The Official Metal Gear Thread. Snake > All

?

That was the nanomachine system primarily used by mostly all the npc soldiers in MGS4.

my tier list

mgs1
mgs3 = mgs4
mgs2

for the longest i used to think that people ranked mgs2 the lowest cause of raiden but it’s actually cause of the loopy ass story and unforgettable characters (except stillman).

also i was creeped out at how crazy things got toward the end with the roid’ed up soldiers, robo-campbell and fission mailed.

Anyone else think it was stupid that MGS4 cavalierly swept the MGS2 “ending” under the rug? You know, about the patriots being dead for over 100 years? I think Snake mentioned it once in MGS4 in a codec call about it being a false lead or something.

Well, the Patriots were originally the Philosophers. The very first original members may have died 100 years ago. I totally forgot everything about the Philosophers, though, and could be wrong.

yeah story was stoopid. characters were fine. problem is mgs1 set the standards pretty high. gotta love the idea of “3rd snake/solidus” though. his voice acting was godlike.

The entire Metal Gear series is pretty epic. I was really blown away when MGS1 came out on the PS1 because I had grown up playing the original and Snake’s Revenge on the NES. They really did a good job bringing Snake and Co. into the next generation of gaming.

That’s not a legit excuse at all.

I want to do a replay of MGS3 but with Subsistence. I wasn’t too fond of MGS3 camera angle.

Also I gotta finish MGS1. I was thinking about giving VR mission another go as well.

no rader is what makes it fun :looney:

there are other ways to deal with things. you get sonar which kinda works like rader anyway. mgs3 is no cake walk but very playable. I like the whole food/stamina thing. keeps you busy and not get bored.

Meh. I thought the food/survival/cure stuff was just tedious. Worst part of the game.

The subsistence camera is better, but it almost breaks the game in terms of making things easy. Whether that’s good or bad to you is up to you.

I owned both versions and thought the difficulty was the same. The subsistence camera makes the experience a whole lot better though.

Snake Eater was absolutely brilliant! It was awesome to finally get to see the whole origin of Big Boss and his back story with Ocelot.

If you get Subsistence (the actual Subsistence with the two discs and not the Essential Collection), you also get to play the original MSX2 versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake

So I take it that it’s not possible to beat Psycho Mantis without the controller port switch trick? I’m on ePSXe here.

MGS series is one of my all time favorites to bad I don’t own a PS3. Cause I have got to play 4 yet:xeye:.

You’re missing out, big time. Lol.

I’ve been playing the entire MGS series lately, so far I’ve gone through 1, 2, 3 and portable Ops. On MG:Acid now.

have you guys read any of hiimdaisy’s mgs comics? I posted them earlier in the random image thread. This is the start of the MGS 3 one and also I wouldn’t read it if you happen to not have played the game and don’t want to get spoiled.

Let’s Destroy the Shagohad part 1:

You can’t switch controllers on the Emulator?

Didn’t some people beat Mantis WITHOUT doing the controller trick?

Anyways, try assigning buttons to Port 2 in ePSXe and use them during the fight. Maybe that might work. :wonder:

You just have to shoot the fucked up statues with tape on their faces, that’ll make Mantis damageable

I haven’t read them but I do believe I know what your talking about. I looked through a couple of the comics of it but never picked it.
