Writing for IGN would be awesome. I think I just need to be writing more in general.
I just want to visit for a week.
someone start a “Halp Shatta Get to Japan Fund” for me ASAP.
oh wow I’m being asked out on a date!:lovin: lol
We gotta play some BB when I get it. I’m pretty much done with KOFXII and I think the game isn’t that good so I’ll try to play BB.
So many srk peeps in japan. Maybe I should move there too:lovin:
hey to the black guys in japan, what do you guys do about getting haircuts? i usually get my shit cut low and even all around so really anybody with clippers can do it…but should i trust these asian barbers or search out some black folk?
Reno - Don’t flatter yourself too hard, but yeah, ???
Just lemme know. <3
There you go. Do it yourself. I bought a nice pair of clippers before I left the states, and I do it myself. Its not even remotely difficult, especially if you are doing the low and even look. Saves you cash in the long run, and you get to have your hair exactly the way you want it.
New thread, niceeee!!!
Alright, so me and my boy Michael are doing an SF pilgrimage this weekend to Kyoto and Osaka. The way the itinerary works in my head is I think we’ll probably hit up A-cho/Mikado on Friday and/or Saturday, then head to Sega arcade in Namba in Osaka sometime during the day.
Does anyone have any leads on when certain arcades are hot?
Is anyone trying to play in the arcade this weekend?
scott whats up with proxy like we talked about years ago do u have time for that at all?
do you line yourself up or just keep it simple?
fireballtrap - Same question I ask everyone, for what game/games?
If it’s SFIV, then go to Sega Avion in Namba (like you’re planning) but many other games have different spots where people play.
If I dont care, I dont bother lining, but if I really want to look sharp Ill line. In that case its better to use a razor.
good question, i was planing on just getting my hair permed so i wouldn’t have to deal with it lol. Question for you tho, is the cost of living in Korea cheap, or cheaper than japan ( if you can compare) I’m still undecided on where i wanna end up… Wanna go to Japan, but if i can save more in Korea then that’s prolly where i’ll go.
Korea is definitely cheaper right now. Lots of Japanese are going to Korea right now to buy clothes and accessories because it is ridiculously cheaper, due to the economic situation. You can definitely afford Japan with ease if you live far from the main cities.
I went to Japan first when I was 13 with my friend Kazu. After that, I met some Japanese friends in middle school, one who became my best friend. I attended a Japanese Seminar here in San Diego while I was in high school. My friends mother hooked up very cheap lessons.
I was able to pick up the language fairly decently. Since then, me and my friend go to Japan every year via first class for about $400. His mother works at the airlines.
When I entered college, I was able to skip the first couple of Japanese classes. I already finished 4th year. For anyone trying to learn Japanese, I seriously recommend 3 things.
-
Buy your own “Learn Japanese” books, or even Manga. They have Manga that is written in both English and Japanese on the same page, which will help you big time. They are called Kodansha Bilingual Books. Kind of expensive, but you will boost your skills.
-
Take Japanese courses in college. This seems obvious, but many people neglect this, or even quit after 1st year because the Kanji situation gets too hard. From my experience, Kanji is hard. But your brain adapts to Kanji. By 3rd or 4th year, Kanji will become glued to your brain.
-
Get some Japanese friends. Converse with them via Skype or any kind of chat program. I am positive there are online sites where you can find conversational partners.
Also, I will be attending Aoyama Gakuin Daigaku in September for business and law, so if anyone has any questions regarding studying abroad, school in Japan, or anything else, just let me know.
i’m thinkin about pickin up rosetta stone to learn some japanese. i took japanese for two years in high school, but i already forgot a huge chunk of it. hopefully rosetta will fill in the gaps and let me move on.
anyone have experience with it?
We both mainly play SFIV, so that dictates where we’re headed. But out of curiosity, where’s good for 3s?
For 3S, Avion might have some people there, otherwise I say check out Namba Hills. Namba hills is really the only other place in that area I can think of where people still play 3S…(do people play at the top floor of scot anymore?)
And of course people play it at Monte 50, but there’s no SFIV at Monte 50.
Also, people sometimes play SFIV at basement of that one expensive arcade. The top players go to Avion tho.
Thanks for the info! Going to try and make my way down there Saturday. Sunday I’ll probably go to Playland Shichijo (sp?) in kyoto
btw that arcade locator in your sig is really amazing. I wish I had known about it earlier
anybody down to go to the pool?

so i am gonna be in Japan starting next Wednesday till the end of July. I will be in Muko city which i understand gives me easy access to both Osaka and Kyoto. I need to hit up the arcades and hang out with some SRKrs. I am going to be free on weekends, and also have some time on weekdays at night though mostly in Kyoto.
I play tatsunoko, street fighter 4, garou and others and want to pick up blazeblue and kof xii for sure, maybe melty. where are the best places for me to go?
