I’m going to try to go to the NY Mega Man 10 event on Sunday at the Nintendo World Store. If you buy a 2,000 point Wii card you get a FREE STUFF ROFL! I’ll be sure to take pictures if I go!
Blogged away my entire experience at the Mega Man 10 event. Let me know if anyone has problems with this link since I know Capcom blog links can be funny sometimes. If so I’ll either copy and paste or make a seperate SRK blog.
The registration opened on the 18th March 2010 and I called about 3 hours ago today and EVERYWHERE is sold out. I told the dude I am coming from England and just want one that’s one block away
It’s my first time and I bought all 4 day pass with preview night, they said they will e-mail me in about 5 days time to see if people who haven;t paid their 1 day depostit by will then get cancelled
How the fuck can people not pay a day deposit and they have more than 2 peeps to a room, some have up to 10 PEOPLE :annoy:
This is a vid of me and my friends top do’s and don’t of anime cons. soo for anyone who’s gone to an anime con you’ll understand alot of this.

Had a really strange otaku weekend even though I didn’t plan on it lol!
On Saturday I went to Kinokuniya Book Store in New York and I didn’t know it was Gothic Lolita day, I thought that was going down on Sunday. Anyway by the time I got there it was 5:00 so the event was wrapping up since they had guest speakers and fans that came dressed up and stuff. Didn’t take pictures or anything but I figured I’d support and finally got around to picking up the Fate Stay Night anime the complete series DVD set at the store, since Capcom did make Fate Unlimited Codes ROFL! And I got it at 10% off! Yeah yeah I know Saber isn’t exactly gothic lolita but it will have to do until they make an anime about Ingrid or something. :looney:
I’m going to run a marathon on Wednesday so today I went to Central Park to practice. There was a threat of a thunderstorm in the area but I was aware that the fourth annual NY Japan Day festival was taking place. I called my friend and told him after my run if it wasn’t going to rain or anything I’d be sure to drop down. I went to the first annual festival but not the second and third. The weather held up fairly well. We got lots of FREE Japanese food and FREE tea! There were lots of performances and shows including a marching band that played the theme from the old Astro Boy anime! :clapdos:
But what really surprised me was there was a dance number by a bunch of Ninjas who called themselves Shinobi-Try. One of the songs they used for their dance number was Ryu’s theme from Street Fighter EX 3, Rising Dragon!!! I think I was the only one in the crowd who recognized it and hummed along! That was a NICE surprise! After that they used the theme song from the Metal Gear Solid series, since it has lots of Ninjas in it I guess. People in the crowd did recoginze that one though. Here’s the SF EX 3 song I’m talking about by the way.

Not much for Capcom cosplayers at both of these events. There was one guy dressed as Iori so this weekend goes to SNK, but he looked pretty bad. Yes I’m just hatin’ 'cuz I didn’t see any Capcom cosplayers. There was one guy who looked like Mario who looked pretty cool but I didn’t feel like taking his picture really. And like any anime related event there were lots of people dressed up like Naruto and Bleach characters.
Hello Kitty was there and you could take pictures of her though! :lovin:
What? Haven’t you heard? Hello Kitty is down with Capcom now! :clapdos:
Even though I’m still not going to start watching anymore Hello Kitty anime for my overall sanity, that’s where my insane Capcom fanboyism ends. :looney: LOL I took her picture and I did see her get up on stage for a little while, I think I’m good. Eh that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. :wonder:
Had a fun time this weekend! It looks like Video Games Live isn’t coming back to New York City until 2011, but later this year they will be going to Long Island. I’m not sure if I will go because it’s a real pain to get to Long Island if you live in the boroughs in NY. Went to their last show where they played a Mega Man Medley and that was quite a treat! Guess I’ll have to wait and see how it goes. They are working on a Street Fighter piece which I hope makes it into the LI show or at the very else their second CD. Some info and tour dates.
Not much else planned right now except going to see Lord of the Rings 2 with a live orchestra since I saw 1 last year and of course the BIG NY Anime Festival / Comic Con merger! All of these events happen on the same weekend though yikes… Oh well at least I’m sure to have a fun weekend.
So who’s going to the San Diego ComicCon? …and for those that are going could you ask when a dvd/bluray release of the Grant Morrison documentary will be released?
I’ve never really gone to any comic cons, but this year I want to go to the NY comic con, I live an hour away and plan on driving in everyday. The only comics I’ve ever read were a couple of mangas, but I used to watch a lot of anime. I was wondering if anyone else here is going to be going to comic con that would like to get together for this.
I go every year and blog away about it on this thread if you have tons of free time and want to read lots of stuff on cons past… :looney:
This year the Comic Con is combining with the NY Anime Festival so there will be tons of stuff you will dig. Plenty of anime and manga stuff going on.
Don’t know of they are returning but other SRK members Apathy-Inc and Kourin-Chan always go and I usually get to see them there. I think Fistoftheryustar and Master Chibi are going too even though I haven’t met those two in real life. Orochizoolander went one year. We had a few more SRK members when Studio Udon came a few years back.
Meetings are tough. Because there’s SO many things to do at once and everybody goes off and does their own thing. On top of that a lot of times I get like no reception on my cell phone in the center. As usual I will PM everyone who I think is going before and hopefully some of us can meet up. At least to say hello!
Me I mostly go to Marvel panels but since this year it’s anime / manga / comics I will probably be all over the place. Well, at least more than previous years since I tend to go see and do whatever I can to get my money’s worth. Gonna be some really hard decisions coming up deciding which panels to attend. It’s difficult enough as it is whenever you have to decide between a Batman panel and an X-Men panel… Imagine deciding between a Batman panel, X-Men panel and an ‘insert anime / manga you like’ panel. I see lots of coin flips in my future.
Oh wow. I thought the BAAF was cancelled permanently, or is that completely different than the NY anime festival. Anycase, I’m pretty excited over this. Hopefully I’ll see some of you guys there.
Usually NYCC and NYAF go on at different times of the year but this year both cons will be going on at the same place at the same time! You only need one ticket to attend both shows! If you got a ticket for NYCC well you can walk into the NYAF space no prob and vice versa.
HELL YEAH WE TAKING OVER NY IN OCTOBER WHAT WHAT!!!
