The Official "MUGEN Fighting Game Engine" : Tutorials, Links, Characters, Stages

Eric u got any more from that game

and Rxs who all are u lookin 4?

Did anybody download Rosemary? This bitch it CRAAAAZY. Since I dont know the notations I’m going to for the sake of consistancy use something SNK-ish and say “A,B,C and D”. With D being the equivalent of a “super art” button. I’m making a quick little FaQ/movelist because she has hella combo potential and I really like her style. Some shit is incomplete because I 1)dont remember or 2)dont know so feel free to add to.

Rosemary

—STANDING—
A - light
Rosemary makes hand motion and does a quick poke.

B - medium
Sweeping blade slash. Nice range.

C - heavy
Strong 2-hit attack that knocks down. Fucking standing (safe?) anti-air

D - super
Sword turns into a foreign blade that knocks opponent across the screen and causes a wall bounce. . possible juggle follow-up

—CROUCHING—
A - light
???

B - medium
Rose tosses a blade up into the air. Multiple hits, opponent falls on hit.

C - heavy
Ankle cutting strike. Sweeps opponent.

D - super
???

—Air—
A - light
Quick air poke. Nothing special.

B - medium
Rosemary spins the blade like a baton as she swoops down. Awesome for jump-ins and crossups. Can be quickly comboed into areial A,C and D, special arts and her airborne super art. This is your airborne B&B.

C - heavy
Strong horizontal sword slash. Decent speed. On a deep jump in QCF+A_B_C will connect

D - super
Airborne version of her standing D.

—Special Arts—
QCF+A_B_C (can be done in air)
Rosemary sends out a flaming blue spirit. Depending on the strength of the button the speed of the fireball will be affected.

DP+A_B_C
Rosemarys anti-air. A blade spins like a helicopter in front of her as she jumps in a diagonal towards the middle of the screen. Depending on the button, the # of hits and the height of the move will be affected.

QCB+A_B_C
"Time skip". Rosemary fades out of sight and reappears in a different location. Awesome for mix-up. Invincible frames. Goes through all attacks, super combos and projectiles. Depending on the button pressed she will either go forward, backwards, across the screen, or a teleportation feint.

???
Rosemary draws a random blade from thin air and drives it down at the opponent ala GGX Dizzy’s RDP+S.

—SUPER ARTS—
QCF+D (can be done in air)
Rosemary summons a huge flaming ball and hurls it across the screen. Its an amazing starter for combo followup. Upon impact the opponent is hit several times and then the ball bursts into a winged monster and a final pilar of light strikes down on the opponent.

NOTE: The airborne version causes Rose to recover much faster. In fact fast enough to rush in/teleport in and start a combo.

DP+D
Rosemary summons blades all around her that start to twirl and she rises torwards the middly of the screen in a dramatic version of her regular DP+A_B_C. Can further combo the opponent at the end of the attack.

QCB+D
An extended version of her “Time Skip” attack. Now the only difference is Rosemary teleports MUCH faster and farther. Holding forward, backwards or neutral will change her position on the screen.

QCFx2+A_B_C
Rose summons a large monster from the ground who juggles the opponent with a gigantic ball of energy.

???
Rose summons another large monster who then summons a legion of demon energy projectiles that rush out at the opponent.

So far I have found some STUPID combo potential with her. I’m assuming some of this isnt guaranteed(or maybe it is) for characters with air recovery.

QCF+D(in air) > rush in QCF+D(in air) > rush in QCF+D(in air)

QCF+D(in air) > teleport in (QCB+D[hold forward]) > D > DP+D > D > QCF+D

AHHHH … I’m doing this shit with a KEYBOARD. I need a fucking Usb controller.

Hey, would anyone by chance have Young Ming’s Goenitz? I’m looking for a good Goenitz to get, but the ones I’ve found either suck, or give me graphical issues. I keep hearing Young Ming’s is the best, but I can’t seem to find it. Can anyone help me out?

http://baddarkness.hp.infoseek.co.jp/ is the one I use. He’s got a bunch of edited moves

BTW I’m setting up a tournament at the I-CON convention at Stony Brook anyone live in NY that would be interested?

Guys, please read this.

I am not trying to be rude or sound like an ass but there is another way to get rare characters. I know you all mean well but what you are doing is wrong.

To give a nutshell without having you guys link to another thread: generally the mugen community doesn’t dig people hosting works on things like RapidShare or outright websites without permission in the public…it’s a long, complex story but the best answer is, it’ll end up pushing some creators out of the community because of it, and thus less fresh content for everyone to enjoy, no?

Besides, most of what you want online can be found easily through databases and newsites:
http://randomselect.i-xcell.com
http://www.streetmugen.com
http://fanaticmugen.free.fr

And, well, fuck if you’re really desperate for something, request forums where people email you what you want if they have it are generally the route you might go, though you should be familiar with the restrictions on each particular board before posting (not wild about this method myself, but can’t win them all)

Anyway, hope that helps/makes sense.

