Man I hope Sega doesn’t screw this one up. Especially for a 2D Sonic game announced on the DC’s Ten Year anniversary.
Sorta relieved the needlemouse page is fake, the stop motion look there seemed interesting but not entirely ‘Sonic-y’, or original. Hoping the real thing looks even more interesting.
wow that looks really awesome
Well what do you know? Kinda crazy how that’s all just a coincidence.
Most of what this guy is saying is gold:
The comments are mostly ass, though.
Dr. B’s ass is definitely NOT ass. No homo.
Pretty amazing on how similiar some of his ideals are to most of ours. All that’s needed is for Sega to be on the same page and killing the one guy while he’s in the process of opening his mouth to say something stupid. I’m talking about an interruption that’s on Kanye’s level.
After discovering and checking out/playing some fan-made sonic games today, I think Sega needs to step it up or at least borrow a few pages from its fans for project needlemouse needs.
Sonichuman, you posted about Sonic XG half a year ago. (For those who haven’t seen it, check it out ).
Did you know that the creator of the fan game has combined efforts with the creator(s) of the XG to release part 1 of a full Sonic 3/K-esque game this year? I’m looking forward to it as I’ve been out of the sonic loop for some time now and it seems very promising. It will initially be playable on the computer/Wii’s homebrew and possibly ported to the dreamcast afterward according to the creator.
Other fan made games:

That user has a ton of other fan game vids on his page. Honorable mentions go to Sonic Nexus, Sonic Nebulous (weird art direction but some really nice effects), Brother Trouble and Time Twisted among others.
If fans can do a decent job with just a couple of stages then project needlemouse better not fuck this up. :nono:
Edit- 'Had to fix one of my links, sorry.
Took a brief break from writing today. Thought I’d play Sonic CD again. Remember it being a piece of shit, but not much else. Figured it’s only fair for me to try it and see if it remains shitty.
HOW THE FUCK IS THIS GAME SO BELOVED?
The level design is attrocious. Levels don’t flow; they introduce mechanics and obstacles meant to turn the game into an annoyance. Finding the capsule to blow up in the past is worse than all of the treasure hunting people complain about in shitty 3D Sonics. Wacky Workbench made me stop; whoever designed that fucking level needs slapping around.
The game looks worse than Sonic 1. The colors clash and the game overall looks as bad as it plays. The music sucks too (and yes I’ve heard both soundtracks). Yet this game is critically acclaimed. Jesus fuck.
That is all.
Dr. B played Sonic CD and promptly switched to the other Genesis Sonics.
Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom.
4chan is trolling it, because those faggot’s at gamefaqs/gamespot keep picking cloud year after year, and they’re also showing how stupid and pointless these poll’s are. I think sonic is cool too but I really don’t give a shit, and i don’t think sega gives a shit if sonic doesn’t win some poll voted on by a bunch of mouthbreathers.
welcome back specs…I think it was loved because of the music…seriously… stage design was terrible

did you know THIS was the reason Shadow The Hedgehog was made? A developer took the ending from sonic heroes and created that…
what do these people smoke:smokin:
everytime I see this thread bumped im thinking new info on Needlemouse Sonic…
Sonic CD was a terrible fucking game, but it has an incredibly awesome soundtrack(s), very cool intro/ending, and a pretty fun final boss.
2nded on the sonic CD thing. I never owned this game, but for years used to hear people talking about it like it was the bestest sonic game evaRRR.
After buying sonic collection or whatever for PS2 and finally playing it, i realise it what alot of people at the time said it felt like. Sonic 1.5.
It wasnt amazing to me. It was memorable for something (not quite sure what it was), but i found many of the stages frustrating and really annoying.
Whilst the Future/Past thing was a novel idea, It was implemented in a really crap way IMO. Particularly if you accidently hit one of the sign posts and you didnt want to go to the future/past but accidently hit a red spring or something.
Also the emerald stages… ugh… i really rate the guy who actually got all the emaralds in that game without cheating.
so yeah, sonic CD, nice… but waaay overrated.
I love u like a brother no homo but I’ll keep it real, Sonic CD was good. Not as good as Sonic 2,3 & Knuckles but it had some solid level design.
I found it confusing. As a child I loved it as I think it was like ‘‘Woooah a game on a CD’’. When I got it on PS2 it felt like music with no time signature and key.
Sonic and knuckes with 3 was the peak of sonic for me.
Naw I feel you on that. Sonic 2 was honestly my favorite. Sonic 3 & Knuckles was a very close second. I for some reason cannot convince myself that Sonic 3 and S&K was two separate games.:xeye:
Well there were suppose to be one game, but Sega was like “Niggas, we on a time limit here, Nintendo got Super Mario World fucking shit up, just split this hos and half and call it a day”. So the first half of the game became Sonic 3, and the second half became Sonic and Knuckles. You can even see they had the general idea/content designed in that Debug menu for some of the Sonic and Knuckles levels, they just didn’t put it in the game.
Together, its the best 2d platformer not named Yoshi’s Island, so its all good!
Speaking of which, on my fifth birthday I wanted Sonic and Knuckles, but my mom accidentally got Sonic 3d Blast. That was so wack, had to wait 2 days before I could get the real deal.
I remember when I first played with Hyper Sonic,Hyper Knuckles and Super Tails. I was like damn this is hot, super tails rocked with his homing flicky birds.
So I finally listened to the Sonic & the Black Knight OST or whatever that game is called. No one told me Howard Drosin had some beats on there. He’s done some great Sonic music on Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic Spinball so it was great to see him back.
I like Sonic CD but my own personal pinnacle Sonic game is Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
Actually I did mention at some point in this thread about who made Sonic and the Black Knight. The soundtrack for BK is good…not as good SA2 but I really dig a lot of the tracks in there. The only top person who was missing from BK’s sound track was Masato Nakamura from Sonic 1 and 2. They had a lot of people collaborate on BK’s soundtrack Crush 40 , Howard Drossin, Richard Jacques, Tommy Tallorico, Yutaka Minobe, Bentley Jones are among most of them. I want to hear more from Emma & Tina since I fell in love with .
On another note I was thinking over about what that guy said in that article earlier and one big thing that I do disagree with is the Homing Attack. I actually think the Homing Attack was one of the good things that Sega invented to help out with the 3d series. In a 2d game the Homing attack isn’t really necessary because you can make precision jumps in 2d quite easily…but have you ever tried to literally jump on enemies in SA or SA2? Mario can do that because he’s not really in a hurry to get any where but the homing attack allows Sonic to ‘jump’ on enemies and continue going. I think I actually think a 3d Sonic game would be far more frustrating without it and makes it a necessity.
agree with you fella, you dont need the homing attack in a 2D sonic game. What they could do is invent a new shield that will do that for him, but not have it as a standard move.
