I hope Knuckles doesnt have to search for shards again. They made one of the best characters do one of the most boring things.
The shard hunting levels in SA2 made me sick to the point where I wanted to just throw the damn game out the window.
anyhoo, I think the game has good potential. I think, if the game is made with an option to turn camera angle like it was in the trailer, it’d be solid. I hope they do away with wiimote only controls, too.
K well you aren’t fucked but what you said just doesn’t make a lick of feasible sense. If you got something to back your claims…
Know what I liked about the Genesis Saga? Finding hidden walls. Remember how in Sonic 1 we had to build up steam to bust that hidden wall open. Then Sonic Team was like “Dudes… just spin in place and let go!” and like the whole world opened up some more. Be finding shit all over place. Oh and all the little techniques we would learn. Like spin dashing forward and doing a jump attack but in a way so that you would pull yourself backwards.
I had recently played through SA1 (never actually beat it way back when). Game has NOT aged well.
It will forever amaze me at how stupid Sonic Team is. Let’s just say they tried to revive all of their pre-Dreamcast franchises. They instead end up ruining their classic franchises. The best Sonic game will be the one that Sonic Team has 0 involvement in.
AM2 is the truth, though. VF has not been scarred yet.
I enjoyed Sonic Heroes, but I disagree about the “Puzzles” in the game. You mean the ones where they would put a symbol of what formation to use and then some character would say “There’s gotta be a switch somewhere!”. Yeah, no. And the “tricky” platforming was only “tricky” because of the awfully sensitive controls. A nudge of the analog stick often made Sonic go flying across the screen, off the ledge. And the level design allowed a great sense of speed, but fucked up once you had to… stop. It was one thing to get past some enemies, it’s another when you have to get past some enemies and wait for a door or path to lazily open. The few stages that didn’t have this problem (or had this problem but weren’t too bad) are the stages I often go back and play (all 5 of them).
I have high hopes for this game though. 2D means no bad camera to die from (lol if they find some way to screw this up). I just hope there is some actual platforming mixed with a good sense of speed. The chart is too true.
I still remember standing on a platform and sinking THROUGH the goddamn lava in Metropolis Zone back in 2
Sadly, I can no longer reproduce that little glitch/shortcut =(
IMO, they should bring back Mystic Cave, w/ its silly little inescapable pit of d00m near the end
My bud who plays sonic games really well, was playing adventure 1 and 2 and he was going to all these corners that were perfect for secret power-ups, only to never find one. It was kinda sad how Sonic Adventure stages were made, they have really close to no hidden stuff in their stages.
As to old school game companies sucking, that’s a different issue, but I don’t feel like digging up magic box, ign, gamespot etc. There are a lot of changes in the staffing and pretty much the teams that made classic diablo, fatal, street fighter and megaman, platform mario, final fantasy and dragon quest, contra etc are not with those companies any more.
This game will suck, they should quit trying.
I found tons of hidden stuff on ledges, sides of springboards, random places in the city, especially as knux where you can dig almost anywhere and find at least a few rings.
SA1 and to a much lesser extent SA2 were some of the best 3d adventure/platformers ever made IMO. I loved every bit of 1 I even liked SOME of the shard hunting it was a clever distraction, but it was the fishing I couldn’t stand -_-.
I know we’ll never be able to go back to the glory days of sonic 2 (greatest game ever), or sonic 3 but SA1 was damn near close to being the perfect 3d transition if they just made SA3 i’d be all set:lovin:
No love for sonic heroes or rush 1 n 2? I thought those games were really good just short of greatness because of a few obvious flaws.
Anyways this new game looks dope, my expectations are through the roof even though I know it will suck:shake:
Could be decent though it’s developed by virtua tennis creators (3 was teh weaksauce) and it is a sonic game so it’s most likely doomed: http://www.gamespot.com/wii/sports/segasuperstarstennis/index.html?tag=result;title;0
What was there NOT to like about the Windy Hill level?
Getting the Dreamcast and then getting swooped up into that tornado = will remember forever.
Plus the music for that stage = full of win.
finally some SA1 love! I dont understand why there is all the hate on SA1. SA1 was the best of all the 3D sonic games, real talk. nothing comes close to the rush that the first one provided. even the emerald hunting wasnt so bad, it was usually just a small area of a level that sonic was in and it only took a few minutes. the knuckles/rouge levels in SA2 took me almost 45 minutes on the bigger levels
genesis games>>>>>SA1>>>>>sonic R>>>>>everything else
Oh I really enojoyed SA1 too. If you wanna rank stuff though…
S23KCD>SA1>Rush Series>Sonic Advance Series>Heroes>SA2
(everything else is crud)
Has anyone played Chaotix and better yet, how does one play it on an emulator. I really would like to try that game.
Last sonic game I even bothered touching was rush, and that was sooooo long ago.
My time for Death Chamber on my DC is fucking 1:12:31
Mad Space took me damn near two hours (1:52:56). I HATE MAD SPACE
Granted I was fourteen at the time I still hate Death Chamber and Mad Space with a passion.
Capcom is still just as good as it is today as it was back in the day. Oh and Super Mario Galaxy/Brawl > 95% of the games Nintendo ever made.
S3&K > S2 > S1 > Sonic Rush series > Sonic Heroes series > Sonic Advance series > Sonic CD(Most overrated Sonic game EVER) > Sonic Adventure series > Sonic R > Moar Bullshit > Sonic Riders > WTF Sonic Fighters > Shadow the Hedgehog > Sonic Rivals > next-gen Hedgehog
And yes, I’ve had the (dis)pleasure of playing all these games.
Did anyone else besides me like Sonic Spinball? :o
This.
Sonic music has always been a strong point of the series IMO.They can fuck everything else up,but the music is usually pretty solid.
This all except for the Knuckles stages in Sonic Adventure 2.When did he become Black?I liked like one Knuckles track and that was that Space Station level(I think the level was called Mad Space).
Yeah I liked it.I never made it past that Buzzsaw themed level(Hell never beat the game period),but I enjoyed it.
One Sonic game I find don’t enough people talk about is Sonic 3D for the Genesis. It might have been the downfall of Sonic games,as more focus was placed on exploration and collecting these little birdies, than Speed and platforming. The game was so abstract.
^^ I loved spinball very unique take on a game and hella fun I still got mine: http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/5682/0324082019jy8.th.jpg
Sonic 3d blast wasn’t necessarily a bad game it was just weird as hell when you’re sonic and collecting birds instead of running fast or jumping off something.
BTW deathreaper you’re way off rivals was a decent game.
Sonic 3d Blast was… interesting. Def. not what you’d expect from Sonic.
Not a bad game though… but it really makes me wish Sonic Xtreme hadn’t been canceled
