The Official Japan Thread 2.0 "Nani?"

I made a short video on how to get to a few arcades here in Japan.

Includes, Club Sega, HEY, Mikado, Bigbox, Shinjuku Sportsland, Kaikan.

If yall feel i should add anything let me know!

ah thats why you asked me about shibuspo the other day

maybe nakano trf? and i thought theres a pretty famous arcade in ikebukuro too, safari or summin

i dont play in tokyo that much, used to be shibuspo or nakano trf…

yeah ill mos def be going to TRF and i totally forgot about safari. heh. well this one was just for ones on the Yamanote so although I dont know too many off of it other than TRF… oh i also forgot about Game inn sakura… guess ill have to do yamanote pt2.

A local arcade said that the drop date for Super IV Arcade Edition is this Thursday… anyone hyped about this?

I am… kinda sorta

hmmm how reliable is this? i wonder where the tokyo players are gonna be at…

whadya mean how reliable? ssf4 AE is gonna be out this thursday is no secret…

oh… well then. ima have to stalk some players to figure out where to go. whats the mobile site for ssf4 ae?

my phone couldnt access mobile site (im reactivating my old softbank line later) so i dont know whats the site, i think you can try searchin ssf4 on your phone or something… im not sure if the site is online or not…

as for tokyo players… from what i heard Hey is gonna get 12 cabs(not sure true or not), plus theres gonna be a 3on3 tourney on the 25th at club sega shinjuku nishiguchi… so people might go to those places.

My PS3 is on the fritz, so my only SF4 action will be the arcades. Gonna get some gentlemanly punching in down here in Osaka.

lol is there gonna be another gaijin guild?

wait, theres still gonna be guilds? im not sure haha havent really keep up with the updates, ill play the game when it comes out… though on that day imma have a full day of classes, ill probably play from 7 or 8pm till the arcades close…

a PS3 breaking? you sure its not a 360 in disguise?

also theres nothing much on the mobile site for now. =/ hope it doesnt get overloaded on thursday

this might seem like a dumb question but what exactly do you have to do to activate your arcade card for SSFIV? I never activated one for vanilla. I got a free card at Tougeki for playing the arcade version so I might as well activate it.

on Xmas? dammit… I dont wanna ditch the kids on xmas for SSFIV do i?..?

damn… i might not be able to play AE on release day since i just remembered that i have to go to a bounenkai(year end party) later that night… what a bummer

Questions to be answered please.

Hi guys, I am very intrigued with Japan and have been for a long time. I hopefully will soon visit Japan, and not just do the tourist route but to also see the culture and really absorb it. I got some questions if you guys don’t mind answering.

 1. Is it possible to travel alone? I think if I traveled to Japan I’d want to do it alone so I can go at my pace and pick and choose what I’d want to do next. Some places I’d want to check out are the gatherings at the parking lots by the expressways, performance tuning shops, arcades, night clubs and bars, music shows, to name a few. Would it be possible to do these things without help(i.e. tour guide)

 2. If Japan really hits me hard that I want to plant my roots how difficult of a transition is it?(Generally overall, from getting ready to settling down)And I guess it would be a 2 part question because I am going to school for automotive, do you by any chance know of any USA natives working in the automotive field(yeah I know, kind of from right field but I don’t want to ditch this career path and teach english)

And finally

 1. Is it really what a lot of people have told me “an experience you’ll never forget?”

I graduate in September and I would love to see Japan before I try to start my career, but the thought of ditching the American life and be a part of Japanese society has always strike me as a possibility. I love Colorado and the mountain ranges but I could ditch that for a cute japanese jpop looking girl, fast jdm car, and a surreal lifestyle. Seriously would consider living in Japan, seriously.

 1. Yes.
 2. Depends on what you want to do in the automotive field. You will need to have something worth giving you a work visa and pay. You will also need to understand Japanese.
 3. You need to take the time to read through this thread. (Seriously, I’m not trying to be an ass or anything.)

Hope that helps.

I wont be able to play AE on release, but ill try to get some games in this weekend at a-cho or avion or wherever. Hope to see some people there!

And if there’s a guild, I’d like to join! I won’t be completely useless this time since I’ll actually be able to use my main instead of a character I don’t really play!

BBQ - 1) Yeah it’s possible! Do you know any Japanese, or do you know anything about how to get from any place to another? If you think you’re capable of figuring it out, then go for it. I’ve taken local trains from Osaka to Tokyo alone before and been on my own for finding a place to stay in tokyo (ended up crashing at a capsule hotel), so it’s definitely possible.

 1. No idea on automative field, but it depends on what type of job you want to get here if you move here. Since you’re from the US, unless you get sponsored for a work visa, the longest you can stay here is 3 months on a tourist visa. Since you don’t want to teach English, unless your Japanese is stellar, you might find some issues. But i wouldnt give up before trying.

 2. Depends. You might not find a cute japanese jpop looking girl, you might have a crappy 1 speed bicycle, and you might be stuck in a 1 room shoebox apartment away from all your friends and family wondering “WHAT AM I DOING HERE?”

Pretty much, i think a lot of us living here like it here obviously, but it’s not the perfect wonderland that some people make it out to be.

edit: as wintermute posted, just read through the thread. All of us have had different experiences in the country so no two answers will be the same.

SSFIV AE mobile site: http://s.sf4.jp

As soon as your card has been used in AE you can register it here probably. You just need to make a profile and enter the number on the card afterwards, it’s probably self-explanatory.

Gonna do a lot of playing and watching tomorrow at A-cho. Might even make some vids.

haha so ive reregistered my softbank phone, so i can use the mobile site haha so now i have docomo n softbank…

i bought a card during the first loketest but i didnt register it, only played 3-4 times with that card… im plannin to just use my sf4 card as my first ssf4 card, no need to buy a new one.

BBQ - Let me know what type of work you want to do in the Automotive industry. I have contacts and might be able to get you sorted depending on what you want to do and where you want to stay. (Thanks HeartNana for expanding! My answers were uncharacteristically short. Sorry about that, it was 5:30am here when I posted.

If you have specific questions after checking out the thread, I’ll be happy to help.
