Yeah, that bugs me too. I have no idea why it isn’t still just the jump button in midair. Oh well… only takes a couple levels to get used to it.
I ended up buying the 360 version because that 20 dollar deal on Amazon was too good to pass up. However, I did play the PS3 version on my bro’s PS3 and noticed that the controls were a little smoother but there was a noticeable drop in framerate.
Sonic Heroes is extremely under rated imo. And the soundtrack was too good, Mystic Mansion was just sick.
Sonichuman: I agree it was a poor design choice to assign the same button to boost and homing attack. Its not a problem most of the time but it can be problematic at times.
When do I get the light speed shoes, I keep seing paths of rings that I want to dash across but can’t as I don’t have them light speed shoes.
The upgrades are:
Stomp - Holaska
Wall Jump - Spagonia after getting Stomp
Air Boost - Chun-nan after getting Wall Jump
Light Speed Dash - Shamar
Thanks man
I know we’re past the whole reviewers dont know wtf they’re talking about phase but I want you guys to see one more review I found randomly.
Hardcore Gamer Review of Sonic Unleashed (360)
By God its long.
Edit: Dont credit this shit. They gave '06 a 3.5/5.
ZOMG that reviewer used that space in between his ears. Okay so the '06 review is crap but the unleashed review is more or less on the mark.
WHOA! 4.5/5? Slow down there…game is nowhere near that good lol.
Thing is it had never really occured to me that it was a poor design choice cause I hadn’t had a problem with it…and I still pretty much don’t because the coding in the game does a pretty good job of knowing when you’re trying to homing attack and when you’re trying to boost in the air (enemy near you within like a 30 ft radius gets a target reticule for homing attack…no enemy and you get boost). It only just recently occured when it actually happened to me and and I went flying off the stage.
I think i’m actually pretty afraid for when I actually get to Eggmanland in the ps360 version…If it was that beastly in the ps2wii version then I can only imagine the bullshit this game is gonna throw at me.
I just got to adabat daytime for the ps3 version. The frame rate on that particular stage seems to be smoother than the 360 version, but there are still some drops. Holoska’s day and night time stages are way better on the ps3. It’s silk smooth on the ps3(even the night stage), while on the 360, the night stage has some frame rate issues.
Of the 2 versions, the 360 version has a more consistent frame rate, but the ps3 version is better in some areas and worse in others. I say it’s a tie between the 2.
Tried out the demo for the game, and it’s pretty cool.
I’m especially loving the music on this beach resort looking stage. Does anybody know what genre the music would be under(Something from the Latino world I’m thinking)? That’s one thing Sonic has always been good for. It’s always had fire ass soundtracks.
I heard Werehog levels weren’t even that bad, but I can definitely understand that it would seem like a hindrance to some people(“Why do I have to play these average action stages when the speed stages are so fun?”).
@roninwarrior- I know what you mean. One of my propositions for a Sonic game is-
8 worlds; 3 acts each, 7 are normal worlds, 8th is final, Robotnik world. 3rd act includes boss battle. If you manage to get all Emeralds you can access 25th secret boss stage.
For an added bonus, how about having Knuckles playable as well? Instead of how he was in Adventure 2, here he’d just be platforming and fighting and such ala Werehog stages (minus the Dhalsim physiology). For him 7 worlds, 2 acts, 2nd act has boss, 8th and final world is a long-ass stage with boss battles.
That sums it up for 40-ish stages.
Oh and if I haven’t said it yet, I give Unleashed 7 or 7.5 out of 10
A lot of people have been saying that instead of Werehog they should have taken that out…and put Knux in his place and just called it Sonic & knuckles 2 or something…that would have been interesting. In any case though Sonic Team is showing progress in their attempt to bring him out of his slump. I’m hoping that Chronicles 2 may at some point get announced by the end of next year if they’re actually thinking of doing it…and hopefully the next major Sonic game will at break the 8 point barrier.
I haven’t taken Yahtzee’s reviews on games seriously for awhile now even if he sometimes hits some good points…I find it interesting that he actually finds the night time levels of Sonic Unleashed to be better than the daytime lol.
Zero Punctuation - Sonic Unleashed:
I’m getting tired of Tails taking a back seat to Knuckles. Sonic and Tails are best friends, Tails should be the very next character in line to be playable after Sonic himself.
Man, the final stage is kicking my ass(ps3 version). Sometimes I feel like giving up, but I want to finish this game. I don’t want to spoil anything, but how do you guys find the final stage? I find it to be long, exciting, but also tedious.
I didn’t get there on PS3 yet. On the Wii version it was pretty difficult, but only about 3 minutes long, and the really hard part was just the home stretch. OMG that twisting road and then quickstepping on the thin platforms made me its bitch.
It’s not so much Tails is taking a back seat…Tails has been doing things on his own for awhile now so he doesn’t need to follow Sonic around all day. If they wanted to they could probably make a game or something out of him but if they’d do a good job of it would probably be a better question…
I haven’t got there yet and probably won’t get there for awhile since my cuz took his 360 home. I’d have to redo everything on someone else’s 360.
The thing about the final stage in Sonic Unleashed for the PS2/Wii is that for the running stages you need to be focused and memorize what to do. In the final stretch
where
[details=Spoiler]the road gets thin and there are arrows telling you where to go, remember to use the L1/R1 line change thing to get past it. It is possible to get S-Rank in the running stage BTW, I’ve seen someone do it on Youtube and he took the main path!
[spoiler=The final boss fight] however is my biggest gripe with the game it’s just so…bad[/details]
[/details]
I’ve finally played the demo on Saturday afternoon. It was pretty good! Wish I had the dough to get the game. :bluu: But I’ll get it soon. :wgrin:
Yeah I’ve S’ed every level in the WiiS2 version. It just raped me hard on my first several tries.
Also I liked the final boss. Granted, the Super Punch Out! part could’ve been harder, but other than that it was very fun and combined all the playstyles well IMO.
They actually did. It was called Tails Adventure or something for the GameGear. It wasn’t that great IMO.
