Otacon’s dad is in MGS3. He’s Granin’s “American friend” that he mentioned, who worked with him on developing the earliest Metal Gear.

Did the PS1 MGS cutscenes/cut-aways in MGS4 bother anyone else? To me it was pretty jarring. They really should’ve used Twin Snake assets or recreated the MGS1 moments with the MGS4 engine.
The only exception to that was the MGS " PS1 dream" where Snake was outside the Nuclear Disposal Facility on Shadow Moses. That was cool and unexpected.
It was supposed to invoke nostalgia. Looks like it did its job.
Obviously. It’s just that those PS1 assets just contrast so bad against MGS4’s graphics. If I remember right, they used MGS flashbacks in MGS2 as well, but it was more understandable there since Twin Snakes wasn’t out yet.

Okay. So I guess my big question is…what about Dr. Pettrovich? He just randomly makes a couple Metal Gears some time after Peacewalker? Are we gonna see any build-up to this since he is kind of important both to the Metal Gear and Snatcher timelines?
I have a strong feeling that Kojima’s retconned him. But I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

anyway i’m thinking of doing an mgs2 run to get big boss rank. shouldn’t be too hard at all with no radar…kinda used to it by now.

I started this thread with a “Spoiler Alert” tag, assuming everyone that is in here knows the jist of the Metal Gear canon.
As for the MGS1 cutscenes, the lot of them were during the “press ‘x’ to flashback” parts.
oh right the flashback scenes…i actually liked those. definitely a nostalgia factor i liked.
i fuckin’ love kojima’s sense of humor. i don’t think i’ll ever get enough of the part where octacon tells you to change discs but forgets it’s on a single blu-ray disc :lol:
it would suck for anyone new to mgs to start with mgs4 just for the little jokes here and there.

I had a hard time picking between 1 and 3, but 3 just was so awesome that I couldn’t put it anywhere but #1. MGS4 didn’t have bad music by any stretch of the imagination, but most of it made me feel kinda depressed. And I hated that weird chick noise at the beginning of each act.
MGS4 has a few really beautiful tracks, but…oh, to hell with it. I like all of the OSTs.
Snake Eater, Calling to the Night, The Best is Yet to Come, Old Snake theme, Theme of Ta-ra, there’s just winners in all of them.
4 music was ass compared to all other MGS games.

What do you guys think of MGS on the PSP? I personally feel that the lack of a second analog stick really hurts the experience. Still can’t wait for Peace Walker though!
Also, does anyone know how Big Boss went from US government superhero to the ass that was in Metal Gear 1 & 2? I know that at the end of MGS4 Big Boss laments that while he never considered Solid Snake a son, he always considered him a friend (I think? I haven’t beaten MGS4 in awhile).
