Nah mad space is Rouge’s level, Knuckles was meteor herd. I know this because of all the pain Mad Space caused me.
“Yo, this ya main man Knuckles, and we at Meteor Herd… you ready to go to space? Help me get da Emeralds…”
Heh, you guys reminded me of this…another shameless plug time: http://ogknuckles.ytmnd.com/ I’m surprised it’s still up…I posted that a long ass time ago. heh, Yo, my name is Knuckles, nigga!Straight up niggas call me Knuckles…real name is Clyde." Audio is from the legendary Supreme Clientele album.
But yeah, Sega can kiss my dick with those lame ass treasure-hunt levels Knuckles and Rogue had in the Adventure games. Rogue may be trash, but Knuckles deserved better than that. Those levels almost pissed me off as much as the fishing nonsense with Big the Cat.
Or, at least do the treasure-hunting like they did in SA1, where the radar WASN’T a piece of shit.
Getting rid of it all together is a better idea.
I didn’t have a problem with the Emerald Shard hunts in Sonic Adventure 1 where it was an “Original Invention” at the time I suppose.Yeah I wanted Knuckles stages to be like throwback Sonic 3 or S&K,but it was a change in gameplay I guess.
However
Having to do the shit twice in Sonic Adventure 2(Light/Knuckles,Dark/Rouge),a fluffed up version in Sonic Heroes(Team Chaotix missions),and somewhat as Silver the Hedgehod(Sonic 2k6) has what made me not like Shard/Look for Random shit/Solve puzzle stages any more.
It might have been passable in Sonic Adventure 2,but any fun factor was nil by the time Sonic Heroes rolled around.I guess it would fit with the Chaotix team canically since they are Detectives.I still remember that damn, turn all 80 something Red Candle lights, into Blue Candle light stage.Missed one and I was looking around on that stage for damn near two hours, trying not to die.
I was just like most of u guys sonic hardcore. Until Heroes and Shadow. I got all S rank in heroes and then I was like Uuuuggghhh. So I gave the series one more chance with Sonic The Hedgehog. We all know how that game was. Disgusting loading, poor graphics in the town, bad controls & the horrible Mach Speed Run. Might I add bad story? So it came to a point where I am like “I am done with Sonic.” Especially since Yuji Naka (The Creator) left mid way development for Sonic The Hedgehog PS3/360. U can tell by how some levels were okay and how alot were bad. The city was just fugly.
Long story short the new game looks impressive but so did the original Sonic The Hedgehog trailers. So I will sit back and wait abit.
This post is the truth and if you have not yet repped it you should do it now.
actually…supposedly yuji naka didn’t really ‘create’ sonic but he did help with it…He got most of the credit and Naota Oshima was supposedly the one who was behind most of it.
This game shows some promise…however as stated before so did Sonic 2006…-_-. So far this game looks like a cross between 2d and sonic and the secret rings. I don’t know if that’s good or bad but I enjoyed secret rings. I also see that they didn’t go with the 2006 model of him and instead opted to use what looks like a slightly updated secret rings look as well. So we have this game and Sonic chronicles coming out…I want to see more of both!
yeah, it seems weird that yuji naka is the only one who gets credit for it. similar to how most people see bob kane as the creator of batman (bill finger wrote it, bob kane drew the pretty pictures)
ohhhh my god!! mad space took me well over an hour. there was no reason, NO REASON for that level to be what it is. ridiculous. same for meteor herd.
fuck you sonic team, fuck you.
Sonic Adventure is unquestionably the closest a console-based 3D Sonic has come to resembling the Genesis games. but the game engine is a buggy POS and I suspect that it was just an upgraded Saturn project… it just feels limited and ‘32-bit’ in design.
Too bad SA1 wasn’t made later on, because the art design and story didn’t make me cringe, unlike all the other console Sonic games.