The rules are bogus… i dont see a problem with it as long as the original files are unedited to show that they did not make the character. I was in the mugen community for 4 years, the request rules were always bogus, and now with so many free file sharing programs, there is no way to stop this. The information being re-distributed is free, and even if copywrited can not be punished by law due to the fact that mugen as we all know cannot be sold in any way shape or form, so the “they are making money off of what i made” doesn’t quite work.

Sure they work hard on their characters, but the rare ones DO get taken down, and if u cant find them, and most sites wont let you even request them, i dont see a reason why you shouldn’t share with the community via filesharing.

We are not warehousing works, this works just like your request form, and the free file sharing does run out. If i were to warehouse works i’d make a site with every character i own, all 3000+… but i wouldn’t do that. As a community we are not “warehousing” anything, we are simply allowing the community for mugen to grow here, and if we have to give people the characters they want so be it.

ah crap, here we go again…another message board, another mugen argument…
common sense vs mugen “community” rules, round 345635435…:wasted:

This isnt an official mugen community, why should there be rules over this shit here dude, or why should we follow their rules in general? This is a fighting game community, i dont see a problem in redistribution in order for people to obtain their “perfect fighting game” but by now we all know mugen is completley fuckin broken.

I know this isn’t an official mugen community, take it easy- this is all just a suggestion being that a lot of creators take this to heart when they see their works on other sites.

But yes, you are right, we don’t make the rules here, all this is only guidelines that people choose to follow.

BTW the rare ones are rare because people quit because of this sort of thing. Take the KFM guy (owner of RS) up top who quit because Eli’s works were hosted via rapid share. Because of that he also took down all of Eli’s works that were hosted with permission from Eli on his site. Though that may be extreme thats what pretty much happens when some creators find out about this:sweat:.

Also, this isn’t an argument, I already agree with you that this is primary a fighting game community. What we?re saying is just the ethics that the majority of the people in the mugen community follow.

http://www.mugen-infantry.net/forum/index.php?topic=47043.msg292511#msg292511 is how I feel about it.

so what your saying is… hosting on large PUBLIC domain websites is not good… and hosting on my own PRIVATE site to share between a select group of people is also not right… i don’t understand that… i get your point where hosting it on a large public domain might not be the greatest idea… but thats not what i’m doing… other people don’t get access to my site unless i specifically give the domain name to them…

RXS

according to most mugen creators yes.

This isn’t an official emulation community, yet would you allow rapidsharing of roms here? Of course not.

The thing is, by using the stuff you end up agreeing to our rules of usage on the characters. And seriously, so what if somethign rare is gone and you can’t get it? There’s nothing entitling anyone to anyone else’s work, regardless if they’re a part of the mugen community or not.

And yes, there are ways to stop such. Sites can get blacklisted, they can be prevented from linking to creator’s pages, and so on. But that’s not what’s important here: what is important is, like it or not, you have to respect the rules of others in order to use their work, or you’re going to find yourself without the proverbial pot to piss in.

PMing them the link and not broadcasting in public “Hey, I’m hosting this stuff!” is different than a publicly accessible file or rapidshare link, no?

Well why dont you fix it since it bothers you so much?

common sense

also welcome to srk,its hard to convince people to live under stupid rules here.

way back when i use to fuck with mugen, when it came for requesting for a char,i had to go to requst thread, then ask can someone email the char, doing that i had to wait about 2 to 3 days for someone to fianlly send the char.then the char was
crapppppppppy

also dont take it like someone of srk going to make it like its there char, cause first of all just about all the vs style chars in mugen are crappy, neotasa had the best coded vs style gameplay for a char,if i was a creator of a char i could care less,i would be be happy people hear even played my char or beta test it.

mugen is too broke and poor coding to get mad at somee dumb shit like this…

Personally I wouldnt care about my works being announced, warehoused or whatever as long as whomever does it don’t claim it as their own. But the issue here is that many others, for instance Dragon Claw by Reu, ask for their works not to be hosted without permission. Warusaki3 as well. But many here dont respect the authors wishes. Thats the rule that should be respected anywhere, not just mugen boards. (reffering to the underlined text.)

Key word there would be “waay back.” There are a lot of accurate characters for mugen now, but granted its very hard to make creations that are “arcade perfect.” But yeah like SyN said, characters like Dragon Claw are completely original. To be honest I can’t even fully code a character, people make it seem like its easy, its not entirely but it takes a long time to rip all the sprites or edit 1,000’s of sprites, rip sounds, then time them, then create the code for the physics for gameplay, and the timing and hit boxes for animations and then make sure the character can’t juggle repeatedly or not have combo dampeners. Its not as though you can say I’ll make a character and it just happens. The creators put a lot of work in so to say that all characters in Mugen are broken when the last time you played it was a few years ago says a lot.

Anyway, we tend to answer all our requests within a day at MI. I don’t see how waiting for someone to post a rapid share link is faster than waiting for someone to send it to your email.

But yeah, you guys have heard both sides of the argument, so there’s not really a point to continuing the argument (I’d rather talk about help topics related to mugen). Only the admins make the rules here, just know that those are pretty much the rules of the mugen community, and by wharehousing, people cause a lot of creators to go private or quit. Thats all I’m saying as somebody thats been into mugen for a while and seen a lot of people go because of this.
