smash against a good IC/Jiggly player and had a money match recorded
Howâd I do? Wait until his lazy ass puts the video up on YouTube
Sorry, itâs a boring match playing Ganon against IC, trying not to get grabbed and spamming fairs, but it needs to be done
you are the 1st person besides me who had the balls to play that matchup.
I counterpick stage with FD, though my Ganon works better on platform stages, I would be able to see what theyâre doing b4 they attack.
If they WD like crazy towards me I usually throw a f+B, d+B. Theyâll fall for it 50% of the time, just donât do it twice.
I do a lot of slaps, keeps em away.
IMO, you gotta have some distance and SHFFL game, because ICâs are mostly centered towards the ground.
I consider it a match of well played turtling.
It is a turtle and punish match
It turned out to not be that hard on my part, if I was grabbed I would either DI out of the chaingrab or I would DI up and then I could attack or jump out, making it hard for him to get me
All the wavedashing left him wide open for the huge Ganon Kick, if you can SHFFL right then after an air attack when they try to punish you, you can just jab them
You just want to kill Nana, then itâs mostly easy, and if youâre good with the reverse u-airâs (great edgegaurd technique) then itâs no problem to keep them off the stage
SPOILERS!!: Yeah I won the match 2 - 0, free money, just waiting for him to put it up
I love Ganon vs IC matches. Good stuff.
Lol I just had a little convo with my friend and we realized that wobbling isnât as good as it sounds.
at higher levels its a lot like shine spiking. if you do it at the right situation and donât mess up. well wobbling is less risky, but I think theyâre sorta similar.
Look at cata3 Chu got raped by DJâs marth simply because chu kept trying to shield grab djâs non spaced aerials only get reversed up bâd in the face.
Then at pound2 where wobbling was banned who won? Chu.
IC are better without it, its a tactic that helps them but only when used in moderation if your entire game is to wobbling youâll win at mid level play. However once you get into that higher level youâre tactic will be easily avoided and youâll get raped horribly
The thing about wobbling is that you can wobble from a normal chain grab, so if you grab at 0 you can just do the normal dair cg into a wobble so your *victim *canât break out as easily, if at all. Wobbling and shine spiking, on there own, arenât stupid tactics. Quite the contrary, they are both very good, but like I said, you have to have good judgment in regards to their use, which is what seperates the best from the rest anyway.
I donât attribute chuâs loss at cata, or any other tourny that allowed wobbling strictly to the fact that he put a lot of energy into trying to land grabs, cause he did land many grabs, and he did take stocks with wobbling. There is really a lot more to it than that. Chuâs victory at pound 2 was also about more than not being able to wobble. I think a pretty important thing that not to many people may know about is PCâs counter pick vs. Chu. He went peach, which is good, but he also went to FD. WHY PC, WHY?!?!
Chu is mad good wit dem eskimosâŚ
^ all I know is, when I see IC trying to wobble every stock they fail. When I see them playing their character and wobbling when the situation presents itself they rape.
Look harder.
Lol whatever, you donât see IC winning tourneys for a reason.
Ice Climbers really need to work on a large mix up games cause they rely on making sure the opponent can not read what they will do and DI accordingly. If you watch Wobbles and Chu you will see tons of mix ups in there games. At low percent you cannot wobble, and believe it or not many characters can smash DI out of the dthrow dair chain constantly without fail. Mixing up with reverse dthrow dair and blizzard smashes help out enormously for keeping the pressure on. Thats what Ice Climbers have going for them, an intense pressure game. However once Nana is out of the picture Popo actually loses it all⌠the whole pressure game is gone.
Ice Climbers do not win many tournaments because it is actually hard to keep these pressure games on, without your opponent catching on to something or just getting lucky by randomly choosing the right direction to DI in, and keeping Nana alive all at the same time. Many players just can not keep this up. Not to mention the fact that Ice Climbers have so many bad counters. Peach definitely being the worst. Heck all of Ice Climbers little zoning tricks donât work against her at all. Plus against most floaty characters the pressure games that the Ice Climbers can run are significantly lowered.
Wobbling is definitely not nearly as good as people make it out it be, and you canât just randomly mash A. You have to actually somewhat time it. My friends and I were playing the other night and I had just decided to play Ice Climbers the week before and I seriously could only keep them in a wobble half the time, itâs not just plain mashing.
But itâs still not that hard. But then . . . when did difficulty have anything to do with banning something? Peachâs dsmash is ridiculously easy to spam and completely rape someone with, Falco has that stupid spike that will kill just about anyone at any percent, Shiek can chaingrab 75% of the cast into death tilt fair combos.
I dunno. My region plays with it as fair game. . . not that anyone plays Ice Climbers seriously anyways.
YeaâŚwobbling is cheapâŚat lower levels of play. I main ice climbers and used to wobble almost every oppurtunity i get before it got banned in my area. Obviously many people lower skilled people claim that its the cheapest move ever because they keep getting grabbed. I played many proâs while being dependent on wobbling and they ALL know how to counter it. Its seriously not hard once you know how to space your arials. Most nooby ice climbers just sit there and wait for the shield grab, but if you space your arials theyâll miss the grab then you can hit them in the lag of there grab. Also nairing or dairing behind the ice climbers and/or there shield make it impossible for them to grab you. If you do those things correctly then turtling ic players cant grab you, there only option left for the grab is wd --> grab, wd --> jab --> grab, or simply jc grab. Its also incredibly easy to mindgame lesser skilled ic players because there CONSTANTLY looking for the grab, so you already know what to look for. So tips to avoid ic grabs would be to space arials, nair/dair behind them or there shield, use moves that are impossible to be shield grabbed (dair --> shine), and to use moves with alot of range. Before when i used to face proâs i used to depend so much on wobbling, now that im not dependent on it anymore i can actually focus on other things going on in the match. Thats what i think happened to chu also.
Also i think ganon vs ic is like 70% in ganons favor. Some ic players consider him a counter for many diff. reasons. Theres no chaingrab on ganonâŚdi down and away for the dair chaingrab and opposite for the reverse dair chaingrab. For the downthrow --> downsmash cg you can just double jump out. Also when icâs wavedash toward you just jab. Jab is one of the best moves ganon has. Its extremely fast and it knocks the icâs back a decent amount. Also i wouldnt recommend you used down b/side b, there both incredibly laggy so if you miss youâd either get grabbed or downsmash and lose a stock.
Iâm so sick of IC talk. THE ICE CLIMBERS SUCK CAN WE TALK ABOUT SHEIK VS MARTH OR SOMETHING?!?!
Grab. you win.
now that thats out of the way BACK TO IC
Umm Iâm sort of a total n00b to this game, so can someone help me out with-
Kirby
Luigi
Ganondorf
Thanks

Ganon
Try to learn tech skill before anything! Especially with people like luigi and ganon. Ones you learn things like wdâing and shffling the game becomes way easier and then you can focus on getting good with a specific char.