Going by that analogy, Ohshima should be Bob Kane and Naka should be Bill Finger. Either way, that’s a pretty simplistic assessment of Kane’s Batman involvement, along with Naka and Ohshima’s work on the Sonic franchise…
Nice info, but I think the guy u mentioned left as well, just before Sonic Heroes. I could be wrong. Honestly I hated the secret rings, that was not Sonic at all. It was a rail adventure. If I see any of the rail bullshit I just don’t know. I guess we will all see in the vids to come, but thanks for the info none the less. :wgrin:
actually Ohshima left WWWAAAYY earlier than Sonic Heroes…I think he left around the genesis area around S3 and k…checks nope slightly wrong on that…the last sonic game he worked on was Sonic Adventure.
For me anything that does a pretty good job of portraying sonic’s speed while being a decent game overall is a good sonic game…I don’t know if that’s because my standards for sonic games have been lowered over the years…(for the record…I didn’t buy zero gravity…-_-…) especially after sonic 2006. Sonic just felt SOOOO SLLOOOOWWWW when he wasn’t in the mach speed areas. Secret Rings for me was basically mach speed of 2006…with better controls and I didn’t mind that. I still want another Adventure that isn’t complete ass in gameplay…but i’m not gonna hold my breath for it.
Sega needs to just get off of their ass and talk to Nintendo and get that joint adventure between mario and sonic out of the way. You got them both in sporting events, you got them both fighting, now lets take it to the next level. DO IT!
The first screen you’ll see = priceless.
Sonic: KHHHHAAAAAAAAAANNNNN!!!
something about that sounds so awesome…and yet it is almost sacrilegious
but still, sega isnt the sega I used to know.
nintendo knows how to do an amazing job of not taking their franchises in new directions and sonic is the one series that DOESNT need any changes. give it to them, sega, for serious, give sonic up to nintendo. they could make him awesome…like he used to be…like YOU used to be…
To anyone who’s like me and may get suckered into this game like they did to most of us with 2006…sniff…the sku for the game is in our reservation book at gamestop…if i remember correctly it said november…but the thing I was reeeeally surprised about is that it was available across all 4 platforms. wii, 360, ps3 aaaand ps2. Looking at it I was for sure this was going to probably be 360 and ps3 only but apparently I could be wrong.
I so want this game to be good to bring Sonic back up to his legendary status because I feel this is an outrage on the way he’s been being treated over the years save for the rush series and an ok wii game. Sonic was one of the only mascots that was able to come somewhat close to Mario in stature.
As for sega giving sonic to nintendo…THAT…might be too sacrilegious for me at this point. But as the pattern seems to be going at this point I wouldn’t be surprised. First Sonic showed up on a nintendo console…and now he’s showed up in 2 of the same games as the plumber. If it keeps on going at the pace it is right now Lucifer is going to have to claim hell as completely inhospitable for his ass. 3 times in the course of gaming history he’s had renovate his place because a blizzard rolled through.
I want a new Shadow game. Except, it should be, you know, good.
I got rep for a thread i didn’t even post in…yet. Anywayz, here’s my take on this:
ABOUT FUCKING TIME! I’ve been playing Sonic since June 23, 1991, and i’m more than hyped up to see a console 2d sonic game again. Sonic was made to be 2D imo, and if Sega fails us this time i think i’ll shoot myself.
Article from IGN:
dunno about this whole ‘hedgehog engine’ business…but i’m hoping this isn’t another ‘blast processing’ thing in disguise or something. Please don’t screw this up sega!
Edit: also looking at the hi def trailer on gametrailers…looks like they added an element from Rush in there…the whole thing where he looks like he’s breaking the speed barrier. So so far this game looks like a combination of old school 2d, secret rings, and rush. Very interesting…
Uggh more Mach speed runs. I really hope the control is waaaay better than Sonic PS3,360. This engine they talk about sounds bogus. Well us sonic fans can only hope. Seems they are following the Mario Galaxy formula by switch from 2D to 3D gameplay. Whatever works I guess.
