Thanksgiving Party fa sho
I had said this like last year and never started… but where do you train at?
i was thinking of going to go to Krazy Bee (used to be Killer Bee) but work + kids is a bitch.
I’ll take one or both of them, if you still have them.
Hey guys, I just found out recently that I’ll be going to Japan March 30th and staying until early September, through my university’s study abroad program. Do any of you have advice on when I should purchase my tickets for the lowest price?
On another note, you guys seem like cool people and I would like to meet up or something once I’m in Japan. Hopefully my classes and stuff won’t keep me too busy.
last time i went to europe i got cheap tickets(not low cost carriers though, thats wayy cheaper) from sta travel
( Book cheap student and teacher flights, hotels and hostels with STA Travel. | STA Travel | Home )
Yeah man. I chose my gym because they have classes between 7 pm and 11 pm everyday. I think the key is to find a gym that has a schedule you can work with. Everything else is a bonus.
Just in case you are interested Yoshihiro Akiyama (a very famous fighter in Japan now in the UFC) has a gym in Hiroo. Actually if you’re into MMA I think he is one of the few guys who actually has a cage too. Next time we are doing the group thing I will let you know.
I agree with hfz69, STA Travel is probably the cheapest way to get to Japan. The only downside is that you have to fly Korean Air, which is pretty crappy IMO, but worth it for the money you save.
Haven’t posted here in a while, glad to see everyone is still around n kicking.
So i recently discovered a friend of mine bought me a round trip ticket to Tokyo as a birthday gift:party: I haven’t been back in almost 3 years so im pretty hype, cant wait.
We will be staying in Tokyo from April 14th to April 28th and i plan to pretty much re-walk the same steps i took last time. This way, my friend should have a good time.
There were a few things that i didn’t get to do last time i was in Tokyo that i would like to check off the list on this trip.
Sakura viewing - From reading an earlier post a few pages back i understand we should be there when Sakura season starts right? Is there a specific place in Tokyo that is popular for Sakura viewing?? The more people, the better.
Mt. Fugi - Last time i went to Fuji it was Late in May early June, not climbing season but i tried anyway and had a good time freeze’n my azz off. The only thing that was a lil disappointing is that the day i went it was cloudy and raining while on the mountain so i couldn’t see any of the horizon. Is Mid-late April going to be a better time to visit Fuji? Even if its not, im still going back, would be nice if the weather is good tho.
Club Ageha - I heard about this club my last two nights it Tokyo but was never able to make it out there. Sounds awesome! Have any of you ever been there? If so, do they have a strict dress code? And how long should i expect to wait in line? lol
Strip Clubs - As much as i hate strip clubs, i was pissed at myself for not thinking of seeking one out while i was in Tokyo. The thought didn’t cross my mind until months after i came back from the vacation:sad: So this trip, its mandatory! I remember the Nigerians always trying to lure me into places saying “all you can drink all you can touch” but i never went in so i dunno if those were strip clubs or not. Any idea of a good strip club that they’ll let a big black foreigner into without trying to pull my pants down over the price??
Thanks for any and all feedback!
Edit: One other thing, i went to A **Sumo Museum/Arena **in Tokyo. I don’t remember the name of it, but it would have been nice to watch a match. Is there a season for this?
Thanks again
Tickets to Japan are a little cheaper through STA Travel at the moment; it’s just too bad that they don’t have flights to Osaka’s Kansai Airport instead of just Tokyo. I’m going to be going to Kyoto after arriving, so the cost of flying to Tokyo through STA and then taking the train to Kyoto works out to close to the same price as flying through somewhere else like Bing Travel to Osaka and then taking the train to Kyoto. Forgot to mention that I’m traveling from NorCal as well.
What I was more interested in, though, was what you guys thought was the best time for me to buy my tickets. My school recommended purchasing 2-5 months in advance, but I was wondering whether prices would just go up from now until March or if they would dip a bit before going up once March gets closer. Right now the cheapest prices from San Jose Airport to Kansai Airport in Osaka are about $1050. I’m not sure whether this is considered a “good” price or not.
Ueno, Yoyogi, Meguro are all popular places in Tokyo for Sakura. But they are going to be REALLY crowded. Like, you’re gonna have to get there at 5am kind of crowded. People will probably sleep over the night just to get a good spot.
Official climbing season is June to August, any time outside of that is too dangerous for regular people due to snow and other hazards… you’d have to go with a real experienced climber if you want to go in April.
I just picked up tickets leaving from Minneapolis, going to Chicago then on to Tokyo, leaving the 29 of Dec and coming back 25 of May. $1250 American Airlines. Not bad considering the season, and would have been $500 more if I had traveled New Year weekend instead of during the week between. STA was the same price.
That’ll be the simplest part of the trip, I’m taking the new skyliner from Narita to Ueno, the subway from Ueno to Shinjikunishiguchi, and then the overnight bus to Fukuoka. I’ll have 6 hours to kill in Shinjikunishiguchi (This is the name of a Station? Gate?) between getting off the subway and boarding the bus, anything interesting close by?
Thats Shinjuku West Exit/Gate. (Shinjuku Nishiguchi)
You can walk around shinjuku while waitin for your bus.
If you’re gonna be at Shinjuku at night, we could meet up and I could take you to an arcade with a lot of shooters. It’s a Taito Station at Nantou-guchi, the south-east exit. Let me know.
Looking at my schedule, I’ll be getting to Shinjiku East Gate station around 5ish (pm) and the bus will be driving off at 9. I won’t have as much free time as I thought but that should be enough to find something to eat and drop some yen into come CAVE artistry. Plus it would make an interesting article for my travel project.
5am huh?. Thats cool, i dont get much sleep when im there. Yoyogi sounds good i think i still remember where that is. Sux about Fugi, looks like that mountain is gonna win the rematch. Thanks for the info!:china:
Hey Calibur thanks for the info.
Akiyama’s gym is like 3 minutes from my appt. I walk by it every now and then but I never knew that it was an MMA gym.
i tried to PM you my email and keitai number, but your PM box is full…
just PM me your email or sumptin and i will send it to ya that way.
Thank bro.
come back orikuuu, i need joysticks.
I’m going to be at work at that time so I’ll just give you directions. You should be able to find it on your own, but Shinjuku is a bitch to navigate if it’s your first time, so have patience.
Go out the nantou-guchi (south-east exit) from the JR station, you will see escalators outside that go down to a plaza. Next to the escalators is a jumbotron. When you get to the bottom of the escalators just keep walking straight. You will see a red arcade on the ground floor with lots of crane games and stuff. This is Taito Station. Go down to B2 for shooter heaven.
