The Official Japan Thread 2.0 "Nani?"

that sounds awesome!

How about somebody tell me where in Kyoto Acho is instead

It’s in the downtown area is all I remember. Az, any advice?

I just found out that one of my former students is now a gravure idol…

…before you ask, she’s 16.

FUCK THE KOUCHOU-SENSEI WAS RIGHT! :frowning: THE FLOWER!

PICS OR GTFO :nunchuck:

Wait… what? 16?

im getting to osaka probably late that night so the 23rd might be better

edited the ??

Anyone else weigh in about the 13th/23rd?

So far I have - HN is in for the 13th if no rain on the 12th, out for 23rd. Sabin out for 13th, maybe in for 23rd. I can do either (or do both?) but probably the 13th is better. Reno? Kunai?

I figure we should have at least one get-together while Sabin is down here - my September schedule sucks, so we could always aim for Oct too I guess.

a-cho is located in the Teramachi shopping arcade off Shijo street, not too far from Kawaramachi. The closest train stations are Hankyu Kawaramachi (go out exit 9, it puts you right on Teramachi), or Keihan Gion Shijo.

This is downtown Kyoto, so there aren’t too many hotels here. I can think of a few around Kawaramachi, but honestly nothing I would probably want to stay in.

The primary hotel cluster is around Kyoto station. So you’d have nicer quality and probably more services to accomidate tourists. But there isn’t jack shit around Kyoto Station, and the transportation to a-cho would become kind of goofy (subway with one transfer).

I can’t remember specific names, but there are some business hotels around Shijo Karasuma. This would put you at a 10-15 minute walk away from a-cho. This would probably be your best bet. There are some hotels around Shijo Omiya as well - Ark Hotel, Toyoko Inn, and Village Kyoto or something. Ark I don’t know too much about but seems kinda meh, Toyoko is a national chain of business hotels and is usually pretty good for the decent price, and Village was just built this year, so its new and probably kinda nice. Walking from Shijo Omiya would take 25-30 minutes. Or you could just hop on the Hankyu line (Karasuma or Omiya) and take a train to Kawaramachi.

I’m also quite curious…for research purposes…

ahem…anyways, yeah, sorry about my wonky schedule. Usually my weekends are a lot more free, but sports festival is a 1x a year thing, and yo, JPop, lol.

HeartNana - Hype for JPop since '05

13th or 23rd is fine… actually two of my friends from Toronto (NeoRussell and STD) may be coming on the 17th, and they also play SF4 although I don’t know how often they play.

I will be fine for only the 13th. Let me know soon because usually I help a couple of students on Sundays with English. I’ll try to rearrange times with them.

Reno, let’s become koucho-senseis and open a “flower garden”. :encore:

Thanks a lot this will be of great help

I wouldnt mind the walking as I do quite a bit of it anyway to get to work.

You are definitively a dirtier man than when we first met. High five!

Great Job BULL!

Ok, gaming party at my place on Sunday, Sept 13th. You guys know the way - if you forgot PM me and I’ll send directions again.

I have two sticks now (SFIV Hori) so you don’t need to bring one unless its your favorite stick and you reeeeeeeeeally need to use it or something.

Start around 3PM? If anyone wants to do it earlier or later let me know.

We can do pizza as usual, or there’s a few yakiniku places about 5 minutes walk away from my place.

Sabin - if you get into Osaka earlier than scheduled and want to come down, just let me know and I’ll send directions. If not, I’m sure we’ll do it again while you are down here! After this weekend though I’m going to be jammed for the entire rest of the month. =/
