I’ll like a well-done 3D Sonic. Get Naughty Dog to do it. I bet you anything their FIRST attempt will be better than all the 3D Sonics combined.

Adventure DX most stable eh? For me the most stable was Adventure 2 Battle. I didn’t have problems with glitches so much in either adventure game as I played through them. The most prominent problem that the series has been slammed for time and time again has been the camera though and this was starting from Adventure 1 onward. It was almost as if Sonic Team was completely ignoring everything that everyone was saying and was like ‘WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!? You wanna see where you jump!? The fuck outta here that’s lame! Dynamic camera angles is where it’s at!!’. Shadow and 06 were the WORST offenders of this. In terms of controls for Heroes I gotta disagree on that…except for when doing the special stages. Oh dear god the special stages…

You say the boss fights were horrible…but at least Eggman didn’t have a slot machine installed in his own vehicle that would cause HIMSELF damage. Can someone explain how that got past the round table?

Lock on system could have been better …especially depending upon if you were trying to do hero or dark. ‘OOPS! I just killed the officer!..BUTTERFINGERS!’. And to Sonic’s credit…he may be able to run at the speed of sound but he isn’t Neji Hyuga. And when Mephiles did shank his ass from behind he was like…what…20 feet away? I’m not gonna touch on the gas lol.

was better than Shadow and 06 at least…I’d consider it a good step in the right direction…as it seems the small bit of praise that the game got went to influence Unleashed.

At least this time they’re showing more stuff other than the speedy segments this time…that’s a good sign ya know?

In a way as also to respond to a previous comment from Remy, out of all the characters he’s probably the most likely to do those things actually however it’s just the fact that he doesn’t need them that makes it retarded…one of the reasons I’m shaking my head pre emptively at Sonic and the Black Knight. They better say something like ‘the blade got stuck to sonic’s hand by super glue and now he has to fight Eggman in the past too…’ …ya know what…I’m not even gonna try to think of how they’re gonna try to explain this lol.

You DO know the whole reason behind the sweet sweet sweet song was because of sonic 2 right? The original song was from the japanese group Dreams come true who Masato Nakamura (the guy who did the music for Sonic 1 and 2) was a part of. The song was a throw back.

Sega was hoping that this sonic game would take it back to it’s roots…it was part of they’re marketing and such and that’s one of the reason’s that song is even in there in the first place, to jog your memory about ‘back then’. Unfortunately as we all know the Sonic 06 ship had went off course and started to sail on the sea of fail…we all know what happened afterwards.

And with you on your statement on being frustrated that just about every other 2d icon ( let’s not mention Megaman…though X8 actually wasn’t that bad) has had a relatively smooth transition into 3d and Sonic still seems to be struggling. SA1’s graphic/gameplay engine was buggy as hell and lacked the incline physics that are the backbone of Sonic games… and I could do without the hair metal soundtrack… and I wasn’t crazy about the hub system… and virtual pets.

OK I’m saying that SA1 was a mess and reeks of the 32-bit gaming era when 3D was experimental. But the design around the game before the graphics engine was made had a lot of potential. The story was good (entertaining but nothing serious that you actually have to pay attention to), the levels were great, and I liked the choice (emphasis on CHOICE, unlike in SA2) of playing different characters when I wanted a break from Sonic. If the engine was worth a damn, SA1 could have been up there with the best Genesis Sonics.

Actually, why all the hate for Secret Rings being on rails? If you had an instant jump it’d have worked perfectly.

SA1 and SH don’t hold up compared to the gdlke platformers of today like SMG or RCF but even with their host of problems both were fun as hell and to this day still are IMO, I even liked SA2 though not nearly as much.

Sonic rush and especially the sequel were both really fun not as good as the gba sonic games obviously but still worth finishing. IMO what made the gen sonic games so good was the 50/50 balance between speed and platforming and rush cut out just about all platforming so half of awesome is still decent to me.

Secret rings was the second game I got for wi and while I agree the auto movement was fail what eas even worse was the ring customization bullshit. I absolutely hate it when games are needlessly complicated with unnecessary features with that being said the game was kinda fun for about an hour before I said fuck this and quit.

I’ll take the bait unleashed looks really good and I am hyped and even if it ends ups worse then sonic06 I still have mirrors edge to fulfill my platforming thirst. So far it looks like the speed to platforming is something like 70/30 and I can live with that but what everyone may be overlooking is that the werehog sections we’ve seen IS platforming in a way and looks pretty fun if you ask me so yeah I’m hyped.

Though we all know the ds game is goign to be a million times better because it’s made by bioware.

Sonic unleashed looks awesome and is probably going to be pretty good but even so bioware’s sonic is going to be much better.

They do. Daytime level design is by Dimps, not Sonic Team. Dimps made the kickass Rush titles for DS.

I keep looking at Sonic Chronicles and I keep thinking about Super Mario RPG. I hope this game is good, because I want to buy it.

Actually, that rather sums up Secret Rings quite well.

If it had controls that didn’t suck and let you free roam, it would be right on up there. It got literally everything else right, but sadly thanks to the controls and rail movement it was about as fun as jabbing yourself in the eye with a stick -_-.

so far the only thing that’s been stated that IIRC about the wii version is that it’s just going to be different. Probably much in the same way how Force Unleashed was handled with 360/PS3 being made by Lucas Arts directly and Krome Studios handling the other versions. Basically meaning stages will have a different look, controls could be different and different content across several platforms. Which is why I may actually buy it for the Wii but also play it on 360 to see the differences. It’s probably ALMOST gonna be like 2 dif games…but not quite.

Anyone seen the boxart for Sonic Unleashed yet?

Edit: oh and something else was brought to my attention…Sonic now has even more in common with dbz since at night he turns into a monster.

Edit 2:…wow the wiki has some info on the game I didn’t know or hear about…not sure if it’s true like having side quests (Tails flying his plane) and side quests being the only time a dif character will be playable. Wow…is sega finally listening to people?

I’ve warmed up a lot regarding SA1 since back in the spring. Honestly, it’s pretty much the best of all the 3D Sonic games, and even though some campaigns were rather boring (Amy, Big), most weren’t that bad (Sonic’s are good, Tails’ are okay, Knuckles’ aren’t as annoying as SA2, and E102’s are good). I’ll probably go emblem hunting soon in it since it’s the only one that doesn’t force insane A rankings in your face.

Until then, though, I will be playing through Sonic 3 and Knuckles (never beat it for some reason).

I also had recently gone back into Sonic Heroes, yet I’m realizing that I am not liking this game. It largely has to do with the overly big levels full of bottomless ground/pits/water/sky/etc., yet there are some other factors that are just annoying me. Metal Sonic is probably the best thing about the game. I don’t know if it’s worth playing through this. I might just call it quits like I did Shadow the Hedgehog (One day, I just got fed up with it and sold it because it just sucked horrible ass in every way. I don’t even know why I bought it in the first place).
