Nice sketches man that Spider-Man is nice. Thanks for sharing!

Ramos didn’t show up on Sunday at the booth. I wanted to get a JJJ sketch. This was my first time getting sketches can’t wait to get more.

So this will be my girlfriend and I’'s first time going to SD COMICCON. Got the thursday and friday dates set, but couldn’t get the saturday from the resale. Having trouble finding a place to stay since they’re all booked. Any suggestions on finding a place? Or how much to bring for spending at a convention like this? I really want to make this right, we’ve been waiting years to finally get this chance. Also, any advice on how to keep myself from being depressed over missing saturday? haha

Can’t help you with hotels but as far as money goes that’s totally up to you. You can spend zero dollars and just chill at panels all day or you can spend 100s buying stuff you want.

If there’s an anime or a toy I’m looking forward to I’ll usually wait for a convention because there is NO SALES TAX at cons so keep that in mind. Even without that a lot of things are cheaper because you can buy stuff straight from the company that puts it out at times.

So it’s really how much you want to spend. I think the most money I’ve taken to a con is 300 dollars. To be honest though I spend as little time on the show floor as humanly possible so I don’t spend a lot of money. So yeah I’m all up in the panels or watching anime, movies and TV shows at the con most of the time.

Almost every vender will take credit cards and ATM cards if you don’t want to carry a lot of cash. People selling fan art or selling comics they made themselves probably will not take cards though, but all of the major distrubitors like Marvel, DC, Capcom, Funimation etc. will.

Best advice I can give you is buy a bag of rubberbands and walk around with it. Mofos STILL like to give you posters that are not rolled up or anything. Like my bedroom wall is right next to your table yeash!

There is one more resell that should happen late may/early june iirc. Since the last day to refund is may 15. If you have facebook check the SDCC official page to keep yourself updated and there will be people who ask the same questions over and over about resells, parking permits, hotels, etc. I used priceline to get a room thats about 4 miles away and it was 152 overnight. I’m splitting it up with 4 other people so its like 32 per person. Bring lots of money, the ATMs there will have long lines. Bring a poster tube as well. You will get lots of free stuff that it will probably fill up the bag they give you at the con. Bring a backpack with water and some snacks since the food there is overpriced. Wear comfortable shoes there you will be either standing in line or walking all over the place.

Also I recommend you watch Comic-Con episode IV its a documentary done by Morgan Spurlock (guy who did super size me) to get you hyped for SDCC.

One day I will go to SDCC, but being close to NYCC makes up for it. I can just drive down and stay at a friends house, who is also an artist so I get discounted entry as well. If you ever get the chance to go, do it. It’s basically SDCC for the east coast now.

I have a gallery up on CAF of my commissions and pages from various cons too: http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=47921

I still havent put my stuff from NYCC last October up, or the one thing I got at Boston this year due to laziness though :frowning:

I am going to NY CC for the first time and hope it will be great and I am thinking of going to philadelphia wizard world next year as it seems this year is really good

anybody ever been to the latter as I want to go as I like the idea if VIP packages and meeting stars and getting photos and autographs

Anyone here going to SDCC wanna grab me that MVC hardcover art book

I e-mailed Udon and they tiold me the hard back wil be out after the convention, this is what they e-mailed me back

Yes, the hardcover copy should be available for pre-order right after the convention with shipping happening approximately 4 weeks after, as soon as we get the books in stock

3 more weeks. I cannot wait. I want that Daredevil artist edition.

IDW posted this

Wow. Born Again, Groo, and TMNT all look super tempting… I gotta save up some paychecks.

So it’s not a SDCC exclusive after all, even though they are billing it as one o.O

To be fair I said I am English and said can’t get over to SDCC this year and this Becky seemed to love the London accent, so maybe she wasn’t supposed to say the above OR she doesn’t know what she is talking about herself

So whats everyone’s schedule/gameplan for comic-con sd attendees this year?

This is going to be my girlfriend and I’s first time going, and i’ve got nothing in mind but a few panels, MvC artbook, meetups with artists and free stuff. But they’re all goals without a timeframe, I should probably organize it better. Definitely want to meet some srk people as well, Tokoyama2000, sano, and kza it would be an honor. Anybody have any ideas for Thursday - Friday?

Also, are autograph wristband signing things worth waiting for? Any luck on those? or waste of time?

I’m not going to SDCC this year but I’ll be at NYCC like always. Tokoyama2000 draws Skull Kickers so yeah pretty good chance he’ll be at SDCC. I met him last year. Really cool.

I’m going on Friday and Saturday and hopefully Sunday cause my friend knows someone who works at DC/WB. If your going to check out panels this year you could use http://mysched.comic-con.org/ to organize what you want to see. You will probably be overwhelmed once it opens but make the best of it since your only going Thursday and Friday? Go there early to get your badges. I left LA like around 3:30-4am in the morning and got there around 6-7am in the morning so eventually people are already lining up at the buttcrack of dawn. After Friday probably going to eat at Phil’s BBQ MarkMan recommended me to check it out but when I went last year the line was pretty long but this time I want to check that place out.

Panels I’m probably going to try to check out on Friday are GOW, Marvel Cup o Joe, The Titans of Fighting Games and the All-Winners Squad. Saturday would be Marvel Television, Marvel Video Games, Avengers vs X-Men, World of Capcom, maybe try to witness the hell that is Hall H for Iron Man 3 and try to check out the Kevin Smith Panel or Mythbusters.

As for exclusives going for the Uncanny X-Force 3 pack, Kotobukiya X-23 X-Force bishoujo statue, Marvel x Tokidoki shirt and get SDCC variants for ASM, Astonishing X-Men and Walking Dead

Never dealt with the autographs with wristband stuff yet but I would assume to get there early. Might bring some comics/tpbs to get signed. I remember lugging my Walt Simonson omnibus last year but the line wasn’t that long. Also hope to get some free sketches too.

If you want to meet up let me know.

Dude how do you get free sketches?! Actually i wouldnt mind paying, but 40 is pushing it if its only black and white. I really want to leave with a sketch at least. Are there certain artists that do it? How do you approach it? Never done it before.

Some, but not all, artists will do free quick sketches if you have a small sketchbook. Don’t just assume they will do things for free though, ask nicely

Also, still looking for someone to grab that UDON MVC hardcover artbook for me :frowning:

I got it at Wonder Con the pics of them are posted if you scroll up. I guess since Marvel pays them to be at the booth they drew it. I saw people with sketchbooks so I decided to get one as well. I just asked Hardman/Portacio/Ramos could I get a sketch of x.

I remember last year Jim Lee had sketches but it was a scavenger hunt as he posted it on his twitter.
