I do have to raise complaints on the shitty XP system though. I was trying the Mazuri time trial to finish Day Act 1 in under 2:30 for over 2 hours, kept coming up roughly 10 seconds short (ran out of time just before the big jump ramp at the goal line). Stopped, did the other missions and poured that XP into upping Speed, and bingo. Bullshit. I shouldn’t need to level up my running speed to finish a time trial, it should be all skill.
Camera is also annoying sometimes, especially around things like thick grass and tress in the night stages.
Oh well, still overall an extremely fun game. This is a good 3D Sonic, those reviewers giving it 3.5s are dumbasses.
stfu remy, are you a PROFESSIONAL reviewer? are you!?
no. your biased UNPROFESSIONAL opinion doesnt mean shit.
you dont know what a good game is you, you, you not professional guy!
Yo, anybody with the Wii/PS2 version figure out the start up boost? Apparently, you hit the boost button after “1” but before “Go”. Every time I try it I fall on my face.
Here is some PS3 s-rank footage showing the apotos stage. Looks really good and similar to the 360 version graphically. The load times also seem to have improved.
I think the PS2/Wii versions are faring much better because of the sense of “flow” that’s missing somewhat in the 360/PS3 versions. From what what I’ve seen, the 360/PS3 versions feature level designs that would often completely stop with some of the obstacles. The ps2/Wii versions feature these kinds of things but to a much lesser extent, so if the “flow” is broken it’s much easier to get back in. Plus the level design is so much more simplified and barren.
Okay, I replayed the level again and here are the ones I’ve found so far, in order:
When you get to the thin alleys with the breakable doors, push the large stone square and then climb up onto the roof. Edge across the neon yellow platform and bust the door.
After the second gate closes behind you, bust the door on the far right.
Climb up the ledges on top of that building and drop down onto the open balcony with the tables and chairs.
Behind the second large rolling barrel.
Far left corner in the large U shaped room in front of the clocktower.
Just wanted to let you guys know that the sonic unleashed demo is up on psn for download. It’s similar to the 360 one. Only 1 daytime level(apotos). I have the full game BTW and I don’t regret my purchase one bit. It’s a keeper you are a sonic fan.
Been playing the 360 version. Much better than what I expected, but the werehog stages are kind of boring (for me, at least). However, I don’t seem to have any problems with the hub worlds or with the dumb story (what else is new?).
Why can’t Sonic Team just make a console game in the vein of the Genesis Sonic games (aka Zone 1: Act 1, Act 2, Boss, repeat for other Zones)?
That’s one of the reasons I liked Heroes so much. They dispensed with the inane storytelling and went back to basics. Each of the four “stories” just established character motivations and sent them off through a series of levels. Robotnik is defeated, world is saved, the end. Yes, a minor plot twist occurs for the final boss with it turning out to be Metal Sonic in disguise, but that’s a pretty small and still fairly simple plot point. A hell of a lot better than ZOMG alien invasion, or random-ass time travel FIGHT FOR THE FUTURE, or the world getting shattered into pieces.
I played the beta release a few weeks ago and it really shows off the graphics as clean and sharp. These guys know what they doing.
Remy: I had a chance to play the PS3 version. I feel as though it was easier to get to the gameplay on the PS2 version instead of the next gen. You dont have to run around looking for stages and people on PS2/Wii. Day time gameplay is blazing, that’s a given. Night time is pretty much the same ol’ from PS2 except with better graphics and more moves.
I agree. I’ve mentioned several times throughout this thread that I think it was the best 3D Sonic until Unleashed. Yeah it had bugs and glitches, yeah I wouldn’t ever call it GOTY or anything like that, but goddamn it was fun.
Yeah, I’ve been playing it for the past week too. I like the levels and bosses a lot more than the WiiS2’s, but I hate dealing with the NPCs and doing their stupid fetch quests between levels and wish progression was more streamlined like the other version.
Upon playing the 360 version a bit more I realized another flaw that nobody talked about in any of the reviews. Though while I like that fact that homing attack is seperate from the jumping attack after I got used to it…Why was it a choice to put it on the same button as boost? I actually haven’t had to many problems with it but I realized the flaw pretty quickly when I wanted to get just a small extra push forward to make it to a platform and instead I went…‘WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!’ clear over the platform and into another dimension. I don’t know about others who’ve played the sonic games but I didn’t just use the homing attack in SA and SA2 to attack enemies…I also used it to correct my jumps just incase I was off a tiny bit or just to give myself an extra push to make it somewhere else.
