Nah, you’re not. I also liked Raiden. Yes, even before MGS4. He’s no Snake, not by a long shot (well, he was pretty badass in 4), but I still found his character and story to be interesting. 2 is still my least favorite of the numbered MGS games, though that doesn’t go to say that I didn’t enjoy it. It was strange, and probably the hardest one to follow, but it was a solid game nonetheless.
Well, it is my thread
Why’s that?
I didn’t like MGS2 that much storywise. Raiden was cool, however. I could totally accept the rookie angle and all that.
I just hated the stuff that surrounded him. Hated Rose. I wasn’t cool with Ocelot being Liquid with little explanation. Or Vamp. Or Fortune (not as much her unexplained abilities as her in general). Or the philosophy stuff jammed in.
And I hated The Patriots. Imagine if the briefcase in Pulp Fiction somehow killed every major character with its light by the end of the movie, and we still knew nothing about it. I present to you The Patriots in MGS2.
MGS4>all games (except sonic2-3, mass effect, rocket knight adventures, streets of rage2, and sthd)
Anyone who knows exactly every bit of the entire mgs plot chronologically should be studied for advancing hdd technology leading to cheaper prices leading to less trampling deaths on black friday!
See mgs can even save lives!
Did anyone else besides me find MGS4 depressing? And hated Sunny with a passion?
This is why you’re not a game developer. You don’t even know the fucking genre.
Anyway, MGS tier list:
MGS1
MGS3
MGS4
MGS2
I just go by the console versions. I never played Portable Ops. Also, Kojima should remake MG1 and 2 for the PS3. However, it almost seems like it’s leading to that with all these sequels to MGS3.
My feelings exactly. I simply can’t get enough of Big Boss. I never messed with any of the PSP games either, but I will be playing Peace Walker.
I would love to see MGS1 remade in the same style as the revisit to Shadow Moses in 4. That’s one of the very few times I actually choked up a little bit playing a videogame.
Dammit. I still haven’t played 4, so I stopped reading when I got to the SIGINT part.
But just to throw in my two cents, MGS owns.
And I actually liked Raiden in MGS2 >_>
MGS4 was pretty depressing but c’mon? Sunny? Hated with a passion? She’s like the cutest thing.
Sunny gives Snake some burnt eggs
Snake: Uh…we grown-ups need to watch our caloric input…
Sunny:  Y-y-you need to watch out for your nicotine input.
Snake: u mad
I still remember this moment in MGS2 where you give Snake a call with a Ration equipped.
Paraphrased:
Snake: So these rations…they’re food for the moving soldier. It’s definitely not home cooked goodness, but it’ll fill your stomach.
Raiden: …can you keep a secret?
Snake: Huh? Sure.
Raiden: …I’d rather have rations than Rose’s cooking.
Snake: …that bad huh?
IIRC the whole point of MGS2 was to trick Snake and prevent him from finding any info about the Patriots; everything about the S3 and Solidus was just a ruse to get Snake lost in his search for the Patriots.
Agreed completely.
I didn’t choke up, but I probably had a dry orgasm. Even though I got that part spoiled from me from a teaser trailer, I still thought it was the best part of the game. I always wear the Young Snake mask too
If she was in the game just a little bit I wouldn’t have cared. But between her stuttering, egg cooking, and general annoyance, I just wanted to toss the bitch overboard.
I’m pretty sure the point of the Plant chapter was to simulate the events that happened at Shadow Moses. For some reason I forgot why, but I think it had to do with one of those AIs.
That was the point of it. THey didn’t expect Snake to show up. It looks like the whole thing was one big dry test run of the SOP system.
yeah werent the patriots trying to turn raiden into another super solider like snake?
For me my tier list is:
MGS3
MGS1
MGS4
MGS2
Don’t have a PSP so I don’t count PO. I loved MGS3: Subsistence and the just the entire gameplay of MGS3 and was rather sad that they got rid of a lot of it for MGS4.
I’d love for them to redo MGS1 on Next-Gen, however if they remade MG and MG2 for next-gen that’d be awesome. I’m liking how PW is shaping up, but with my lack of a PSP I might not be playing it.
I definitely enjoy the gameplay more than the plot. The plot is just too much for me. I can laugh at individual parts of it for how ridiculous it is, but overall I think it just reaches too far.
I enjoy the games a lot more on the 2nd play-through where I skip all cutscenes/codec dialog.
I never finished 3 because there’s no radar :crybaby:
then u missed one of the most saddest ending in game history lol. mgs3 got me teared up i wont even lie lol
The song (The Best is yet to Come) is what got me about it I think. It’s kind of a sad tune anyway, but it starts playing when you’re in that entrance area where the Hind-D was, and then Snake starts having those flashbacks. The first part of the Shadow Moses stage in 4 was hella epic. It’s particularly memorable to me because I played the living crap out of the Metal Gear Solid demo before the game was released in the US.
Hah, I also wear the young Snake mask when I play the Shadow Moses area.
@studtrooper and radiantsilver- Remind me what Sons of the Patriots is again, please? In any case, seeing how there are twists to the story in MGS, it wouldn’t be to surprising that the S3/SoP test was also a ruse to put Snake off track, in the ending of MGS2, Snake and Ocelot discover that the members of the Patriots are dead, this could indicate that they were tricked by following a false lead or such.
Oh yeah MGS4 had some sweet fight scenes…which sucks since YOU CAN’T DO THEM IN THE GAME! …but non the less, they’re fricking sweet, anyone happen to know where to DL the cutscenes of MGS4?
Sons of the Patriots is what Ocelot was calling his group in MGS4. He wanted to be the new Patriots, the second coming of them, the new generation thus, Sons of the Patriots. The real Liquid did the same thing in MGS1 changing Foxhounds name to Sons of Big Boss.
And the Big Shell incident seemed to serve two purposes. Test SOP a see what Snake was up to and send him off in the wrong direction once they knew. Ocelot of course was doing his own thing and trying to take the GW A.I. so he could have a door into the J.D. system.
