Like ive stated earlier, i have been a part of the “Mugen comunity” and it hasnt done half for me what srk has. Ask for help in the help in the mugen comunity will usualy be met only with “read the faq no0b” “too fuckin bad no0b” or something else just as unhelpful. SRK has done more for the comunity then any other site because they put their egos aside, and help each other without demanding anything in return.
The comunity has grown so much and atracted a new audience thanks to sites like youtube.com and srk. Im sorry i diddnt contact the characters creator everytime i upload a match video on youtube.com, but i wasnt doing it for myself, or for them. It was for the comunity and the people that were interested and wanted to learn more. My youtube inbox gets filled with litterly HUNDREDS of messages a day of people asking “OMFG WHAT GAME IS THIS DUDE?!” Then i direct them to muegn sites and to srk. They always say srk has helped them the most.
It sucks that this has caused creators to go into hiding,which i think is dumb. Why would they work so hard and put so much effort in something, just for it to be seen by the creator and his 5 buddys?
i hosted dragonclaw, because at the time it was not avalable anywhere else. The readme files were not altered, it is clear who its creator was. Im sorry if youtube “Screwed everything up” im sorry if you all wanted your egos stroked at the cost of the mugen comunity not growing into something greater. But i wasnt really feeling that.
I agree with you, thats one of the reasons why we started Mugen Infantry- check through our help sections http://www.mugen-infantry.net/forum/index.php?board=23271.0 . Guild use to be different back in 2003 when Nunor ran it- it was more open to people new to mugen. Long story short you are right, n00bs get bashed for posting questions there- hell I got banned from there for no reason it seems- if anything starting Mugen Infantry with some other people who want to make a community that doesn’t focus on drama.

Because the dll I use is one of the only IN_MP3 dlls that work for mugen. I posted it on the MFG forums back in March 2005 in this topic which is now split from a sticky’d help topic that I started. Now, on topic since I just went apeshit here…guys, simply put…it’s more an issue of respect too: guy has his work shoved in a warehouse or something. What happens if the files forgotten there, yet he updated it readily? People find that version, and go with it when he’s already fixed many of it’s flaws.
And yes, I won’t lie: some of it is ego. But maybe…people just want a tiny bit of respect for the hard work they did, in that they’d rather you get it from them, or at least share it with others in a non public sense. Is that ultimately too much to ask from civilized people?

Half the characters on those sites are broken links or offline. I’m not going to join a half-dead site or track down the creator and beg for a character when i can get them here. Nobody’s trying to drive your punk ass out of the “community”, just spreading some cool work you did around. So get that elite dildo out your ass.
EDIT: oh yeah, theres a 1GIG pack of characters being hosted on torrentspy.com so go preach to them about community rules and see what they say.

Also, there’s no 100% guarantee that someone didn’t tweak a character somehow before uploading, now is there? Just their word.

As for Torrentspy: that’s their problem. You don’t see many people linking to torrentspy in a public forum, though you do see folks linking to Shoryuken.com.
And that Alex is inaccurate as hell DJ, though it isn’t as bad as the first Alex was. And I’m not affililated with Guild other than I don’t go there to stir up trouble like you.
If they tweaked a copyrighted character they DEFINATELY dont have any right to be bitching about someone else spreading their work.
I say show me where I can get SS4 and 5 characters, Last Blade, Kabuki Klash, PIM and all those offline rare edits and then you have some merit when it comes to telling people about ethics because your logic is havily flawed son.

you cant “fix” other people’s characters really, atleast not if you wish to re-distribute the game or w/e when it is complete.
I do have my own balanced game with characters i have made, but i’m saying that the characters made by most people are either poor ports or have retarded damage/life/stun etc etc etc… Reu did a great job with his characters, the AI is good, but the characters can still be pretty broken with their combos etc, the only thing that makes that tolerable is the combo hit limit.
<shrugs>
i’m not trying to start trouble with the current mugenheads, but personally i dont see a use for mugen other than for fucking around or making a complete game ur self.

Its nothing this major. Its only a big deal, because you all make it one.
Its simple. No Rapidshare, or any other hosting setups like that. Simply PM, or email them to each other.
EDIT: No shodokan, your wrong. You can edit them, as long s if you dont redistribute the CHARACTER, not the game. Are you smoking?
Bottom line is this,
Many of the Characters created by various creators specifically ask for their works not to be hosted on other websites without permission. You guys basically said FUCK YOU and host the shit anyway on this forum. No form of respect shown to someone who put alot of time into creating something. One of the main reason for such is the authors site to gain hit points. Even creations that are still online, you guys are to lazy to obtain it from there but rather make rapidshare links and submit them to the public which results in warehousing.
I bet you guys just leech characters and play them without even viewing the Read Me’s included and I can gurantee that many of the Read Me’s ask for the creation not to be hosted or sometimes not to be requested.
But yet you complain about how broke something is and can’t even create anything in comparison. This is directed to a select few here. Not everyone. The ones who will respond out of retaliation are the ones who support this post.
Distributing these rare characters should make you at least feel like your work is respected. Instead you rather bitch. Nobody is saying “fuck you” but rather “thank you”.
Be thankful that people even play with your overpowered glitchy ass sprites.

Hmm. Its weird, but, the last thing we want, is a bunch of angry creators. They will leave the community, and never make cool stuff for us to play with again.
And about that, some creators actually asked for their stuff not to be passed around, in any form. Theres even list of specific creators/creations of just that at Guild (forum).
Some of these characters, are rather easy to find. I saw like, Evil Ken (everyones favorite dark skinned blondie it seems) hosted up on Rapidshare, when Reu’s site (the creator) is so easy to find, its ridiculous. THATS what KFM, and SyN, and others are saying. If people provided the link to his site (www.reubenkee.com) instead, then it will be cool. Your giving the requester what they want, AND satisfying the creator.
Now, on to the rare and hard to get ones. Theres 3 reasons why we have problems with those:

May have had stolen crap/errors/other random reasons why it cant be found/was taken down, etc.

Needs work/updating/alterations on an older version, so creator doesnt want an old version circulating.

Left the community, and asked if it would not be circulated.
