I am a current first year JET in Nagahama-shi, Shiga-ken (about an hour North of Kyoto) bored during Spring Break and thought I would say hi. I am not anything special at SF and haven’t played much since I have been out here, basically, but I am looking to start up and play again, especially now that I have a PS3 and SSFIV coming around the corner. It seems like a few people are around the Kansai area or nearby, so hopefully I can join in on some meet ups. I am pretty crummy and play ST mostly, but I would like to get better - especially if I have strong group to play/practice with. I also just want to meet/chill with some people from places other than Nagahama/Shiga now that all of my friends in Kyoto have graduated and moved on to greener pastures.

OK so we are planning the next TPC for May. I don’t know the details of April yet … but we are gonna get it going in May!
I was thinking about running a small SSFIV, Tekken6, MK2, Puzzle Fighter and an oldskool Mariokart 64 Battle tournament. Everything will be single elimination since we don’t have a lot of time.
Also, since we usually pull in a very mixed crowd. I thought that Puzzle Fighter and Mariokart 64 are pretty good party games to add to the roster.
Any suggestions?

a-cho is having a 5 on 5 SF4 tourney… anyone in Kansai want to make a team? I was talking to some Japanese players and some of them may join too if we invite them!
Also, SBO schedule is up! SF4 is a 3 on 3 tourney… who wants to make a team? Also looking for a third VF5R partner to team up with me and kyabakura girl lol
If I’m free ill totally go to the tournament.
And Kansai got screwed over mad hard for sbo spots in like, every game.

I think there are some people who will be in Kansai this weekend? I’m hoping to go to Nationals in Tokyo, but I’m not sure if I can go yet. Still trying to hammer out some details. If I don’t, I’d be down to hang out around here if possible.
Y’know what would be cool? If we could convince The Hub or some other sports bar to switch to the Nico Nico Nationals stream.

- Is there a certain discrimination towards nikkeis still? My parents tell me that one of the reasons they eventually moved out was because they were Brazilian-Japanese like most nikkeis.
- What’s the truth behind the whale stories? Being in America, I only hear stories of the Japanese fishermen hunting whales for no apparent reason, while I don’t think the Japanese would agree with that mindset (at least, that’s what I imagine).

After Brainstorm with Shinblanka and damn near getting Daigo to come out to FRXIII secretly this year. It’s due time to bring the hype-ness of FINAL ROUND to Tokyo. The next Final Round will be in March of 2011, so I want to throw a series of Ranbats Tournaments before then leading up to Final Round. Ultimately, the goal is to send the winners of the Super Street Fighter IV and Tekken 6 Ranbats to Atlanta GA for Final Round 14. Since I’m just brainstorming now, do note that nothing here is concrete and is highly subject to change.
Tournament Schedule: Every Other Month
Location: SKY LOUNGE - Shinagawa Bay Crest Hotel
Time: 4 - 10 pm
(4-7pm Registration, Casual and tourney play up to the finals)
(7-8pm pizza club break)
(8-10pm Finals)
Games: SSFIV & TEKKEN 6… other games like MK2, SC4 and so on. Will be added if times permits.
Tourney Rules: The Finals are 2/3 matches.
Tournament Entree Fee - Party Fee will be separated.
Money Matches and Side Bets will be allowed.
