I skimmed a few previous posts regarding sonic bk and I love this part.

Told you it would suck!!!:arazz::arazz::arazz::arazz::arazz:
Oh yeah n for all those saying sega should go back to making 2d platformers you haven’t realized that will most likely never happen because the past few years show sega thinks no one will pay $60 for a sidescroller.
It’s not the gameplay that ruined Sonic BK though zoolander. It’s laggy input and the tiresomeness of endlessly shaking the controller. The actual gameplay mechanics are pretty sound.
The game is indeed bad…but like we’ve stated before it’s bad for dumb ass reasons that could have easily have been fixed. This game could have easily been awesome especially from hearing reviewers generally saying the same thing about the game. The story was actually pretty good since it didn’t really take itself seriously but good music, great graphics, and good story do not a good game make. I think they just need to take a break from the series and do other things and just have the next game brewing on the back burner until they can get the gameplay just right. They’re making good money off of MadWorld and I’m sure they’ll get even more from The Conduit and Bayonetta.
On topic: As good as the handheld games are and as well as they sell(or so I’ve heard), why doesn’t SEGA just focus on those and not bother with this Sonic and the Cursed Stone of Yiff bullshit?
I thought Advance 1, Advance 3 and both Rushes are very solid in their own right. The first two are more inline with the older games in combining platforming and speeding, while the Rushes emphasizes a bit more on speed than platforming. Not as much as Advance 2, IIRC; it was good and all, but I felt I was just like I was playing a racing game instead of a platformer most of the time. Might be just me, though.
as good as the handheld games are…I still want them to try to get the gameplay right for the main console series. From the past console sonic games that have come out I have faith that a 3d sonic game can be done correctly and done really well. Is it going to be done by sega? Hell if I know cause everytime one that’s been released it’s always a ‘ALMOST THERE…BUT JUST NOT QUITE’. 360 Sonic Unleashed daytime stages right now are the closest I feel to getting to classic sonic gameplay with some new added elements. That and that alone needs to be tweaked I feel but Sega has on these beer goggles that make them see everything in some sort of fuzzy way. It’s like the answer is right there in front of them but no matter how many times they stare at it…they flip it up side down and go ‘TA DA!’ and it causes everyone to perform a face palm.
I’ve already said it before in some form but since Nintendo and Sega are on friendly terms they should really just get together and do a Mario/Sonic game and just have Miyamoto survey the damn thing. If anyone gets out of line he’ll just upend the tea table and make them do that shit all over again. That’s one option.
The other option that’s already been mentioned before is well is just outsource the damn series to someone else for a moment and see what they do with it. If Bioware can make a Sonic RPG decent/good then I think anything is possible. But besides Dimps I don’t think Sega is willing to let anyone else touch the main series.
I’m not expecting another Sonic game to show up anytime soon besides possibly Bioware’s sequal to chronicles. That game was released September of last year…so maybe we may see some sort of trailer or something by E3 if bioware is serious. If not then definitely by next E3 it’ll show up.
speaking about Chronicles…I was curious about a majority of the music for the game that I didn’t recognize to se if it had actually been remixed or was original. They pulled tracks from the Japan version of Sonic CD as well as the Saturn version of Sonic 3d blast. I only recognized 2 tracks as being rearranges from 3k…I wish they had done more rearranges from the first few genesis titles.
IIRC, they credited Richard Jacques, who also composed Sonic R and Sonic 3D Blast, under “Additional Music” in the credits, so I suppose that’s why you see these 3D Blast tracks in the game.
Spagonia adventure pack is out for Sonic unleashed(360). I still wonder why the ps3 still haven’t got these cool packs yet. I have yet to see the chu-nan pack for the ps3.
For the longest time, I just wished that Sega would realize that the SatAM/Archie Sonic universe rocks and would make terrific material for a game. I read somewhere a long time back that Bioware wanted to include some of the comic characters in their Sonic Chronicles game but Sega said no.
Archie universe actually isn’t that bad…especially right now. I’m enjoying what’s been going on in the story so far. It ain’t Marvel/DC material but for a comic based off of SatAM and the Sonic universe it’s pretty good. A game taken from the archie universe though would never happen cause as it’s been said before, Sega of Japan got problems with just about anything Sonic related on the American side when it comes to games. I’m surprised they even let Bioware make chronicles to be honest.
Ironically, Sonic is a character made for America, has sold way better in America, and has had top quality American made main games (Sonic 2, Sonic Adventure 2). I’d really like to see a western developer take on Sonic, and not just for some BS spinoff game
Isn’t the Arche universe the one that’s already had a reboot because Tails became deified or something? And where Sonic had to fight off alien invasions long before Shadow came around to make that plot thread look stupid?
