Manga question

Are there any MMA dedicated manga going now in Japan?

Proabably Garouden is the best thing going around when talking about MMA-related manga.

It even has nods to fighting games!

in a few semesters i will be choosing to either study abroad at kansai gaidai, or temple univsersity tokyo

which one do you guys think i should apply to? i have interests in japanese literature and history, and i’m hoping to end up perhaps teaching english in japan.

Sushi Fujiyama Nippon Ichi?

korea is dumb cheap and hte tax rate is super low, i can’t really compare it to japan but from every source i read if you’re gonna teach ESL korea is #1 in terms of pay and low cost of living.

were you gonna perm it yourself? i was thinking of rocking teh s-curl again but i’d have to either get a case sent to me or i’d be constantly trying to find somone on a military base to cop me some.

On the issues of black hair: I think best bet is to go low and natural. And get some trimmers at least. Calibur knows a guy down in roppongi who is a pretty good barber and he sells black items (at a steep price)!

Degrees from Kansaigaidai are great if you never leave Japan. You might be gung ho to get over here now but you might not feel like staying here forever after a couple of years. If you ever want to return to the States, you’re better off going to Temple. Temple University gives you the same degree as you would from the Philadelphia main campus, so that is recognized from American side and Japan’s Ministry of Education.

Let me know if you want me to get you in touch with an Admissions Counselor.

get to it AZ!

LOL. We hear you.

remind what we gonna do again? pm me!

mad helpful

SRK JAPAN is on the BALL with loads of info, but…

This week I went to my first Japanese Funeral. It’s one of those things that happens a lot but you don’t want to experience. My girl’s grandfather passed. So we went down to Yokohama to the “OTSUYA” ceremony before cremation. Which was really wierd for 2 reasons:

  1. They washed his body in front of us. (A full on bath)
  2. I was asked to take pictures of the event. (Which I felt really freakin’ wierd about.)

I really don’t know what to take from this experience. It’s had me stuck on a loop for about a week now but I think I’m about to snap back into reality…
**
Oh yeah BULL410! TPC next week! We playin’ ROCKBAND!!!**

Thanks for this. I"m a lawyer here in the states, but i’d triple my income if I read and spoke Japanese.

You think it’s possible to get to a business level of fluency in a year?

If you’re starting from nothing i think that it will be pretty hard to get it in a year. But if you’re motivated enough you might be able to do it in 2.5 years.

i think the key is find something you’re interested in and do that so it doesn’t feel like too much of a grind. this is what i do,
-play japanese games made for children lololol
-japanese music 24/7
-Key Hole TV
-Download both the RAW and Subbed version of anime and dramas so you can actually see how much you understand.
-chat with japanese people on steam (find the people that are learning eng)
-meeting international students through student orgs.

  • this is basically all i do besides my required reading and homework for my japanese class. It’s all possible if you no-life it.

oh hey Chritorisu, i noticed you’re from SD too and you’re named Chris King. Do you go to SDSU and are going to Aoyama with Lisa? if yes, SMALL FREAKING WORLD MAN.

So say you land a job at a Hagwon make’n 2,000,000 korean won a month… that’s like $1,500 right?? is it possible to live off $500 a month and not feel broke? Im ask’n cause i would like to save close to a G a month. I hear housing is usually fully paid for, n food/ transportation is cheap… Something like 1/3 the cost of it is in Japan… So can you comfortably live off 500,000 - 600,000 won a month if you don’t party too much?

On the hair subject, my mom does hair so she’d do it for me here. Then every few months i’d just need it cut or re permed over there, should be less of a hassle than finding a barber who can do black hair, or try’n to give myself a good fade.

H@Y in Akihabara has to be the only gamecenter that still has Project Justice, Star Gladiator 2 & Samurai Spirit 2 (3-D Neo 64 version) in cabinets.

Regarding Tokyo Pizza Party, is anybody gonna bring a female guest?

i will prolly bring 1 or 2 depending on that situation.

It’s Tokyo Pizza Club Mr. Cripple. Get in straight:rofl: Anyway how is your leg? But it’s funny that you mentioned girls. I told this girl about TPC last week and she was like, “IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINAAAAAAAAAAA! You guys just get together, eat pizza and play video games? IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINAAAAAA!!! Yaritai (I wanna go!)” So if that’s the case, I’ll ask if she still wants to come.

Just goes to show: Despite their nationality, HOES GOTTA EAT TOO!

We still going out afterwards right? I feel like pulling and all-nighter!

I can walk. but nothing really more than that.

that would be great if she could come. than whoever i bring wont have to be the lone female there. especially if i bring somebody who cant speak english.

the after party we shall see:cool:

thanks so much for the information. yeah, i really don’t know if i could permanently live in japan, i think 6 months abroad will be more than enough for me, but i guess i’ll find out when i get there. i still have a pretty long time before i will be eligible for studying abroad (need 24 credits,) so hopefully i can maintain my 3.7 gpa

on a different note, a good friend of mine who speaks japanese might be vacationing in tokyo for a couple weeks in mid-july, and he invited me to go. he has a family friend living in japan so we will be staying for free at their house. does anyone know the best way to fly to japan? i will be coming from connecticut, and a 20 hour flight seems pretty brutal. plus i’m kind of scared about flying over the entire pacific ocean :crybaby:

Fly to Vancouver and have a day layover if you’re worried about it. Then never leave Vancouver because it’s pretty much better than all of Japan.

It might be better that she brings a friend along. Rei’s not gonna come with me this time but Ayano’s little sister might roll with me. Either way, we will try to keep folks entertained.

seattle to japan is only 10 hours. or 14. i forget.

Yo what’s up, seems like all the Japan SRK crew is having all the fun!
I’ve been thinking about getting to Japan for a long time (since high school). I’m turning 26 next month and I’m thinking its about time I really step it up. Thanks for the advice given to other people in this thread. I always wondered if the whole teach English abroad thing was as prevalent as it seems to be.

So let me ask this:
What do you guys do apart from your job and play games at the arcades?
