These are MK vs. DC casuals…
It was likely an honest mistake, but Sonichuman’s explaination combined with that made me lol.
Sonic Unleashed is godlike and is the best sonic game since some of the old ones. It has so much replay value and fun factor it’s crazy. I love it and everyone I know who has played it so far agrees.
ha…you’ve been mk vs. dc rolled…

Head of Sonic Team: so…what are the next ideas fo-
Random Sonic Team member: interjects and leaps out of his seat onto the table FUCK SONIC! Here’s my idea…we put Mortal Kombat against DC characters!
Head:…BRILLIANT!!!
They have changed it to Dec 9. Anyone seen it in stores yet?
soahcity has a full gamerip of the ps2 version’s soundtrack. i guess I’ll have to wait for the official soundtrack for the rest.
Tried the 360 demo. It’s better than Sonic '06 and Shadow put together, but it’s still too problematic. It has the Rush problem of going too fast to react to enemies and hit Burst in time. The “3D” sections (the behind the back segments) weren’t fun; I tap the stick too much, I go too far in one direction. I tap too lightly, I barely move. Sometimes I just held down X and totally cleared whole sections with very little input from me.
I like that they finally separated the homing attack from jump, though it totally messed with me at first. I REALLY like both the targeting reticle for homing attacks and the HUGE range they have. The crouch/slide button isn’t always responsive; one particular gap took me 10 times to duck under, because Sonic wouldn’t slide or roll while next to it (that controller works fine, btw). I missed rail jumps too until the game prompted me (and not the first time I hit parallel rails) that LB and RB did precise side-by-side rail jumps. I like this better than old systems; use the control stick if you want to manually control your rail jump, and LB/RB if you just want to swap rails.
The whole demo level was basically auto-pilot. Probably on par with the Adventure games, which is good when compared to '06 and ShTH and bad when compared to any other REAL game. I didn’t regret playing the demo but I won’t be buying the game; yes, this is a step in the right direction, but call me when Sonic reaches the destination.
Played the Wii version for 5 hours straight and was having tons of fun. Werehog isn’t as bad as I thought it would be, but it’s bad. Sonic levels are SO much fun. It’s too bad there aren’t many of them in conparison to the werehog stuff. Definitely at least a 7 in my book.
Maybe the PS360 is somehow worse, but those problems didn’t exist on the WiiS2 version.
EDIT: As far as reacting to stuff goes though, I must point out that you would sometimes be moving too fast in the Genesis ones too. You know damn good and well that you would just collide with things sometimes until you had played the game enough to remember they were there.
:lovin: Glad to see Sonic Unleashed love around here, I am almost done beating the PS2 ver. (don’t got a PS3 yet, maybe next year) and the game is OK and is indeed far better than their previous games.
Its BRLLNT according to Dvd, by eliminating vowels to save time.
I havent had problems with the controls and I had the PS2 version, what the fuck happened.
In regards to auto pilot/game playing itself comments: I can agree on one level. Simply going through the level consists of pushing forward. To get the absolute best times, however, you have a massive amount of input and control to make that happen.
Speaking of control issues: there are none in the PS2/Wii versions. Everything is smooth as silk and very responsive.
In the end, I’m glad I only paid $30 for this game. Definitely not worth the $50 just because of the Werehog stuff. At least rent it, Specs.
My impression of the Werehog stuff from this forum is that it wasn’t BAD, but it just wasn’t really what people wanted out of the game . If the Werehog stuff is bad on top of being less Sonic I might reconsider my own purchase.
Just to clear it up about the werehog; Sonic does not go all ‘Hulk-like’ when he turns into a werehog, he is still Sonic behaviour, personality and talking.
Werehog is still fun. I would agree with what Carbunkle says, it’s more that it isn’t what I wanted out of a Sonic game than that it actually sucks.
And either way running stages are still awesome.
^ Okay, good. As long as it’s fun, that’s all I really want out of it.
And I REALLY want to play the daytime stages. Those look positively insane.
I wasnt sure where to ask and I didnt want to start a thread for it but I have some snes/genesis games with no boxes and I have a few clear cases that hold 2 games. where would I buy some more?
If I’m shopping really old systems, I do it on eBay. Really, unless you know of the most awesome pawn shop/game store in the region, that’s your best bet.
So now that I can pick the stages that I want to play in Rush errr Unleashed I’m enjoying the game a bit more. I still stand by…
Normal Sonic first
Now the Werehog’s turn
This game should have been a sexed up version of the Rush series with Knuckles and Tails playable as well as opening up the environments to more exploration (like in the S3K with walls that can only be destroyed by Knuckles and high ledges only accessible by Tails). Since Dimps perfected the speed in 2D Sonic Team could have just perfected the exploration.
And I see potential with the Werehog sections actually. I’d just drop the Werehog bull shit and call it for what it really is:** The Spiritual Successor to Ristar.**
By borrowing so much from other games Sonic is losing his identity. Kids and old fans who still haven’t given up faith are the only reason why we still see Sonic’s mug on a game box. It’s time Sega wake up and do justice to not only Sonic but to the name of the company.

This game should have been…**
I’m getting the feeling that this game’s problem lies partially in this phrase.
Everybody has an expectation of what they think the perfect Sonic game “should” be. I’m guessing Werehog-style beat-em-up action was not on ANYONE’S list (it sure wasn’t on mine). I’m not sure people would have embraced the werehog even if it was done flawlessly. It’s just not what people expected.
Lesson learned, Sega. Next Sonic game should be an inch per inch recreation of Sonic 2 in 3D. Do not pass go. Do not think outside the box.
Personally, it doesn’t bother me that we can’t grab on to every single ledge and break through every wall and explore to our hearts desire. Sonic games are more about platforming than exploration…about solving the problem presented before you and advancing to the next challenge. Adding lots of environmental interactivity would have complicated the simple puzzles and obstacles as presented. It’s not as if the original Sonic games had excess interactivity…every spring, ledge, or area had a purpose. Werehog is no different.
My 4 year old niece could beat the first level of Sonic 2 by holding right and jumping when she ran into an obstacle. It’s the first level. It’s supposed to be easy.
Try holding right and jumping through Eggmanland. Happy dying!
Werehog = platforming and puzzle-solving. If you’re reading a Sonic thread, chances are you’ve encountered these terms before. No need to freak.
